• one last dance •
an- hi here's the second one for today... this is based off of a song called One Last Dance, by Us The Duo :)
My main @Hamil_Love also did one like this, we kinda made them together in contrast to our own writing differences, so enjoy :)
-Alex's POV-
Those certain blue eyes I've picked out of the crowd drew me in. I caught myself staring at you, only to be surprised to see your eyes flicker to me.
Hundreds of eyes in the room, but yours found mine.
Before I could stop myself, my legs thrust me through the crowds of people, right in front of you.
"H-hey.." You mumbled under a raspy breath, eyes still glued to my frame.
"Hi..I'm Alexander.. Alexander Hamilton.. Uhm.." I blink quickly, an obvious blush masking my confidence, "Would you.. want to dance?" I mentally cursed myself for my shy tone, but the way you looked at me stopped my train of thought completely.
"As long as it's with you." You smirked, sending my heart further into the abyss. Your smile was so genuine, and dare I say a little mischievous.
I asked you to dance, and by chance, our hands intertwined.
I hold out a shaky hand, my blood running cold the second you took it. The familiar slow song was muffled in the background as I marveled at your features, your freckles shone under the lights. You didn't look at me, keeping your eyes glued to the floor. I took this as an opportunity to explore, carefully wrapping my arm around you.
I had no clue this dance would lead you to me.
It had been planned for a while. I had more confidence in me than ever, or so I thought. The moment my knee hit the floor, all of my thoughts and words disappeared. I was helpless. I had no clue what to say. I only remember my heart racing and my head spinning as I looked up at your teary expression, somehow finding it in me to ask.
Hundreds of friends in the room, and you're dressed in white.
I heard the many voices cheering, few of those I picked out as our best friends. I smiled eagerly, positive I could do it. Again, my love, you proved me wrong. The door creaked open, and you stunned me. I stuttered loudly for breath, catching a few odd glances, followed by loving smiles.
You walk down the aisle, and I smile to know that you're mine.
I scared myself again, by whimpering quietly under my breath. A silent tear slipped from my face, drawing no attention whatsoever. You look around the room, with the happiest look on your face, finally having settled your gaze on me.
We cheers our champagne and wait for our song to begin.
The beat slowed, that tune flowed carefully out of those speakers. Your beautiful blue eyes lept to mine.
The band starts to play, and I asked you to dance once again.
You grabbed my hand, lifted me up, and swept me away, yet again. I smiled into you and we swayed to the music of the song, remembering the night we first met.
Fifty-nine years have gone by since you said yes.
I held your hand tight, wiped away the tear that fell from your tired eyes.
Even now in your hospital bed, you still look your best.
I kissed your head lightly, watched your eyes close lightly. A small sigh escaped your wrinkled lips, allowing your eyes to reopen.
We might be old, but there's still one thing we can do.
I pulled out my new smartphone, the idea of it still fresh. I put on our song, and squeezed your hand tighter, our rings touched with a quiet ting.
Put on our song, let's pretend to dance around the room.
It wasn't long after. Everyone knew it was time. But, I never let go of your hand.
Thirty five hours have gone by, since your last breath.
I stare at our ceiling, this feeling inside me that I'm certain you felt too.
Memories of dancing with you are all I have left.
I pull out our bedside drawer, taking out our wedding picture.
Just a few seconds before it's my time to go.
I grip our life tighter, pulling it closer to my chest.
Hello, My God and my love, at last I am home.
