XIX. Second Task

You sleep uneasy that night, worrying about Daphne. You, Cedric, and Draco had spent that afternoon searching the whole school for her. The next morning you wake up early to get showered and dressed to attend the next task of the Triwizard Tournament.

You arrive alone, and take a spot in the stands, and glance around amongst your peers. You catch a glimpse of platinum blonde hair and see Draco, one stand over, waiting for the task to begin, his parents not far behind in the stands. He catches your eye and gives you the slightest smile. You bite your lip and smile back before facing the lake again.

The lake was the second task. You watch as all four Champions prepare at the dock. The rules were explained. They were each assigned to rescue a person close to them. One for each Champion. As you walked here, you heard murmurs of who was missing that morning. For Cedric it was Daphne. For Harry, it was Ron. For Viktor, it was Hermione and for Fleur, it was her younger sister. The first to come out with their assigned person won the Second Task. You didn't care who won. You just hoped Hermione and Daphne were okay. You waited impatiently as seconds passed, then minutes. Then there is an announcement made by Dumbledore. "The Beauxbatons Champion, Miss Delacour, has unfortunately been forced to retire, so she will take no further part in this task." At that moment, you glance towards the deck to see a lot of Beauxbatons students crowding their Champion and escorting her off towards the school. You continue to wait.

A little while later, Cedric emerges through the surface of the water, with Daphne on his back. You breathe a sigh of relief. Daphne was okay, but what about Hermione? Not a minute later, Viktor comes out of the water with Hermione. The tension in your shoulders releases knowing both of your friends were safe and alive. You move your attention back towards the competition, where one Champion still has yet to return. Harry. It takes a couple minutes for him to come out, but when he does, and with two people, the crowd cheers. Knowing both your friends were okay, you found right now a suitable time to leave. You quietly slip out of the stands and walk back towards the Slytherin common room. You sigh and fall back into on of the chairs and you sit there in silence for a couple minutes. It's not long before you hear someone opening the entrance to the common room and you turn to see who it is.

And it is exactly who you'd hoped it'd be.

Your face lights up as you jump out of the chair you were sitting in and run towards Draco. He sweeps you up into a hug, twirling you around for a second before setting you down gently. He nuzzles his face into your neck, inhaling your scent. "Hells, I missed you." He murmurs onto your collarbone. You smile, brushing your fingertips over his hair. "I missed you too, even if it was only since this morning," You scoff and laugh lightly, rolling your eyes at your own statement. "I miss you every second I'm not with you," Draco smiles. "S-shut up," You stammer, turning away from him in an attempt to hide the evident blush on your cheeks. "Sarafina..." You hear Draco's voice. "No," You whine, knowing what he wants. "Look at me Sarafina," He says, very invitingly. "We both know well enough what's going to happen if I do that," You reason. "Yes, you are going to blush even more and bite your lip, and try to think of something to say but eventually come up with nothing and kiss me instead. So just kiss me." He says, as if it's routine. "You know me too well." You pout, knowing very well that he was absolutely correct. "So why aren't you kissing me?" He smirks. You roll your eyes and kiss him briefly. "That's all you get for..whatever that just was." You say. Draco makes a sad face at you. "What?" You ask him. "That's all I get for missing my beautiful girlfriend every time I'm not with her?" He arches a brow.

"Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine." You say, giving in to his charm. You give him another kiss, a longer one this time, leaving him satisfied. "Better?" You ask, standing and crossing your arms. "Much," He smiles, fixing his hairdo a bit. "I have to go now, my parents think I went to the bathroom, not to my- ahem, subordinate," He gestures to you and you laugh lightly. "Okay, okay. Now go, before they get suspicious." You say, pushing him out of the room. "Alright, I'm going!" He laughs, then turns to face you. "One more kiss?" He asks with a smile. You roll your eyes. "One more kiss," You kiss him again, but this time, he wraps his arms around you and walks you backwards, then spinning you around and pushing you against the wall. You gasp but then push him back lightly. "Draco. Seriously. You have to go." He sighs. "Alright. I'll go." He holds his hands up in surrender, walking out.

You shake your head, laughing lightly to yourself as you walk back to your chair. 'This boy..'
