Error in the code
AN: Alternate title - Why you should ask for peoples name and their reason for doing what they do.
They called him Error.
He could not say that he was particularly fond of the name, the fact that he had not given a chance to come up with a nickname for himself.
The name Error did not even have anything to do with his AU, from back when he had one.
Before it was erased by the system.
People called the creator Ink because he introduced himself as such. They called Swap!Sans Blue or Blueberry because said Sans had grown fond of 'Error's' nickname for him. Now everyone used it. Those like the Sans from Outertale was called Outer after his AU name.
The rest was named after a similar manner.
All but him.
It started with a comment Ink made. There had been no time for introductions back then, they just fought.
He honesty did not remember what the comment had been exactly, but it did have to do with the ERROR messages that tended to appear around his body.
Considering how bad Ink's memory could be sometime maybe it was not so strange that those ERROR messages was the only thing the artist seemed to remember about him.
So that was what Ink called him when they met again. That had been centuries ago.
And then all the others started using it too.
It honestly hurt.
He did not want to be constantly reminded by others about what he was. The messages was reminder enough.
Though in that contest, he guessed the name was fitting.
He was an ERROR in the code after all. Something that was not supposed to exist.
If it had been possible he would have erased his own code from the system long ago, but it wasn't.
His code was to glitched out to much for him to be sure he could erase it all in one go. The thought that just one string of his code would escape it was enough of a deterrence.
It was all he could do to keep those strings of his code from escaping as it was.
Sometimes he failed, and the string of code would infect an AU and start to corrupt it, causing it to glitch out.
He was rather relived that every time that happened he managed to get to it before the corruption caused any noticeable damage.
Even so, he hated the fact that the only way to extract the code from an AU was the destruction of said AU.
Underswap was the only exception. There was something strange with that AU. He almost completely destroyed it out of habit before he noticed that. By that point its destruction was already in motion and he ended up kidnapping Blue instead.
He was really happy that reseting it fixed it up completely.
At least it was one less AU lost to time because of his code. One less AU to feel guilty over destroying.
How many AU's had it been now?
He did not know.
If they could stop calling him 'Error'. If only they could stop driving that metaphorical stake into his soul.
He new he was an ERROR.
He knew he was a mass murderer.
He knew that destroying AU's was horrible.
But glitching out was worse then destruction.
He did not wish that fate upon anyone.
So he could not stop.
He would not voice his protest to what they had labeled him as.
To them...
...he would continue to be Error.
Error, the god of destruction.
