IV. Rematch
You stand across from Draco in the Slytherin common room, readying your wand. You make a small circular movement with your wand before pointing it at Draco. "Ventus." You say and an invisible force of wind slams Draco to the wall. He just barely lifts his wand, so slightly that you didn't notice, and he whispers, "Everte Statum." You are thrown back far against the opposite wall, and the invisible force of wind fades. You get up, your back and shoulders aching from the hit. "Flipendo!" You're thrown back against the wall a second time, your arm throbbing with pain. "Everte Statum!" He says again, and you are hurled against the wall, and you bite down on your bottom lip, holding back your cry as your arm screams in pain. You fall to the floor, and whip you hair out of your face as you glare at him. "Glacius!" You say, and Draco is frozen in a block of ice.
You exhale, relieved, and walk over to a frozen Draco, cradling your broken left arm. You point your wand at the ice, and, using the hot air charm, it begins to melt. Once you manage to get Draco out, he nods toward you. "You won." He says. "Didn't I say I would?" You ask with a smile. You nod to your broken arm. "Mind fixing that?" He nods. "Of course." He gently places a hand on your arm and holds it out. "Brackium Emendo." He says, waving his wand over your arm. You bend your arm a little, testing it. "Good as new," You say, looking at Draco with a slight smile. You hear someone from your left say "Alohomora." The door unlocks and Daphne slams it open. She takes in the sight of you sitting across from Draco, who is holding your arm. "What. The hell." She says, making her way towards you. The bubble shield thing must've worn off if she saw you. "The door wouldn't unlock no matter how many times I tried!" She said, looking between the two of you. "What were you guys up to, huh?" She asks with a wink.
You pull your arm from Draco's grasp. "We were dueling. He wanted a rematch." You say flatly. Daphne rolls her eyes and falls back into a chair dramatically. "You guys are so boring." She says, resting an arm on her forehead. You glance at the clock above the entrance to the common room. "We have to get to dinner," You say, pulling Daphne up and dragging her out the door. As you do, you take a quick glance back at Draco, who is still standing in the same place, and you think you see the slightest smile on his face.
You arrive at the Great Hall, taking a seat near the front. Professor Dumbledore clinks his glass. "I'd like to give you all a reminder," He begins. "That this year, Hogwarts will be hosting the Triwizard Tournament. The two other competing schools will arrive in a few weeks. I expect all of you to treat them with respect and kindness. The Triwizard Tournament will officially begin on November 24th, with the first task." He says, looking over the students. "Once the schools arrive, we will allow any willing student to sign up to compete in the Tournament. Please know that only students over the age of 17 may enter. That is all." He finishes, sitting back down. The whole hall erupts in excited chatter.
"Wow! To compete in the Triwizard Tournament! But we're not old enough." Daphne complains, swirling the drink in her hand. You watch as the upper years of each house start to gather together. You nudge Daphne, who's head was on the table. She groans in response. You elbow her a little harder. "Ow, Sarafina! What?" She asks, turning to face you. "Two words Daphne. Eye. Candy." You say, pointing to a handsome young man near the Hufflepuff tables wearing a yellow tee and black pants. Daphne almost falls out of her seat. "Hot damn," She whispers to you. You smile slyly. "Someone's got a cruuuuuush," You say, imitating her words. She stares at you open-mouthed before hitting your arm lightly. "Do not!" She pauses. "Okay yes I do, but so do most of the girls in here!" She says in her defense. "Mhmmm," You hum, unconvinced. "Sure hon," You say sweetly before resuming your meal. Daphne does the same, sucking on a lollipop she had grabbed. "So what were you two really up to?" She asks, licking the lollipop, then sticking it back in her mouth.
"I told you. Dueling. He wanted a rematch, I gave him one. And I won, again." You say with a small smile. "Then why was he holding your arm hmm?" Daphne asks, pointing the lollipop at you. "He just broke my arm in the process of the rematch. I had him fix it." You explain. Daphne pouts, popping the lollipop back in her mouth and glancing back towards the handsome Hufflepuff. "And here I was thinking the Hufflepuffs were just a bunch of softies," She comments. You glance at her. "Now the softies have a hottie." You tease. Daphne gives you a look. You look back at her innocently. "What?" You ask. She rolls her eyes before sucking on her lollipop again.
"Lucky softies." Daphne comments as a group of girls join the circle of Hufflepuff upper years, talking to the young man. You giggle patting Daphne's shoulder sympathetically.
