Not Okay. (Sam Pottorff)
In this story I'm making Sam a little younger then he actually is. So he will be 17, everyone else will be the age they were during the tour.
Warnings: Abuse and mentions of rape
--------------------------
It had been over a year since Sam had his first panic attack in front of the boys. Even though only Kian knew the real reason to why Sam had the episode, Ricky, Jc, Connor, and Trevor all tried to make sure their 'brother' was okay.
The six boys were about to start their tour and had already started shooting the tour documentary. They were supposed to talk about their life prior meeting the boys, and if Sam were to be completely honest it scared the crap out of him especially because he felt as though his childhood was repeating itself. Before Kian came into his life, Sam had a very shitty life because he had no source of happiness, and even though he had several siblings Kian and his parents literally taught him the meaning of love, which is probably why he holds on so tight to Kian and all of the mutual friends they make. Sam was planning on saying some sappy story to the camera, but his mind was soon changed when he saw his dad beat little Levi for the first time.
"Sammy help" Levi screeched before Sam heard a crash, the siblings were at their Dad's house for the week and their dad obviously just got home, early. As Sam got down the stairs the stench of alcohol filled his nostrils making him nervous, it happened a lot, but not at 2 o'clock. When Sam saw Levi anger mixed in with his nerves, his little brother was shaking in a corner, and his dad was quickly advancing on him.
"Dad what are you doing" Sam practically yelled, it was the first time he had seen him physically hurt Levi.
"Giving him what he deserves" Their father smirked, grabbing Levi's wrist and pulling him toward him and hitting him in his stomach. Soon Sam's nerves were nonexistent and all he felt was anger seeing the tears that his dad caused. Sam got in between the two and took a few blows to the face then ribs, he fell to the ground and his dad kicked into his stomach, before deciding that he had punished Sam enough. "You know I only do this because I love and want the best for you" Sam was told by his father. At this point Sam would usually agree, but seeing his dad beat Levi rather then him made something change in him. He nodded, but this time he would make the after result different so his brother could have a real childhood.
Sam packed a bag full of Levi's clothes and carried his little brother to his car, he didn't bother packing any of his own clothes knowing that it would take to much time and that the boys would let him borrow their clothes. He then drove towards the O2L house not knowing where else to go considering his mom and sister were out of state for the week. When he got to the house he grabbed the key that Connor had given him out of his pocket and slid it into the door knob. He was greeted by an excited Wishbone at the door and knelled down petting him to calm the dog down, while being careful not to jossel Levi too much and moved towards the couch so he could sleep.
"Holy shiz," Sam jolted awake, he kept his bruised face to the pillow and brought his finger to his lips signaling for Ricky to be quiet so he wouldn't wake Levi, "What are you doing here? I don't mind, but why didn't you call?"
"Check the group chat" Sam mumbled, pushing the messy hair out of his eyes. He had texted the boys when he stopped to bring Levi to the bathroom, during the drive to the house, saying that he and his dad had a fight and he was sleeping over, of course he had also texted Kian separately telling him that he was ready to tell the boy's for Levi if not himself. Ricky went to hug him and Sam flinched making Ricky frown.
"Are you okay" Ricky asked genuinely concerned for the younger boy, he had often come to the house in the early hours of the day, but had never brought Levi to the house before. He nodded his head and sat up to show that he was okay. "What the fuck?"
Ricky allowed himself to swear for once, he was completely and honestly pissed that someone hurt his little brother. Ricky sat down and brought his hand to Sam's face as Sam grimaced from the movement in the couch jostling and lack of support of his aching ribs.
"Sammy, where are we" Levi said in confusion, luckily he had no visible bruises like Sam did in his face. "Ricky!" Levi giggled, seeing the older boy and jumping up to hug him. "Is this your house?" Levi said looking like a lost puppy, but excited at the same time.
"Hey Levi" Ricky felt his anger start to leave him slowly being replaced with feels from how adorable Levi was being. "Yeah I live here. And guess what? All of the other boys are here to!"
"Even Trevor?" Levi asked, slightly mispronouncing the older boys name.
