"...so La Push High, what can I say? It's actually pretty good surprisingly, I thought I wouldn't like a small town high school but it was a nice change from the snooby schools I was used to back in Canada. The time here is going fast, I only have a few months left of school for this year due to when I started, then graduation will be just around the corner. I wish you were both there Mum and Dad. – Abigail xx"

Previously: "...would you like to go the bonfire? With me if you'd like?" he looks at me smiling "Yeah Emily mentioned something about going to the beach tonight and it sounds like fun. I'll see you there Embry." I say smiling and going into the jeep.  

Abigail's POV

I go into my wardrobe and grab my black and white baggy jumper, denim skinny jeans and my black and white vans. I grab my black tank top from my drawer before I quickly go into the bathroom with my clothes in my arms, I have a quick shower washing my hair and body along with my face. As I get out I grab my fluffy white towel and wrap it around my slim body, grabbing my second towel for my hair I quickly wrap my hair up in the towel to absorb the water.

I dry my face and body, changing into my clothes. I grab my tooth brush and paste and begin to brush my teeth. Once done I spit the toothpaste out into the sink rinsing my mouth with cold water before patting my mouth dry with the towel. I pug in my hairdryer into the wall socket and take my towel off my head and use my brush as I dry my hair.

Tossing my head around as I brush through it while drying, my hair is left in its natural loose curls down my back. I dance around the bathroom as I get ready while singing All The Small Things by Blink 182, "all the small things, true care truth brings, I'll take one lift, your ride best trip, always I know, you'll be at my show, watching, waiting, commiserating" grabbing my makeup bag I begin to do a natural look.

Consisting of my foundation, little blush and bronzer, mascara around my eyes making them stound out more, my setting powder and a nude lip stick which I then added the same shade in lip-gloss on top. I smile at myself in the mirror "say it ain't so, I will not go, turn the lights off, carry me home, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na" I bop my head to the beat while singing I fish around in my jewellery box before grabbing my silver crescent moon necklace and my hoop earrings.

I look at the clock on my bedside table 4:45pm, almost time. I scurry out the bathroom and down the hallway towards the kitchen where I smell fresh food, I see a chocolate cake sitting iced and finished on the bench and Emily's back to me as she searches in the fridge. I begin to slowly and quietly creep towards the cake using my ninja skills as I like to call them.

I'm about 5cm's away before something hits me in the back "don't you even think about it." (A/N: has anyone else had that? When someone has made something, and you try to sneakily get some and you're caught) I turn around and look at the floor where a lonesome spatula was laying, I lift my gaze to see a disapproving look upon Emily's face, her hip was jutted out as she wagged her finger at me. I looked down in shame before I slightly smiled and looked up at her once again

"I was just going to try it for you to make sure it was good." I say with an innocent smile she shakes her head

"Well I have 4 of them and I'm bringing them to the bonfire tonight so you can just wait for some of the cake. Alright?" Emily has a pointed look, but she smiles. I nod my head silently eyes still wide in shock that she caught me without seeing me and that she threw a spatula at me. I see Emily taking many plastic containers from the fridge and putting them onto the bench to get ready to pack the car

"Why is there so much food Em? It's like you're feeding for an army" I say laughing, she shakes her head

"Well everyone's gonna be there and it's always good to have extra, more than less." I nod my head in agreement. Emily stacks food containers up in her hand and carries them towards the car before she starts to pack the boot, I follow her and do the same thing. Soon the car's boot is full of food containers and my stomach grumbles at the sight. I close the boot down and follow Emily back into the house, where she is making sure she has everything.

She scurries away down the hallway coming back a moment later with folded blankets in her arms and some lights, I quickly grab the lights from her and we go back to the car and open the door to the second row of seats and place all the belongings inside.

As I get out of the car I see Sam leaving the house without a shirt on and going into the forest, confused I look towards Emily who has a distant smile on her face she must of seen Sam "why did he go through the forest and not just ride with us to the beach?" I ask with a confused look

"I don't know really?" She says smiling at me and gets into the driver's seat while I hop into the passenger seat. As I sit there, the whole thing goes through my head and I have one word on repeat in my head. Strange.

I want to know why he went through the forest and shirtless none the less.

We make our way from the car carrying containers of food as we go. Emily directs me over to the tables that have been set out for the food along with plastic plates, cups and cutlery. I smile it so homey. I set out the food and put tongs and serving spoons in each of the dishes, I turn around and see all the guys already running around playing football with one another on the sand, while the girls are huddled near the fire with blankets and looking into the flames as the sun is still in the sky but beginning to set.

