Chapter 2
"Ali! Ali get up!" Frisk yelled as she burst into Alice's room. The wolf girl sat up with a start as she was jumped on by the over excited girl.
"Why can't I just sleep Frisk?" Alice asked with a whine. She liked sleep, sleep was nice and so was this comfy bed.
"Get up! We were going to explore more today! Come on and let's go eat!" Frisk yelled before grabbing Alice's hand and yanking her out of bed. She fell with a yelp and a curse under her breath.
"Okay okay I'm coming. Let me get dress and I will come and eat okay kiddo?" Alice told her and the younger girl nodded before running out, the door slamming shut behind her.
With a sigh, Alice got up and went into her closet to get clothes. Settling for a blue oversized pull over hoodie and black sweats, she changed quickly. Her bag for their journey was already packed and had plenty of oversized clothes to hide her furry appendages.
She never did tell Toriel about her. The goat woman only thought that Alice had problems with showing skin. She felt bad about lying to the mother figure but she didn't know what Toriel would think when she found out who Alice really was. That was something Alice didn't want to find out and took pleasure at avoiding that at all cost.
Alice finally left her room and down the hall to the dining room, where both Frisk and Toriel sat, eating and talking about random things. She sat down beside Frisk and smiled at Toriel. "Morning Tori." She said.
Toriel smiled back. "Morning my child, I hope you slept well." She told the girl and Alice nodded.
"I slept just fine! Not a single nightmare!" Alice answered as she dug in. She was lying of course, she had nightmares every night but she didn't want to worry the woman.
The rest of breakfast Alice stayed silent. She thought about how to tell Toriel that they were going to explore. She knew that the goat woman didn't want them to explore the outside world. Toriel wanted them to stay safe in the ruins.
"Alice?" Toriel's voice broke her out of her thoughts. She looked at the goat woman, who had a worried look on her face.
"Oops sorry, I was just thinking, didn't mean to make you worry." Alice told her with a small smile. Toriel smiled back as they finished breakfast and Toriel took the dishes off to the kitchen to wash. Frisk pulled Alice outside the small house and turned to her.
"Ali, when should we ask? I don't want to hurt Mom's feelings but I really want to explore." Frisk asked, her lip quivering slightly as she held in the tears. Alice knelt down and hugged the kid gently, careful not to hurt her with her claws.
"Frisk it'll be fine. She'll understand. You are a growing girl and I will protect you at all cost okay?" Alice reassured her. Frisk smiled and hugged back.
"Okay. Thank you Ali!" Frisk exclaimed before running inside. Alice smiled slightly.
She would protect Frisk at all cost, even her own life.

Frisk walked up to Toriel, who was reading beside the fireplace. Alice stood in the doorway, silently encouraging the child.
"Mom?" Frisk called out and Toriel looked up and smiled at the girl.
"Hello my child. What do you need?" Toriel asked and Frisk looked at her, determination in her eyes.
"Ali and I want to explore outside the ruins." Frisk told her. Toriel froze, as if shocked. She knew it had been coming but had ignored it.
"How about a fact about snail? Did you know that snails make terrible shoelaces?" Toriel said, ignoring what Frisk said.
"Mom, how do we leave the ruins?" Frisk repeated. Toriel suddenly stood.
"Wait here my children." She said and rushed into the basement. Alice and Frisk both followed her to the basement.
Toriel stopped a few feet away from the stairs as they made their way down. "You two wish to know how to return "home," do you not? Ahead of us lies the end of the RUINS. A one-way exit to the rest of the underground. I am going to destroy it. No one will ever be able to leave again. Now be good children and go upstairs." Toriel said before walking further into the basement. Frisk and Alice looked at each other before continuing into the basement after her.
Toriel, again stopped and never looked at them. "Every child that falls down here meets the same fate. I have seen it again and again. They come. They leave. They die. You naive children... If you leave the RUINS... They... ASGORE... Will kill you both... I am only protecting you two, do you understand? ... go to your rooms." Toriel told them before walking ahead again. Again they followed.
