street lights (a/f)

Be the mountain where I run
The fountain I drink from
Oh, he is my song
Let the King of my heart
Be the shadow where I hide

Third Person POV

"You're afraid of commitment, Skeppy. I'm tired of being treated like a friend sometimes and being treated like I'm your boyfriend other times." Bad pulls away from Skeppy, looking down at the floor. He's practically yelling at this point.

Skeppy doesn't even know what to say. Bad has been acting distant, but he never knew it was because of this. Bad walks over to the window.

"Bad, I-"

"You're a coward! When I bring up the future, you act as if it doesn't even exist!" He looks up at Skeppy and brings his hands up.

"What do you even want? Do you know that?" Bad asks, putting his head in his hands. Skeppy feels his heart drop as he's staring at his friend, trying to think of something to say.

But the truth is, Skeppy is a mess.

But he thought that Bad knew that. That he was a mess that Bad wanted.

Something died in him in this moment, he opens his mouth and walks over to Bad.

Bad only walks towards the door before Skeppy can come up to him.

"I love you. I think you're the only one for me-" Apologizing words lace Skeppy's tongue. He can feel Bad's coldness. He can feel Bad drifting away.

"That's the problem. You think. You don't know." Bad opens the door and looks back at Skeppy one more time. He starts to say something before Skeppy can see tears forming in his eyes.

As he runs down the hallway, Skeppy is shocked. He feels like he broke Bad. Like Bad is glass and he just dropped him on the cold, hard ground.

Skeppy doesn't know what to do. No one has ever meant this much to him. He's never felt this way about anyone ever.

He can't lose Bad. He needs Bad. But more than anything, he wants Bad. He wants to wake up next to him, make Bad happy, buy Bad gifts, kiss Bad, be there for Bad.

Bad has showed up for him every. Single. Time.

So he doesn't even stay in his apartment for a minute. He runs. Runs after Bad.

As he gets to the elevator, frantically pressing buttons, heart racing faster than ever, the elevator door opens.

Everything is going slower than ever.

He needs Bad. These words are stinging him more than ever.

He needs Bad for his sanity.

He needs Bad for the old him.

Bad keeps him down to Earth. He's said it before, Bad's the sun and Skeppy revolves around him.

The elevator stops at the lobby, and Skeppy runs out, getting concerned glances from people in the process. But he doesn't care.

The door to the complex is glass and Skeppy can see hard rain pouring outside. He runs down the street. It's dark. They're dimming the street lights, and buildings are the only thing illuminating the city.

Cars are honking at him. He doesn't see any sign of Bad. Things aren't looking good. Skeppy's hair is soaked and he can barely see with the water in his eyes.

Until he spots Bad.

Bad is about to cross the street. The crossing signal is yellow. Bad's shivering and his wet hair is stuck to his back.

As Skeppy approaches the other, he can see the faint marks of tears on his face. There's a glow off the pavement. Skeppy doesn't know what to do, go up to him, follow him, yell out his name..he can't decide.

The signal turns red, and people start crossing the street. He doesn't have time to decide.

"Bad!!!"

Bad stops in the middle of the water covered street, bags under his eyes and a sad expression covering his face. Turning around, Skeppy throws his arms around Bad.

Skeppy pulls the taller into a hug, and Bad has his head faced down, and he's starting to cry again.

Skeppy can barely breathe, panting from the running. But he brings his hand up to Bad's face, finger under his eyes wiping his tears. The rain is pouring harder than ever.

Everything feels like a blur for Bad. The only thing he sees is Skeppy. He doesn't know if things will work out for them.

But he knows he wants Skeppy.

He feels as if the ultraviolet light shading from the lamp posts are telling him this love is worth the fight.

So he doesn't move from Skeppy's grasp. He stays.

"Bad. Bad oh my god, I'm so sorry. You don't understand. I need you. I want to make you happy. I want to be yours. Forever. Please, give me a chance, I-"

They can hear sirens of police cars nearby. Music coming from the inside of cars.

The silence is filled with anticipation as Skeppy stops talking. His hands are shaking, he pulls them away from Bad and holds back.

He stares at Bad. At Bad's face. At the eyes he's stared in so many times before. The smile that lit up any room. The lips he used to call home.

People are yelling. They're standing in the middle of the street. Gravity is the only thing keeping the two together.

Bad leans in to Skeppy. Leans into the boy's touch. He doesn't care how mad he is at Skeppy.

He knows he needs him.

"I know I hurt you. I know I don't deserve you. But please, give this a chance. Give me a chance. I'll treat you better than anyone. I'll be here. Please." Skeppy says, words blending together as he brings Bad into a hug.

The rain is all over their faces. All over their clothes. All over them.

He knows he needs him.

Bad kisses Skeppy. He kisses the lips he'll love forever. He holds the waist of the person he won't ever forget about. He puts his hand in the hair of the boy that he will stay with until the end.

Everything feels unreal. Everything doesn't have a feeling.

It's almost as if their love for eachother is novacane, numbing the pain of anything bad.

They pull away. "I shouldn't have walked out like that. I need you to know I love you. I won't ever do something like that again. I need you forever."
