The Labyrinth(Stay put, Stay safe)
Tommy woke in a dark dingy cell. A cell he was rather familiar with.
Tommy had been kidnapped at least 10 times now, and every time was the same. Wake up in the cell, wait for Siren to appear, argue with him about some random topic, get saved by Flame, go about his boring life, repeat. At this point, Siren didn't even scare Tommy, just made him laugh and roll his eyes.
Tommy was average height, with golden blonde hair. His eyes were a bright blue, and his skin was nearly as pale as paper. He was just your average guy, living an average life. So why, he wondered, had Siren taken a liking to him in particular?
As if on cue, Tommy heard a very familiar chuckle
"Hello Tommy, dear..." The soft deep voice came from the shadows around.
"Hello dickhead. Mind letting me go, and picking this up later? I have places to be."
Siren scoffed, walking into Tommy's view. Siren was tall, and thin. He wore a long leather coat over his gray shirt and black jeans. He had brown fluffy hair, and the only features you could see of his face was his grin. The rest was hidden by his blindfold mask. "You're my hostage. I can't just let you go!"
"I have a date for the first time in 4 years! Let me go just for now, you can kidnap me again later."
"Wait till that brat Flame comes to pick you up."
Tommy sighed. "Can I not convince you to make my life easier?"
"I'm not convincible."
"Fine then. I guess I'll just have to get ready last minute."
"Exactly! Now, you stay here, I need to pick up the sushi I ordered for us."
"You ordered sushi for your hostage?"
"Bye Tommy!" Siren said, ignoring the question.
Now, there was at least 20 minutes of boredom before Flame arrived to save him again. Tommy did everything he could think of. He counted, hummed, screamed, and walked in circles around the cell.
Oddly, Flame wasn't arriving, and Tommy's date was getting closer by the minute. At this point, he was thinking he'd need to escape on his own.
He fished around in his pocket for a paper clip, then he bent the ends out straight, and slipped it into the lock.
It only took a moment before the lock snapped open, and the cell door swung on its hinges.
Tommy quickly exited the cell and rushed down the hall.
As soon as he exited that room, he thought he'd be free, but much to his displeasure, he found a laser trap maze. What was this? A spy movie?
This new room was mostly empty, there was a closet in the corner next to him, some broken down cardboard boxes, and a boarded up window.
Tommy noticed a flaw in the laser maze. There was a small area at the bottom that a laser never crossed, but it'd be impossible to crawl through that small gap.
Tommy's childhood consisted of making due with whatever materials he had. Back then it had seemed awful, but now it was like a blessing.
He grabbed a long piece of cardboard, and laid on top of it. Pushing off of the wall, he glided across the floor under the lasers and to the other side.
That had to be the last thing, right? Wrong.
The next room Tommy entered to see rows, and rows of crossbows. To make matters worse, he could see a tripwire every 3 inches across the whole floor. He wasn't sure how he'd be able to get through, till he noticed a few ropes hanging down from the ceiling.
Tommy reached up and grabbed the first rope, and pulled himself over some tripwires. Then he gripped the second rope. Then the third, the fourth, the fifth, he had no time to worry about not making it to the other side. He had things to do.
When he touched the ground, he was on the other side of the crossbows. He climbed down the ladder in front of him
As soon as he made it down, all he could see was walls of gray concrete. He walked down the thin passageway, but all he saw was more twists and turns of concrete walls. It was a maze.
Tommy walked pointlessly around, unable to figure out which direction he'd come from, and which direction would let him leave. Why did Siren even trap this place? Was this not a hassle to get through every time?
The endless wandering would do him no good, he just had to think of a plan. How could he track where he'd been?
Tommy pulled the paperclip he'd used as a lock pick from his pocket. Perhaps it would once more come in handy. He scratched an arrow into the wall using the sharp edges.
As he walked, he continued to scrap arrows, smiley faces, and stars into the walls. Before seeing a metal door. He rushed over, relieved to finally be free, but it was locked with a keycode.
The lock required a 5 digit letter code. Tommy knew this would be where he messed up for sure. He tried some combos, but it wasn't it. However, when you typed, it would light up green for a second if a letter was right. So far, he'd gotten two letters. An M was the third letter, and it started with a T.
T_m__... What could it be? He tried another word, desperate for more letters. "Note", checking for an N or an O. It dinged. He had an O! Tom__
Then it clicked. He typed in "Tommy" and the door swung open." Huh, that was easier than he thought. But why the fuck was Siren's password his name?
Tommy walked through that door. The next room was empty, but the floor was light brown and dark brown wooden checked tiles. There was no way the room had no trap, but he couldn't see anything. He'd need to be cautious.
Taking a step forward, nothing happened. Another step, nothing happened. A third step, and the tile sunk down a bit. Tommy paled, realizing if his weight was lifted, something would probably shoot out or drop down at him. So he stayed very carefully balanced, he couldn't afford to mess up.
He glanced at the corpse next to him. That would work...
Bending down carefully, Tommy reached for the arm. Keeping equal weight on both feet proved to be really really difficult. His legs shook slightly. He reached out and gripped the cold wrist. A noise escaped his lips, it was hard to tug the dead man's weight without falling or bracing himself. As he tripped, he had tugged it directly on top,
After his narrow escape, Theo was exhausted. How many more traps could this man have? But he kept going. One step after another. Carefully watching what tiles he stood on. He noticed that some were slightly lower, those ones were triggers. Soon enough Tommy reached the other side.
The large wooden door, with a long, flat metal handle had a lock on it, it needed a key. Theo glanced around, only to see a key hanging about 7 feet in the air. Of course... He jumped up and swiped his arm at the key, missing it horribly. So he tried again. And again.
Tommy glanced at the flat handle on the door, he reckoned he could fit his foot on it. Reaching up, and stepping quickly, he grabbed the key before tumbling down.
He stood brushing himself off, and unlocked the door. The daylight streamed down on him. He was out! Finally!
That evening, while Theo was finally on his date with a lovely girl, Ms Molly Jones. They were at a fine restaurant, and sat at a patio table outfront.
"Sorry I'm late Molly! I had a run in with an old... friend..., and he kept me longer than expected!" Tommy explained vaguely.
"It's alright Tom. I'm happy you came, nonetheless." She smiled.
Out of the corner of his eye, Tommy saw Siren standing there, his mouth gaped in surprise.
Tommy tried to ignore him, but Siren came over.
"My hostage!" He groaned.
Well, needless to say, Siren would be updating his security system.
(Hope you enjoyed this school project. I didn't. It was stressful trying to write this when my brain is dead. But I hope it was worth it!)
