Broken
She supposed it wasn't terrible. If it really was that terrible would she have gotten over him that easily. She didn't think so. She didn't take in consideration that if you were willing to never fall again you probably hadn't healed from the last time.
She opened her heart, and it was broke within six months, and then she took him back. That's what made her the most angry. She let him back in, and he did it again. No, never again was she going to go through that.
But it wasn't that terrible, she kept repeating to herself. She knew better. It hurt her so much more than she wanted to admit, and she was too prideful to admit it to even just herself.
Six months had passed since then and she was still whispering those words to herself. It wasn't that bad. It was bound to happen. Can't blame anyone but yourself for letting him back in.
She walked inside the old Café near her place. She swore nobody made better coffee and that day was a day that even coffee could use a boost. That's where it happened. She was standing behind him in-line. He had to of been at least a foot taller than her. She didn't pay attention to him, she was thinking about her coffee when he turned around and asked her, "What do you usually order?"
She shook her head and gave him a puzzled expression. "Sorry. I was lost in my thoughts."
He gave her a small smile, "Don't apologize. I'm sorry for interrupting."
"No, no it's quite alright. What were you asking." she asked.
"I'm new here and was wondering what you usually order?"
"Normally just a coffee with some cream and sugar. Depends on how sweet you like it, though."
"And how sweet do you like it?" he asked.
"2 cream and sugar." she replied smiling for the first time since the piece of trash did her wrong.
The person in front of the stranger was done ordering and then the stranger walked up to the counter. He ordered two coffees exactly the way she said she got hers. She figured he probably had a girlfriend and was getting her one too.
But to her surprise once he got the coffees he handed one to her. She looked at him in disbelief. He took notice of her expression and his face fell. "I'm sorry I should've asked first."
"No, it's alright. I... I just didn't... Thank you."
"I was wondering if maybe you'd like to talk. Maybe tell me more about this place. I just moved here, and it's very different from what I'm used to. But I understand if you don't want to."
"It's the least I could do. As a thank you for the coffee." she smiled.
He smiled back at her as they both walked to an empty table.
I know it sucks I wasn't planning on publishing but it'll be up for about two days
