That Summer 4

For the rest of the photoshoot, Jungkook didn't spare a glance to Taehyung. He knows he's standing behind, maybe leaning against the wall as he showed support to his daughter.

He just didn't look at him, not one bit as he took pictures of the five little children with different sets of summer wear.

The ravenette even tried his best not to gaze at the little blonde, with her boxy smile on sight, reminding him that she's Taehyung's own.

That Taehyung is already a father of a beautiful child, with Jungkook out of the picture.

As soon as Jungkook takes the last shot, he called it a wrap. The little children hurried to their parents while Jungkook quietly stared at the monitors, picking the best shot with their editor Jisoo.

"I think that's the best one." Jungkook murmurs.

"You think so?" Jisoo leaned forward, clicking the mouse to scan the other pictures. "I think this isn't bad either." She muttered, seriously weighing down which one would be the best to be featured in the magazine.

The ravenette nodded his head. "Yeah. This one's also good."

They were busy discussing which one to pick when he heard a familiar voice.

"Hey.. Baby no!"

Jungkook turned his head when a hand clutched him by his arm. He saw the little blonde smiling at him.

"I told you.. No-"

Jungkook snapped his head, seeing Taehyung rushing towards the little girl.

"Sorry. She keeps on insisting she wanted to say goodbye." Taehyung awkwardly grabbed Jennie's hand, but the little girl didn't want to go unless she says it herself.

Jungkook smiled at her. "Are you going home now?" He asked, ducking down so their faces are levelled.

Jennie eagerly nodded her head. "Yes. Thank you Topogtrater." She smiled, planting a soft kiss on Jungkook's cheeks, catching the latter off guard.

Jungkook smiled, pinching her small nose. "Is that a goodbye kiss?"

Jennie nodded her head, beaming cutely. "Goodbye Mr. Toportragter." She leaned in once more, kissing him in his other cheek.

The ravenette couldn't help but smile fondly at the little angel. "Call me Jungkook next time." He muttered, not wanting the child to keep on struggling everytime she says the word photographer.

"Jungkook?" Her brows furrows, as if thinking of something. "That's the name of my--"

"Okay, baby. Time to go." Taehyung hurriedly placed his hand over his little girl's mouth, stopping her from saying nonsense.

He carried her in his arms, uncertain whether to bid Jungkook goodbye. He gazed towards the ravenette, who's looking at him with unreadable expression.

"Um.. Thank you?" Taehyung mumbled, sounding like a fool. "We'll get going." He added before rushing out of the room with the old woman following behind.

The ravenette sighed as he followed the brunet's back with his lonely gaze.

--------

It's been three days since the encounter Jungkook had with Taehyung. He wasn't able to focus on his work, can't even sleep without thinking of the brunet's face, still beautiful after all these years.

He looks matured, but it suits him just fine.

During those three nights, Jungkook wasn't able to keep his mind away from imagining the brunet. He wonders about the feeling of those luscious lips, remembering the first time they had kissed in the beach.

The ravenette sighed, helpess at the fact that he's still so hung up over him after all these years.

He took his time off from work, not wanting to mess up just because he couldn't stop thinking about a man.

"Ready to go?"

Jungkook turned his head to the direction of his now opened door with Jimin smiling at him.

He quickly took his phone and wallet before nodding his head to the older.

"Let's go."

They hit the road in a minute, going to the pizza place that Jimin brags about. It's already 7 in the evening, but who cares, pizza's perfect any time of the day.

"You would definitely love that place. The pizza's good, yes, but the staff are better looking." Jimin said, grinning from ear to ear.

Jungkook huffed at this. "So that's why you're a regular of that place."

"You bet." Jimin answered as they sped up to their desired location.

The place is not too far from their home. Jimin parked his car in front before the two of them head out.

Jungkook roamed his eyes inside the place, satisfied by its ambience and the aesthetic. He looked for a perfect spot while Jimin orders what he described to be the best flavor in the list.

Not much people can be seen eating inside, which is something Jungkook quickly liked about the place. He hates crowd especially when he's not feeling really good.

He was busy fumbling through his phone, taking pictures of the painting in the wall that captured his interest when he caught a familiar little girl in his camera.

Jungkook immediately puts down his phone, seeing Jennie running towards his direction.