The lights Emily had in the car are placed on the table so it's visible once the sun goes down and the beach will be covered by a blanket of darkness. I see Embry and feel my heart skip a bit as I see his rippling muscles a he runs with the football and dodging the others. I feel a nudge and see Emily smirking at me, I feel heat rush to my cheeks at being caught staring.

"So...how's Embry doing?" She says with her smirk still on her face, enjoying me uncomfortably shift under her intense gaze

"I-I-Uhh it's no-not like tha-that I wa-was jus-just..." I furrow my brows at my lame excuse of speaking I feel my shoulder sag and I look at Emily helplessly "it's not what you think?" I look back at her eyes with a questioning gaze. Why did I ask it like a question? She smiles

"It's alright. It's kind of cute Abbie." She says as she wraps and arm around me. And for once I don't try and not get any affection from someone. It feels nice. I look up at the night sky seeing the twinkling stars and swear I see one flash at me as if it was my mother giving me the thumbs up.

I laugh silently and nod my head and look back out at the sand and see the guys had stopped playing and were sitting on the sand near the fire but looking over towards Emily begging with their eyes for the food that was brought. The only one whom wasn't with the group was Jared, who was sitting besides a small female figure, I'm guessing his girlfriend.

I smile and shake my head. Boys will be boys. Emily turns towards Jared and the girl he was sitting with, she smiles and motions for the girl to come over, she smiles and nods her head, she leaned down to Jared and seemed to have whispered in his ear before she made her way over towards us. Once she reaches us she, she beams at me with a heart-warming smile and it eases my nerves significantly, Emily smiles before starting the introductions "this is Kim she is Jared's im-girlfriend. Kim this is Abigail she is living with Sam and I." I flick my eyes at Emily when I heard her stumble on the word girlfriend, what was she going to say instead?

Kim snaps me out of my thoughts when she smiles at me "hey."

I nervously smile back "hi" I say with a small wave in her direction she smiles again, Emily smiles at us and ushers us to the table and allows the girls including herself to grab food before the boys devour it all.

I grab a plate for me and begin to fill it with potato salad, normal green leaf salad, some meat on the side with a warm gravy, some vegetables and a bread roll. I'm about to leave with my plate of food and cutlery on the plate and my soft drink in my other hand, before I place it down on the table and grab one more spoonful of potato salad and collect my soft drink and make my way towards the fire and next to Embry.

I place my food on the ground and wrap the blanket I had on the back of the log around my shoulders and snuggle into the warmth. Picking up my plate of food I begin to dig in and see Embry looking at me and my food with wide eyes, they shine with a want and he gives me puppy dog eyes.

I sigh and give him some of the chicken on the plate and he happily scoffs it down and looks at me again "un uh, I gave you some of my food already you guys will go get yours when Emily calls you up. Okay?" I say with a smile.

I see Embry bounce his head as a 'yes', but he is still staring at my food, I begin to shovel the food into my mouth, not once caring how I may look. I like my food alright. As we sit and eat our food Embry keeps casting me small looks and when I'd catch his eyes his lips would turn up into a toothy grin and I would be left chuckling while shaking my head. This continued for a few moments until I notice the elders making their way to the logs around the fire.

I feel Embry lean towards me bumping my shoulder with his large one. I turn my head to him "what?" I whisper as to not bring attention to our conversation

"They're getting ready to tell some of our tribes legends"

"Oh, really?" I feel excited as I have been hearing bits and pieces from the boys when they've been over to the house. I look towards Billy Black as he wheels himself to be in the middle of the group.

"I hope you're all comfortable, we're going to do what we normally do with the legends except, these stories will be new for one pair of ears; Abigail, what you're about to hear will be a first, I hope you enjoy them and our tribes history" Billy kindly smiles towards me.

I lean into Embry's warmth as I feel his arm snake around my back to keep me in place, I feel content as I prepare to listen to these stories that I've been waiting to hear

"According to the Quileute legend, the spirit warriors were the first to shift from humans into wolves, this came to be from our ancestor Chief Taha Aki who while in spirit form asked a wolf if he could share it's body and when it complied he was able to travel back to his tribe and escape his entrapment in the spirit world from Utlapa.

