I told you all that I was going to do a chapter for my headcanon Mystrade child, Veronica. So, here it is! All of this takes place post-TFP.

That's how I invisioned her as a young teen, appearance-wise.

Veronica "Ronnie" Lestrade-Holmes was adopted by Greg and Myc (Mike) when she was ten, shortly after they married. Sherlock and John were immediately appointed her Godfathers. Greg is "Papa" and Myc is "Dad".

After her adoption, she settled into her fathers' hectic lifestyle with ease, and a simple routine was set in place; Greg takes her to school on his way to work and Myc picks her up from chess club after school.

It didn't take long before her fathers' and teachers caught wind of her strategic genius, and her chess skills rivaled those of her beloved Uncle Sherlock. One battle of wits took three days whole days of chess play before Sherlock, in a haze of sleep deprivation and caffeine overload, mistakenly put his king into check. Ronnie politely shook his hand, moved over to the couch, and promptly passed out.

In addition to her attuned strategic senses, Ronnie had a keen eye for the natural world. Greg will often take her hiking in his free time. It isn't uncommon for her to wander off-trail for a few minutes and return with a frog in her pocket or a snake wrapped around her hand. Greg finds it quite endearing, if not a little odd. He promised her one day he would by her a little lizard or snake, and she has held him to that promise ever since.

Ronnie was twelve when her Uncle Sherlock decided to teach her the violin. She learned it very fast, and now shows her skills alongside Uncle Sherlock and Dad every Christmas.

When she turned 13, Greg decides to take her to the Yard for Bring-Your-Kid-To-Work-Day. There, she followed around Anderson, asking him questions about his line of work. In a futile attempt to get her to leave him to his work, he took her to the morgue. After showing her a body from their current case, he described how he used clues left by MURDERERS to stop them from BRUTALITY KILLING PEOPLE! However, instead of traumatizing her, he only solidified the greatest truth ever in Ronnie's mind: Forensic Science is the coolest thing ever!

After that, Anderson leaves, and Molly finds Veronica still ogling over the shooting victim. Horrified, Molly attempts to remove her from the morgue. Unfortunately, Ronnie had made up her mind about staying, and so she stayed. Molly gave up, and gave her a pair of gloves and a smock. Molly soon fell to Ronnie's charm, and the two became fast friends.

For Ronnie's sixteenth birthday, her Papa finally bought her a little albino ball python. She almost cried from happiness and laughter after her Dad screamed and fell off his chair. She names her new friend Caspian, after her childhood crush from The Chronicles of Narnia. She kept that snake at her fathers' house while she completed school.

She and Rosie grew up together, and loved each other like sisters.

She went to the University of Liverpool for Forensic Science and graduated with honors. Soon after, she met her future husband, Steven Dimmock, son of DI Dimmock, and they had a son named Steven Jr. and a daughter named Shirley. She secured a job at Scotland Yard working alongside Molly, Anderson, and her Papa.
