Garroth Ro'meave strolled down the sidewalk with a slouch and an upsetting appearance. His golden blonde and ruffled curls hung low on his face, and often covered over his eyelashes. He blows them away from his red and puffy ocean eyes with anger and the feeling of being betrayed. Finding out his now ex-boyfriend was cheating on him wasn't exactly what he had expected to hear when his best friend, Aphmau told him she found something out. He was sitting on his carpet when he had got a phone call from Aphmau. She told him everything. He couldn't believe his ears and once she said , "He's cheating on you," He broke down. After that first tear broke free from Garroth's eyes, the rest followed in an unbroken stream.
Though he wasn't in the mood to do anything except cry, he managed to get out of his house and walk around a little bit before school started, where he had to see his ex boyfriend. He ended up at a coffee shop that was a block away from his house and decided to go in and get himself something to drink. The coffee shop was huge considering the fact that it was built in a rich neighborhood and a lot of people got jobs their when they were running low on money needed more. Usually, the coffee shop would be crowded since people always went there in the mornings and afternoons. But there were barely any people in today and Garroth could feel the stares of other people trickling down his spine like a faucet as soon as he walked in. There was a bell at the door to signal everyone when someone walked in, but everyone seemed to stare longer due to Garroth's appearance. He awkwardly stuffed his hands in the pockets if his school uniform pants. He was a senior, and now he was so thankful that school was going to end soon and that he'd be heading off to college as a freshman. He was going to Phoenix University which was a very famous and popular college due to it's success all these years. As Garroth stands in line he cant help but notice a certain worker in the coffee shop who was going around and giving people their lattes and coffees, greeting them with a warm smile. His smile was as bright as dawn and seemed to collect the entire room into it's grasp. Garroth was entranced with the way his lips lifted upward and the way his dimples popped out cutely every time he beamed. He was impressed with how the boy's teeth were perfectly aligned and the warm glow his happiness gave just made Garroth want to smile. Not to mention the other features this boy had that absolutely sent Garroth down a whole of wonder, questioning how somebody could be so gorgeous. The boy had disheveled brown hair with a side of beautiful sky blue eyes. He had freckles across his sun-kissed tan skin but most of them were dotted across his perfectly shaped nose and cheekbones like stars. His white sweater hugged at his upper body and showed his muscles off nicely, and Garroth almost began to drool. The boy walks over to a table full of teenage girls, who looked like a group of freshman, and sends them a warm smile. "Do you guys need anything else?" He asks kindly and Garroth almost shrieks at the sound of this boy's voice. It was smooth and relaxing which made Garroth to look down at his feet with wide eyes. The girls at the table were practically drooling over Laurence just like Garroth was, but he had seen them in the school hallways before and he was pretty sure they all had boyfriends.
But he also couldn't help but take notice of the color the boy's apron was since it was his favorite color, which just added the affect to Garroth's invisible heart eyes. The coffee shop did this clever thing where they'd give certain workers certain colored aprons, so the customers knew their schedule. Workers with yellow aprons worked all weekend and a couple of weekdays, workers with green aprons worked a couple weekdays and only one day in the weekend, and then workers with blue aprons worked all week and had off on the weekend. The boy Garroth was drooling over had a blue apron on, which meant that if Garroth came here every morning before school, he'd see him. And possibly meet him. Garroth smiled to himself at the thought of meeting the gorgeous boy and then suddenly the word "NEXT!" was yelled out by the woman standing at the front, taking people's orders.
"Hello," Garroth begins as he steps forward and sends the girl a smile. His eyes were no longer red and puffy, and he now looked as if he hadn't been crying at all.
The girl nods with a smile, "Hello sir! What can I get you today?"
"Let me get a number nine but with almond milk. I'm lactose intolerant, so I can't have any real milk," Garroth orders sweetly and the girl nods and clicks the order into her computer but looks back up at Garroth with an apologetic look.