"Mr. Jungkook!" She beamed, plunging herself to Jungkook's open arms.

He carried her, his heart thumping off his chest at the thought of one thing. If she's here, then..

"Jennie!"

Jungkook saw a dashing Taehyung, his face in great awe when he locked eyes with him.

"J-Jungkook.." Taehyung barely whispered.

"Mr. Jungkook, I miss you!" Jennie kissed him on his cheeks.

"I miss you too, pretty girl." Jungkook responded, though his eyes aren't leaving Taehyung's wide ones.

"Sorry about that. She seems to.. like you." Taehyung murmured, eyes averting his intense gaze.

Jungkook didn't say anything as Jennie ruffles his hair. "Mr. Jungkook, why are you here? Are you taking pictures again?" She innocently asked, finally deciding to sit on his lap.

"No baby. I came here to eat pizza, like you." He answered, noticing how great her resemblance with Taehyung is, up close.

"Really? What's your favorite? Mine's cheesy overload." She said with pride, which makes Jungkook smile even more.

"I don't really have a favorite yet. This is my first time here. Is yours good?" He asked, indulging with the innocent conversation while Taehyung stood uncertain in front of them.

"It is.. like good good." She answered, nodding her head vigorously.

"Really? Maybe I'll try that one next time." He responded, making Jennie excited.

"You can share with me. Papa ordered us a huge one." She demonstrated with her hands how huge the pizza could be, well a bit exaggerated.

Jungkook gazed at Taehyung who looks like he wants to take Jennie away so she'll stop blabbering too much.

"Can I play?" Jennie asked, getting his attention once more. She's eyeing his phone on top of the table.

"Baby, no. Let's go and I'll let you play with my phone. You're taking too much time of Mr.. Jungkook." Taehyung aimed to get Jennie off Jungkook's lap, but the mischievous little one just moved away and crawled to the other end of the chair.

Taehyung widened his eyes in warning, but Jennie just giggled.

"It's okay. Here." Jungkook handed his phone to Jennie who shrieked with too much joy.

"Jennie.." Taehyung said, voice exasperated.

"You should sit too. I don't think she'll be done for a while." Jungkook muttered, gazing up on Taehyung who bit his lower lip in uncertainty.

He sighed, taking the seat opposite to Jungkook. "I'm sorry for the trouble." He mumbled, still unable to glance at the ravenette.

Silence fell between them, with Jennie's constant giggling whenever she finishes a level of whatever that game is.

Taehyung couldn't take it anymore so he decided to open his mouth. But even before he could make a casual conversation, Jimin came to their side.

"Hey Kook, the order will be-" He stopped, realizing who's with Jungkook. "Taehyung?" He blinked his eyes a couple of times, making sure he's not seeing it wrong.

"Jimin.." Taehyung mumbled, smiling a little at him.

"O.. Wow.. You're here?" Jimin doesn't know what to say as he looked at Jungkook then back to Taehyung and then back to Jungkook again.

"Uhm.. Yeah." Taehyung answered, feeling all too awkward. "We'll be going now." He said instead, but Jennie whined.

"No! My pizza's not even here.. and I still wanna play." She pouted, crossing her arm on her chest.

"Who's she?" Jimin dumbly asked, before realization hits him after putting the puzzle together. "Oh." was all he could say, his eyes automatically landing to Jungkook who didn't comment.

Another awkward silence fell in their table, but Jimin is quick to act. "So.. It's like a mini reunion." He joked. "Just eat with us Tae. This pretty little girl seems to enjoy playing too." He suggested.

There's a huge space next to Taehyung, but Jimin knows better. "Hey Kook, mind if I sit with that beautiful child. I want to see what she's playing." He asked innocently, not minding the instant glare he got from Jungkook.

Before he could even protest, Jimin pulled him off the chair, leaving him with no choice but to sit with Taehyung.

"Uh.. If you could.." Jungkook murmured, and Taehyung is quick to understand.

"Um.. Yeah.. Of course." Taehyung awkwardly moved to his right, giving Jungkook a space to sit.

He almost held on to his breath when Jungkook's arm brushed against his for a short while, as they sat together.

It was awkward. Definitely awkward.

Thankfully, the pizza came, making Jennie jump in too much joy.

