Previously: "I look to where Bella is sat, breathing heavily as we watch the two wolves disappear, Sam's voice snaps me away "take Bella back to Emily's" I perk up hearing her name, Jared and Embry come jogging over, I feel a warmth surround me as Embry holds a hand out to me giving me a smile, helping me up. I hear him chuckle "guess the wolves outta the bag" I slap his bicep with the back of my hand but I can't help the light laugh that escapes my lips." 

Abigail's POV

"Hey, I think, we should go back and see if Jacob's okay" Bella's voice is filled with worry and brings my attention back to the group, I look at her once more before glancing towards the boys with a smirk, a few chuckles leave mine and the boys lips before I glance back at Bella.

"I think he's going to be alright, it's Paul you should be worrying about" I see her brows furrow, and hear a snort come from Jared which causes me to look at him with my brow raised, he shakes his head at me in disbelief

"I hope Paul gets some teeth in him. Serve him right" his voice is strong and confident, as I open my mouth another voice enters the conversation 

Embry's voice is light but still confident "no way. Jake's a natural. You see him phase on the fly?" He moves his arm in the sky demonstrating Jake's jump, we begin walking and I feel his hand brush up against mine before his fingers gently grasp onto mine, cue my hearts flutter. Embry looks at me then at Jared with a confident smirk, showing off his bright teeth "I gotta fiver says, Paul doesn't touch him." There's a slight pause before Jared and I laugh, I feel Embry's hand tighten and look up to see his dumbfounded expression directed to the two of us.

Nothing's said as the boys quickly shake hands sealing the bet as I watch from the side shaking my head, "you shoulda said twenty" I look up at Embry to see him drop his head and shake it while there's a mumble under his breath. Jared walks over before popping his head between us whispering 

"Easy money"

We both shove him back and hear his laughter as he continues towards the house, as we get closer, I'm too engrossed in a conversation with Embry that I don't notice Jared has stopped until I feel my body hit his warm skin. Stumbling back I notice he's looking at Bella making sure she's following us, I turn around and notice she was walking further behind us

"Come on in, Bella...we won't bite" my head snaps towards Embry who has a cheeky grin on his face, I shake my head 

"That was bad...even for you" his laughter fills the air once more before he swoops in and picks me up spinning us around

"You loved it" I chuckle because it's true

Jared looks at us with a slight smile before his attention goes back to Bella "speak for yourself" he turns back around and heads into the house, Embry lowers me back to the ground as I shift my eyes towards Bella who doesn't seem fazed to his words, but she does however look nervous.

I go to follow Jared but Embry stops walking halting my movements as well he looks at Bella "oh, hey, about Emily...Sam's fiance...don't stare. It bugs him" his voice is strong with emotion it shows how much these boys care about Emily. She really is like another mother to us all.

Bella crunches her brows in confusion at us before raising her brow "why would I stare?" her voice is laced with scepticism.

Embry begins to walk again and I follow beside him, throwing "you'll see...com'on" over my shoulder towards Bella, I hear her start walking again and follow behind us, before we enter the house

Emily's voice drifts out from inside "you guys hungry? Like I have to ask" she laughs and we join in, Emily lifts her head up and the smile that was once on her face, drops into a straight line when she sees Bella in the doorway, Emily looks questioningly at us "who's this?" 

Embry lifts his head up with food in his hand, finishing his mouthful "Bella Swan. Who else?" A look of recognition crosses her face, from the name, she can finally put a face to the friend I keep telling her about and the girl causing the wolves strife 

With a cheeky smirk she glances at Bella "so, you're the vampire girl" a knowing look in her eyes, I snap my head up with wide eyes, worried about how Bella would react to Emily bringing the Cullen's up, I try and discreetly shake my head at her to drop that subject.

Bella walks in silently before she glances at Emily "so, you're the wolf girl" I stifle a laugh at the statement and see the boys looking at the two with grins seeing what's going to happen.

Emily cracks a smile as she chuckles, she accepts her, "guess so...well, I'm engaged to one" she flashes her hand and wiggles her fingers the small diamond glinting a magnitude of colours as the sun rays reflect from it. She places a tray of large blueberry muffins on the table and I notice Jared and Embry quickly reaching out to grab them "save some for your brothers" she sends a pointed look at Embry. Who looks like a child being scolded and slowly puts the second muffin he had in his hand down onto the tray, Emily walks behind the two and smacks the back of their heads "and ladies first." 

