I was soundly sleeping when I heard a tremendous crash from the new neighbors' house. I got up right away and crept outside, hoping my mother wouldn't see. As I approached the house, I noticed brilliant red and orange lights emanating from a little vent in the basement. The vent is something I'm aware of because it also exists in my home. I crouched alongside it and peered inside. It was difficult to see, but I noticed a boy and a girl having a good time when two adults entered and began arguing with them. I couldn't understand what they were saying because the vent was so far away and they were all speaking at the same time, but I'm thinking it had something to do with the loud crash. I tried to come closer to have a better view, but I accidentally struck the vent, causing them to look over. I dashed back to my place and settled in for another night's sleep. It was 4 a.m. when I awoke, which is not a usual time for me. "Damn, I guess sleeping all day yesterday messed up my sleeping pattern." I got up to use the restroom before going to school. My mother would normally wake me up, but it is far too early for her. When I was ready, I decided to spend the remainder of the time trying to figure out what all the noise and lights were about. I looked online to find out who these people were and if there was anything they were hiding. After a long search, I came across a website on the dark web with an article about magical creatures that appear and act like humans. I was startled to see anything like this, and it was difficult to accept since there was no confirmation of its existence, so I decided to take a break and do something else. My mother came in a few minutes later, expecting me to be sleeping, and said, "hey- oh you're awake?" "I got up early, so I decided to get ready for school," I say. As she walked outside to her car, she smiled and said, "OK, I'll see you in the car." I trailed after, collecting my backpack and laptop but, by accident, forgetting my lunchbox.