"Sorry sir, we don't have almond milk. But we do have lacto free! Would you like that instead?" She asks and Garroth sighs with a nod, he preferred almond milk but since they didn't have it he decided to just nod and go along with lacto free. Garroth also order a few breakfast snack before paying and getting handed his receipt. Just as he's about to walk away and go find a table to wait for his order, she hits him with a quick question. "Do you have a preferred server of any kind?"
"U-Uh, preferred server?"
"Yes! Do you have any workers here that you take interest in and would like to serve you your order?" She repeats her question again, but in better detail. The golden blonde blushes lightly and turns to look over at the boy he was checking out not too long ago.
"U-Um, what's h-his name?"
"Oh that boy there is Laurence. Would you like him to be your server?"
"Yes."
"Alrighty then! Thank you and you can have a seat!" She respectfully nods him off. He walks over to a table in the back of the room by the windows and pulls out his phone quickly, sitting down. He texts Aphmau rapidly, his school uniform pants rubbing against the leather of the booth seat. Time flies by quickly and before Garroth can even process his thoughts correctly, he hears footsteps coming closer to him.
"Hello," a flirtatious voice soothingly sings and Garroth looks up to see Laurence, beaming back down at him. His gorgeous smile was so contagious that Garroth was smiling back at him without even knowing.
"H-Hi," Garroth stutters out and Laurence's beam grows bigger. Laurence places Garroth's breakfast down on the table, handing him his latte after.
"You're lactose intolerant, right?" Laurence asks politely. A light taffy pink blush dusts across Laurence's sun-kissed tan skin and freckles, making Garroth want to just tackle the boy and kiss him right there. And now that Garroth looked at them up close, Laurence's lips did look soft and luxurious. And also, now that they were closer, the golden blonde could smell a frosted honey scent radiating off the beautiful brunette.
"Y-Yeah, yeah I'm lactose intolerant," Garroth replies back with a sweet grin.
"Well, I'm sorry that we didn't have almond milk. I know that you probably preferred that, hm?" Laurence places his hands at the edge of the small table and leans down lightly, slightly hovering over Garroth with confidence.
"Yes I do prefer almond milk but lacto free will have to do. But the latte tastes great either way, so I'm not mad about it," Garroth giggles.
"Okay that's good, I wouldn't want that beautiful smile of yours to leave your beautiful face so soon," Laurence flirts smoothly, both of them blushing ruby reds. Garroth knew it, this boy was smooth.
"Are you a senior in high school?" Garroth questions, trying to continue the conversation with the sky blue eyed brunette.
"No hun, I graduated high school last year. I'm a freshman at Phoenix University. What about you?" Laurence asks in return.
"I'm a senior but I'm going to Phoenix University next year. Hun," Garroth says in a flirtatious tone. He bites his lip when Laurence's dimples show themselves during the freckled boy's flirty smile.
"Laurence! We need you at the front!" A worker shouts out and Laurence sighs softly and frowns. His frown struck Garroth hard, he preferred seeing Laurence smile.
"I'll you around, cutie," Laurence grins at him again before walking off to the front, leaving Garroth a blushing mess. Eventually, Garroth arrives to school with the biggest smile on his face and doesn't even look at his ex boyfriend when he comes up to Garroth to apologize. His ex boyfriend was now no longer on his mind, Laurence is.
And everyday for the whole year, Garroth goes to that coffee shop to buy his usual latte and snacks, before and after school. Laurence was always his server, even when he forgets to ask for a preferred server. They always struck up small conversation every time Laurence gave Garroth his order, and they learned a whole lot about each other because of it. They were practically best friends but they had no way of contacting each other. And of course Laurence always gave the same apology for not having almond milk and having to use lacto free, but of course Garroth didn't mind. They flirted with each other a whole lot and sometimes Laurence would make Garroth leave as a blushing mess and sometimes Garroth would leave Laurence a blushing mess. The bottom line is, they definitely liked each other. However one day, Garroth gets his latte and food, striking up small conversation with the brunette as always, but when Garroth drinks his latte and his ocean blue eyes widen, it tastes different. It had almond milk in it. The latte was 100% better with almond milk and so Garroth licks his lips with a hum and smiles sweetly at Laurence. Laurence returns the affectionate smile and Garroth's heart almost melts. His smile was such a ray of sunshine. "Did the coffee shop finally get almond milk?" He asks.