I burst into laughter at the boys rubbing their heads and grab two muffins, I'm saving one for later but know that if I don't grab one now they will be gone later. I begin to eat the first one I picked in front of Embry and tease him with it he just stares at the muffin and snatches it from me and shoves the remaining quarter into his mouth. My eyes are wide and my mouth is open in shock.

Did he just?

My eyes narrow at him and I see him gulp, as he slowly leaves his seat to back away, I let out a war cry as I launch from my seat and jump onto him causing us to fall to the ground. I'm focused on tickling Embry as I sit on his stomach laughing as he rolls around struggling to breath through his fits of laughter.

3rd Person POV

Emily looks away from Embry and Abbie on the floor to Bella "muffin?"

Bella smiles at her "sure. Thanks" before sitting down at the table and watching on at how easily Abbie fits in with them a feeling of envy washes over her, Emily smiles gently 

"Leave it up to Jake to find a way around Sam's gag order" her voice is knowing and holds humor as she talks, Bella goes to say something but is interrupted by the sound of a body hitting the floor with a hard thud, she glances over and sees Abbie on her back. Embry was now sitting up gulping in air trying to get his breathing back to normal

Bella shakes her head lightly "he didn't say anything to me" she goes to add on but Embry cuts in

"That's a wolf thing. Alpha's orders get obeyed whether we want to or not. Alright, check it out! We can hear each other's thoughts." He has a big toothy grin on his face as he informs Bella about them, he sees nothing wrong with this but Jared glances over in alarm with an annoyed expression on his face

"Will you just shut up? These are trade secrets. Damn it! This chick runs with vampires." He points to Bella as he talks and Embry looks up at him guilty with a slight shrug

Bella releases a slight awkward chuckle "I can't really run with vampires. Because they are fast" Abbie looks up to see how Jared is going to react, his head pivots towards Bella with an incredulous expression before he tilts his head

"Yeah? Well we're faster" he leans towards her as he pauses to watch her expression as he continues with a smirk "freaked out yet?" He raises his brow

Bella shakes her head gently and lets out a little tsk "you're not the first monsters, I met." She gives a small smile, Abbie cracks a grin at hearing the response

Jared nods his head and then a grin graces his lips while Embry laughs as he looks towards Bella "Jake's right. You are good with the weird" that was their way of accepting her.

Abigail's POV 

Embry and I are still on the floor as we watched the exchange, my attention is snapped to the door when I hear the distinct sound of footsteps on the timber threshold, I see it's Sam and a small smile reaches my face. He instantly finds Emily and makes his way over to her with a "hey Em" directed to her, he reaches her side and wraps an arm around her as he kisses the scarred side of her face adoringly almost apologetically.

I look away not wanting to intrude anymore and notice that Bella was still watching the display a pained expression crosses her face, I get up and brush off my pants and feel Embry stand beside me. Our movement causes Bella to snap over to us but then her attention is quickly occupied by the new arrivals in the door way, their laughter and loud footsteps are heard. Jacob and Paul jab at one another as they continue into the house, I notice that Bella's face looks relieved when she notices that Jake is unscathed, the same can't be said about Paul though. Jared, Embry and I crowd the boys and look at Paul expectantly and then see it.

A faded scar on his arm.

"WOOO!" 

Embry throws his fist in the air before turning to Jared with a smirk "ha! Pay up" I see Jared roll his eyes and can't hear the mumble under his breath, he reluctantly hands over the five bucks into Embry's awaiting hand. I avidly watch the boys and we all laugh, my eyes slowly make their way over to Bella and Jacob are looking at each other and I see him nod solemnly towards the door. I watch intently as Bella follows him out of the door and their figures go wondering off down the road.

My attention is quickly averted to the boys when I hear wrestling and see the three rough housing, but I notice that when Paul and Embry catch each other's eyes there's an underlying threat. We've all noticed that there seems to be a rivalry beginning between the two, Sam is keeping an eye on it but I can't help but think that it has something to do with me. I will question him about it later, which him I don't know yet, but I want answers.

We all spend a couple hours just lounging around the house eating the food that Emily provides us, so nothing different to our usual days, but this time we're filling each other on things that have happened between the boys duty as protectors. It's as if we know that this is the last time we can have a care free moment, and that this group will never be the same. Hindsight is sure a great thing, if only we knew what was in store for us, we could all be prepared a little bit more.