"Pizza!" She beamed, getting a slice and munching it in an instant, not caring about the smudge all over her lips and cheeks.

They silently ate while Jennie enjoys her meal, not really hinting the heavy atmosphere circulating the three adults.

It's past 8 when they finished eating, to Taehyung's relief. He quickly held the hand of his girl as they walk out of the pizza place in silence.

"I told you Kook. You won't regret coming to this place." Jimin mumbled, a little louder for the two adults to hear.

Jungkook glared at him as he side eyed Taehyung.

"So.. do you have your car with you?" He asked in a low voice.

Taehyung nodded his head. "Yeah. We do... Uhm so.. Thanks." He muttered, not able to pick the right words to say.

"Sure." Jungkook answered, not really understanding what Taehyung is thankful for.

"We'll go ahead, then." Taehyung muttered, Jennie quickly running to their car.

"Okay." Jungkook responded, waiting for Taehyung to enter.

The brunet went to the driver's seat, not making eye contact with Jungkook who still looks at him from the outside.

He started the engine a couple of times, but whenever he ignites the key, the car won't start.

"What the-" Taehyung stopped himself and looked at his daughter.

"Something wrong Papa?" She asked with a small knot on her forehead.

"Let me just check on to something." He answered, getting out of the car. He noticed Jungkook's already inside his own car.

Taehyung opened the hood, checked the engine and the things inside. He felt so frustrated, not understanding why his car would act up now."

"Everything okay?"

Taehyung was startled, flinching at the sound of Jungkook's voice.

"Oh.. Yeah. I think." He said, eyes focusing on the engine.

"Let me." Jungkook muttered, moving to his side.

Taehyung quickly moved away, not wanting to feel Jungkook's skin against his anymore.

It does strange things to him, and he's afraid.

"I think you should get this check with a mechanic." Jungkook uttered, letting the hood down.

"Okay." Taehyung nodded his head. There's nothing he could do but call a cab. He went to get his daughter out, holding her firmly in her small hands.

"Are you going to get a cab?" Jungkook asked, his eyes falling on the little girl who looks sleepy.

"Yes. That's our last option." Taehyung answered, noticing Jennie's hand slowly slipping away from his own.

He ducked, checking his baby's face. "Hey, are you sleepy?"

Jennie nodded her head. Taehyung decided to pick her up but was halted by Jungkook who took Jennie in his arms instead.

"I'll take you home." Jungkook stated, walking to his car with Jennie in his arms.

Taehyung panicked. "Uh.. No need. We could just get a cab and-"

"I'm taking you home. End of discussion." Jungkook said firmly, his commanding voice sending chills down Taehyung's spine.

The brunet wasn't able to protest, his feet taking him inside the car.

"Hey, Chim. Let's drop them to their home." Jungkook said as soon as he opened the door of the back seat, carefully placing Jennie who's eyes are already drooping.

"Oh. Okay." Jimin answered, seeing Taehyung smiling apologetically. He took a seat on the back with Jennie, when Jimin suddenly opened the door to the driver's seat.

"Oh yeah, I forgot. My friend texted me and he said I should meet him tonight." Jimin scratched the back of his forehead. "I guess you should go alone without me." He turned his attention to Jungkook, throwing the keys to him. "Kook, you drive."

Jungkook almost missed the keys. He wasn't able to protest when Jimin scurried away.

"Hey!" Jungkook called out, but Jimin just waved at him, grinning from ear to ear.

The ravenette groaned, his eyes meeting Taehyung's wide ones. He looked away as he went to the driver's seat, closing the door behind.

Jungkook looked at the rear view mirror and caught Taehyung looking at him as well. Their eyes met for the longest time that day, no one seems to back away.

"You should sit here in front so you can tell me the directions clearly." Jungkook muttered, finally averting his gaze.

Taehyung gulped at this. He turned to at his daughter, making sure she's strapped properly before heading to the front seat.

They were silent again as Jungkook started the car, and Taehyung knew it's going to be a long ride.

------

Took me three times to rewrite this because wattpad's not saving it. Damn.

Btw, I'm not planning on making it long originally, limit it to 4 parts only but my hand just keeps on tapping the keys and bam! 2000+ words and still unfinished. Lmao.

I'll publish part 5 soon.

Maybe I should just turn it into a book? Just kidding.

Love you 💜