Laurence shifts his weight and blushes furiously, locking his hands together behind his back politely. He was suddenly very very shy. "N-No, I um, you come h-here everyday so I just thought I'd go to the store and buy you a-almond milk," Laurence stammers swiftly and Garroth's eyes are immediately drawn to the brunette's lips. Man did he want to kiss that boy so bad. The golden blonde's heart raced rapidly in his ribcage, he was so overwhelmed with joy due to the fact that the boy he liked went out of his way to spend his money and buy almond milk so Garroth's latte could be better. A light rose pink blush painted across his cheeks and he bit his bottom lip slightly.
"Thank you, Laur," He whispers out, and Laurence snaps his head up at Garroth with wide eyes at the nickname. And then he gives the blonde a smile that just seems so genuinely sweet with just the right touch of shyness, that unexpected love and affection rushes through Garroth's body as if he was just hit with a tsunami.
"Laurence! We need your help with the coffee machines again!" A worker that Garroth finally knew as Laurence's older sister, Cadenza shouts. Garroth looks down at his feet sadly. He wanted to talk to Laurence a little bit more. Laurence rolls his eyes at his sister in a playful manner and reaches out and places a hand under Garroth's chin, tilting the Ro'meave's head up to look at him. They were both blushing rose reds.
"I'll see you tomorrow morning then?" Laurence whispers out, their lips two inches apart. Garroth gulps quickly before nodding his head slowly. Laurence backs away and turns to leave, heading over to help Cadenza with the coffee machines. A waft of Laurence's frosted honey scent attacks at Garroth's nose and he sighs dreamily. Resting his head on his hand, he watches Laurence walk off with heart eyes. And yes, Garroth did take a peak at the brunette's ass. Of course he did. And thats when him, being the smart guy he is, finally decides that he needs to date this man. He takes a napkin from the pile right by his food and pulls out a pen that he had brought along with him after he left school from his backpack. He writes down Laurence's name so the brunette knew it was for him and then wrote down his phone number with a heart. He leaves $300 tip for the pretty brunette and gets out of his seat and exits the coffee shop, walking down the sidewalk with an adorable little grin. "Wait!" A voice screams from behind him and to be specific, Laurence's voice. Garroth swings his body around to face Laurence, who was jogging towards him. Garroth blushes thinking about how he was even hot when he was running. Laurence arrives in front of Garroth and looks at him with such gentle eyes and a gorgeous smile. "Did you really leave this much of a tip for me? A-And your phone number too?" He asks in disbelief. Garroth was astonished with the fact that he'd literally ran out of his job to ask him that. It was cute, he thought.
"Yes of course, Laurence. The three hundred dollar tip is for you and use that phone number to call me," Garroth confirms, walking slightly closer to Laurence.
"Y-You– but I– how could I ever even thank you for t-this?" Laurence whispers out, looking down at Garroth's lips. They clash their lips together, Laurence's smooth hands immediately grabbing onto Garroth's hips and picking him up. Garroth's hands cup either side of the brunette's face and his thumbs rub Laurence's cheekbones. Garroth noticed that everything about this man was perfect, even his fucking breath. Kissing Laurence, Garroth received the taste of cherry bubblegum whilst Laurence received the taste of peanut butter crackers from Garroth, which he adored. Their kiss lasted for what seemed like their whole lifetimes before Laurence sets Garroth back down and they both pull away. Garroth hands still cup Laurence's face and the brunette's hands still lay on the Ro'meave's hips.
"You can thank me by taking me out on a date tomorrow at 8, handsome," Garroth whispers with a flirtatious wink and walks off rapidly, a goofy beam stretching onto his face. After all, it had been almost a year since Garroth first walked into that coffee shop and met Laurence. And science says that if you have a crush on somebody for longer than four months,
you're in love.