I glance over to my right to notice Embry making his way closer towards me he leans over where I'm sitting on the couch to talk lowly in my ear, which sends shivers down my spine. I always hated when people did this, but when he does it, it's a pleasurable sensation, I'm betting my money on the imprint bond "I was wondering, if you were free tomorrow did you want to hang out, just the two of us?" He lifts his face away from my ear and I can see his eyes which are full of nerves and hopefulness, I smile happily at him

"Sure I'm not doing anything and that sounds great"

3rd Person POV

While Abbie sat at home with Emily and Embry - who had the day off from patrol, the rest of the boys were out in the woods, keeping an eye on the hunting group as it included both Charlie Swan and Harry Clearwater, but also to find Victoria as her scent had come back. And this time it was strong. A fresh scent was great for them to track but it also meant she was there now and they had to be on high alert.

As the wolves stalked through the forest, their footsteps mirrored the rifle wielding humans, Victoria was high in the tree canopy eyes narrowed at the man wearing the police chief uniform. Charlie Swan. Her target. She effortlessly jumped between trees, her agile and nimble body soaring through the sky silently, keeping her sights on Charlie she dropped behind him ready to strike when she heard a sharp intake of breath.

Snapping her head to glance behind her she saw an older native. Harry Clearwater. Shot gun raised towards her, with narrowed eyes she flashes in front of him, lifting him from the ground by his throat, head tilting as a smirk makes its way across her red lips as she listens to his breath get stuck in his throat and his heart falter. She goes to finish the job when suddenly a russet wolf. Jake. Comes flying through the air pushing her off Harry, she lets go, dropping him unceremoniously to the forests floor, the two go tumbling down into the underbrush in the dried ravine. 

Harry's lying on his side clutching his chest as he struggles to get his breath, Charlie turns around when he doesn't hear Harry following him, but his eyes widen before he goes running towards his friend. Charlie is crouched on the ground holding Harry in his arms as he tries desperately to help, Harry's head drops back. While the hunting group are crowded with Harry and Charlie, the wolves pursue Victoria, closing in before she launches herself into the air, using her momentum to push off the trees, and weave herself between them, before landing and running straight for the cliffs. 

Jacob is gaining speed on Victoria and follows her, he nearly catches her a couple of times, he sees that they have reached the cliffs and watches as she launches herself off the floor to dive into the rocky waves below. He stands on the edge watching the water, but she doesn't surface, he turns and goes back into the forest where the rest of the boys were.

At the same time this is happening Bella has made her way to the forest with her truck, and is now beginning her hike to the cliff where she plans to jump, for the adrenaline. Bella makes it to the top and looks down at the choppy water crashing against the rocks before she hears Edward's voice calling out to her "don't do this"

She stands in her place as she takes a deep breath "you wanted me to be human...." she rips her jacket off "watch me" she's taking her jewellery off when he calls out again, 

"Please...for me"

Bella walks closer to the edge as she answers him "you won't stay with me any other way" she's at the edge preparing to jump

"Bella please" 

And then she jumps.

Back at the home, Abbie and Embry are cuddling on the couch as they watch a rom-com, they hear the phone ring before it stops as Emily answers it, all that is heard is the movies dialogue before the two snap their heads towards Emily as lets out a gasp. Alarmed they stand from the couch looking at one another before watching Emily as she nods her head along with what is being said on the phone although it is unseen by the person on the line.

Sniffles can be heard from her as she hangs the phone back up to the receiver, she looks at the two "that was Sam, he said Harry Clearwater...he had a heart attack" her voice cuts off as she's choked up 

Abbie's mouth opens in shock at her words "oh my god...is he alright?" 

Emily shakes her head sadly as tears glisten in her eyes "he didn't make it"

"Oh god" Embry hangs his head in despair over the news, his heart aching for the rest of the Clearwater's "poor Leah and Seth"

Abbie nods her head before adding "poor Sue" 

Emily wipes her eyes "Sam is at the Clearwater's house, helping, both Leah and Seth phased"

There is a shocked silence between the three, both Embry and Abbie looking at Emily in surprise of the news, Seth only just turned 14 and Leah...well they had never heard of a female shifting.

A/N: Hey guys, hope you liked this chapter it is definitely one of the saddest scenes in the book/movie as you see Charlie rush to his friend and desperately try and save him, but then it also sets up major character development and story plot. Sorry again for the delay, I moved states early this year and I've been busy at my new job - working nearly all day everyday and I come back exhausted then don't have the creative flow to write.