"Yeah Levi, even Trev. You can wake them up if you want." Levi hopped off the couch and pattered up the stairs.
The two boys sat in silence for a few moments until the heard groans and a distinct 'why is there a naked child in my room" followed by the boys walking down the stairs and into the living room. Jc was snappchatting with Trevor and Connor while Kian was holding Levi. Kian sat right next to Sam, and let Levi down, he knew what had happened and wrapped an arm around Sam's shoulder hoping to give the younger boy comfort.
Sam was reclined against Kian and closed his eyes holding his brother close to his chest. Sam then heard a gasp, the boys had finally seen his bruised face.
"Holy fuck, Sam"
"What the hell happened"
"I will literally kill the shit who hurt you"
Were the reactions Connor, Jc, and Trevor had, Sam opened his eyes at there words and looked at Kian mentally telling him to take Levi out of the room.
"Hey Levi, do you wanna go to my room? we can play on the computer" Kian said using the voice he reserved for the child.
Levi perked up and giggled then ran up the stairs with Kian chasing him. The other four boys waited until he heard the door close upstairs, they knew that if Sam sent Levi out it would be either extremely important or mature.
Connor moved towards Sam slowly and brought his hand to Sam's cheek he looked over the bruises and sighed, before he would had thought that Sam was being bullied, but considering that Sam dropped out of school Connor knew that it must be much more.
"Are you okay?" Trevor said, from next to Jc, despite there being open spaces on the couch, both boys sat on the ground.
"I will be" Sam paused, he wanted to phrase his words right and not have a repeat of when he told Kian and just blatantly say 'My dad beats the crap out of me'.
"D-do you remember Teen Hoot last year when I had a panic attack?" The four boys nodded and Ricky wrapped Sam into a side hug, remembering how scared he was for his friend that day. "I- um- the reason," Sam's breathing picked up.
"It's okay Sam" Connor said placing his hand on Sam's shoulder ignoring the flinch that his touch caused. "You don't have to tell us until you're ready."
"No!" Sam burst, his voice almost at a yell, "I don't want you to know. I NEED you to know" The four boys nodded, silently telling Sam to continue. "You know, I don't have a good relationship with my dad. Yesterday I walked in on him hitting Levi, I called the cops last night."
"Sammers" Jc said, feeling sympathy for the boy but not knowing what else to say.
"But that's not it, he has been beating me since I was diagnosed with diabetes." Sam's voice was barely above a whisper, and he let tears freely run down his cheeks. "He raped me for getting in between him and Levi,"
Ricky audibly gasped, while Jc pulled Trevor close to him as if someone would swoop by and so the same to his youngest 'brother'. Connor just looked Sam in the eye and pulled him into a tight hug"
"You'll be okay" Connor cooed into Sam's ear, "It will all be okay"
"I'm proud of you" Jc vocalized.
"I called the cops on my dad" Sam deadpanned, his voice upset.
"You got yourself out of a bad situation," Jc rebuttaled, letting go of Trevor and kneeling in front of Sam he could look him in the eye. "You probably saved Levi"
"I should have called sooner," Sam whined, putting his head in his hands.
"Sam" Trevor started, surprising the other boys, he had been silent for almost the entire conversation. "You're not even 18, it's understandable that you were scared"
The boys all looked at Trevor, they had never seen there youngest be so deep.
"Kian knew that didn't he, that's why he took Levi out" Ricky wasn't accusing Sam just stating the obvious.
Sam nodded, "I wouldn't let him call the cops. We fought about it constantly, he said eventually he'd hurt more then me, and he was right."
"Sammy" Sam quickly wiped the tears away before getting jumped on by a flying child. "I'm hungry"
"Sorry," Kian apologized as he walked in. "Levi really wanted food"
Trevor stood up and scooped Levi into his arms, "Come on, Bud. Let's go make pancakes for everyone." He then shot Sam a look, saying that he would keep Levi occupied for the time being.
Kian scooted himself in between Ricky and Sam and wrapped his arms around Sam tightly closing his eyes, both boys smiled knowing that for the first time in there 10 year friendship, Sam was okay.