"Do not try to stop me. This is your final warning." Toriel warned as she headed towards the door to the exit of the ruins. Alice tighten her hold on Frisk's hand as they followed once more.
Toriel finally stopped at a door and looked at it while speaking. "You too want to leave so badly? Hmph. You two are just like the others. There is only one solution to this. Prove yourselves... Prove to me you are strong enough to survive." She turned to the two and the girls looked at her in alarm as Frisk's soul came out, signalling the fight. Alice was glad her soul didn't come out, though by Toriel's confused look at her she could guess it was suppose to.
"Mom we don't want to fight!" They both pleaded as they dodged the onslaught of fire.
Together, Frisk and Alice both continue to talk to Toriel, trying to talk her out of fighting, while also dodging attacks.
Soon, Toriel ended the fight and looked at them. "I guess, maybe you two will be fine." She told them. Alice gripped her hood slightly before sighing and letting go, it wasn't the right time yet to reveal herself yet.
"Mom, we don't want to leave the underground, we just want to explore some and make friends outside of the RUINS! We don't want to leave you all alone!" Frisk told the goat woman and Toriel smiled, tears in her eyes.
"Okay my children, you both may leave the RUINS. Please, be careful okay? Call me whenever you have the chance also." Toriel said and they both smiled and nodded. The three hugged before Toriel went back upstairs. Frisk looked over at Alice.
"You never told her about you being a hybrid Ali?" Frisk asked and Alice nodded.
"I'll tell her one day, how about now we leave the RUINS and go see what's next okay?" She suggested and the younger girl nodded.
"Okay!" Frisk answered and they both opened the door together. A breeze of cold air and snow blew past them and Alice was now extremely glad she had brought extra sweatshirts.
"Here Frisk, this will help you some." Alice said before pulling out a blue and purple striped sweatshirt for Frisk and throwing it over her. It looked like a dress on the smaller human, but worked to keep out the cold. Alice was now extremely glad she had fur along her body.
Outside the ruins was a snow covered forest. They didn't question it really, consider they've both seen and heard stranger things, and started down the path.
"Ali, I wonder what we'll see out here." Frisk said as she looked around at the dead trees and snow covered bushes.
"Probably more monsters, snow, and a ton of things that will give me a chance to throw in a snow pun or two." Alice replied as she held the smaller girl's hand and sniffed the air lightly. Her eyes narrowed as she smelt a presence following them. It smelled like magic, meaning it was a monster, along with pine, ketchup, and snow mixed into their follower's scent. They didn't seem like they were going to attack them, but one could never be too sure.
A snap sounded behind them and they both turned to see the stick they stepped over moments before, broken into pieces. Alice narrowed her eyes and growled threateningly behind them before they began walking again, Alice now on even higher alert then before.
She heard a shuffling of footsteps behind them and growled before turning, seeing no one. "Frisk, stay by me okay?" Alice told Frisk, who nodded and tightened her hold on the older girl's hand.
They continued to walk until they reached a bridge with a large fence that couldn't really block anyone. They both stared at it for a minute before hearing purposely heavy footsteps behind them. Alice tighten her hold on Frisk's hand as her fur stood on end.
The footsteps stopped and they waited to see what the figure would do. "HUMANS. DON'T YOU KNOW HOW TO GREET A NEW PAL? TURN AROUND AND SHAKE MY HAND." A slightly deep voice said. They turned around and Frisk took the figure's hand.
As soon as Frisk's hand made contact with the figure's hand, a loud farting noise rang out in the woods. The two girls looked at each other before Frisk started giggling, Alice joining in. The mysterious shadow on the figure disappeared, revealing a skeleton. "Whoopee cushion in the hand trick, always funny." He commented, grinning widely at the two girls. He wore a white tee shirt underneath a large unzipped blue hoodie, along with a pair of black sport shorts and light pink slippers.
"Anyways, you two are humans, aren't you? I'm Sans, Sans the skeleton, but you can call me Sans." He announced. Alice smiles at him, he was friendly so far and didn't want to attack but she couldn't let her guard down.
"I'm Alice and this is Frisk. Nice to meet you Sans." She told him. She had a feeling their journey was going to be very strange with this guy around...