Taha Aki was trapped after he had banned Utlapa from the tribe after he wanted the tribe to take over the Hohs and Makahs tribe. In rage Utlapa hatched a plan, when he saw Taha leave his body, he too left his body but took Taha Aki's body then killed his own. Taha Aki knew immediately what was happening when Utlapa joined him in the spirit world.

He raced back to his sacred place but it was too late. He followed his body in his spirit self down to the tribe. For weeks he watched in despair as Utlapa made sure everyone believed he was Taha Aki. His first edict came: no warrior was to enter the spirit world because he had a vision of danger, but the truth; he was afraid of Taha Aki. Utlapa took a second and a third wife, even though Taha Aki's wife still lived.

Eventually, Taha Aki brought a great wolf down the mountains to kill Utlapa and free the tribe, but Utlapa only hid from it behind his warriors. The wolf ended up killing a young man, making Taha Aki's grief greater. He had been away from his body for too long and feared he would never cross the line between life and death. The great wolf followed him through the forest and Taha Aki felt jealous of the animal; at least it had a body and a life.

At that moment the Spirit Chief had an idea that changed the future of the Quileute's. He asked the animal if he could share his body with him and the wolf complied. As a single being, the wolf and the man went to the village. The people feared the wolf, shouting for the warriors' help. The warriors came with spears in their hands, but they stopped in surprise of what the wolf was doing: the wolf was retreating from the warriors and trying to yelp the songs of their people. The warriors realized what it was doing and could only think that it was being influenced by a spirit.

An old warrior, Yut, disobeyed the orders of the false chief and left his body and learnt what had transpired. Almost instantly, Utlapa realized what happened with his knife in hand he rced towards Yut's body, just as Yut re-entered his body but was unable to fight Utlapa off to warn the others due to his age. Taha Aki watched on as Yut's spirit left the world and felt great rage. The wolf shuddered and transformed into a man before the eyes of the warriors.

However, the man was Taha Aki's spirit self, which the warriors recognized instantly. Utlapa tried to run but Taha Aki had the strength of the wolf and killed him. Everything returned to normal, however, he kept in place no spirit travel. From then on he was known as the Great Wolf or the Spirit Man. He led the tribe for many years because he did not age.

He fathered many sons, who in time found that they too could turn into wolves on reaching manhood. However, they were all different because the wolf form reflected the spirit of the man. Some became warriors like Taha Aki and did not age, others did not like to transform, and started to age.

Taha Aki's descendants no longer turned to wolves when they reached manhood. Only once a cold one was near would they return. The cold ones always came in one or two so the pack stayed small with 3 wolves until a coven came. They spoke to as if he were a man and promised not to harm the Quileute's.

His strange yellow eyes gave proof of this, and a treaty was offered to the tribe even though there was no need—they outnumbered the wolves and could have won easily if they fought. Ephraim accepted and the coven's numbers forced a larger pack than before. Over the years, the coven left and returned to but always kept true to their word and did not harm the tribe."

"But these are just stories passed down through generations, so along the way things may have been added, changed or removed" Billy's face broke out into a smile and I could see a spark in his eyes.

Once Billy finished talking, I was left amazed and stunned I turned to Embry whose smile got larger upon seeing my face full of wonder and amazement "wow, that was intense. Only question, what are the cold ones?" I look to Embry expectantly

He laughs at me "well the cold ones are vampires"

"Wow vampires and werewolves, I believe that's what Billy was meaning when he said things were added" I laugh at the end and smile before speaking my next thought "imagine if you guys could actually turn into wolves, obviously it can't happen but still imagine." I turn away briefly but I heard a quiet mumble come from Embry that sounded like.

"Yeah imagine" yet the tone in his voice seemed tired and as if he was actually experiencing or experienced what was being said. And now my curiosity has peaked once more, and the saying 'curiosity killed the cat' entered my mind ahh but satisfaction brought it back I respond.

A/N: Oh my goodness! 3000 words for this chapter, however, there was a legend talked about so that was pretty lengthy hahaha okay so 7 chapters done already I hope you are liking this fanfic so far and are enjoying Abbie and Embry. This chapter was more of a filler but it was to also bring in the legends so that in later chapters it can come into play :)

Also I added Billy saying "added, changed or removed" because Abigail still doesn't know about the group being wolves and the actual history. But the elders thought it was right to tell her their history as she is living with the Alpha and is an imprint, but they didn't want her to know that it was all true. Just in case you were wondering why Billy would say that haha.
