The Posse {Rodney}
Rodney's POV
Hello all, I am the infamous Rodney! I have a group of friends. Clive, Graham and Noel. We were walking down the passage in a gang like stance. Soon, I saw Dumber by himself. I almost felt like gazing around. Where was Nonsense? Not like I cared what the two dudes did. I'm not their friend. They only have each other, I have Clive, Graham, and Noel. "I wonder where Nonsense is?" Clive said, voicing what I had been thinking.
"Who cares? Dumber's by himself," I replied. "Don't tell me you're going soft." Clive blinked, but said nothing looking at the ground. Noel looked over at Clive, and I couldn't read his expression.
"Ready for the 'attack'?" Graham asked. I nodded. We started forward. Dumber's blue gaze widened, but he knew all to well what was about to occur.
"Sully, where are you?" I heard him whisper. His gaze had fallen to the ground.
"Aw, what's this?" I asked in a high voice with no slither of sincerity. "Calling out for your boyfriend?" I knew they weren't dating but Dumber's secret crush on his best friend was kinda obvious. I didn't understand why no one else had picked up on it yet. Dumber had turned red at my words and I heard the boys giggle behind me.
"We're not boyfriends..." Dumber said, running a finger through his longish hair.
"Oh really? A freak like you can't get your crush to like you? Such a shame. Really, it is." Clive and Noel gazed at each other before turning away. Dumber didn't even bother trying to deny it.
"HEY!" As if he'd sensed a disturbance in the force, the black haired, green eyed figure of Nonsense appeared around the bend and stormed towards me.
"Well, well, if it isn't Nonsense! Come to stand up for your boyfriend?" Nonsense, surprisingly, blushed at my words. I almost felt like blinking. I DID NOT expect that, but I didn't show my surprise, merely smirking.
"He's not my boyfriend," Nonsense growled in reply, clenching his fists. Nonsense was standing protectively in front of Dumber who was now looking at his friend with wide eyes and a blush.
"That's cute, you look like you're ready for a fist fight!" I replied in the high voice again. Nonsense glared at me.
"Try me, leech," he snarled. I was almost scared. Me? A leech! I never! "Don't make me actually say the word you know very well I'm meaning, snake." Nonsense looked like he was about to fight me. It almost made me wonder what I'd said that got him so ticked.
"Really?" I replied with a smirk. Nonsense took a threatening step forward. "I should try you?" Nonsense let out a heavy snort like a bull who just saw red. His expression was furious. Then, he just about exploded.
"SCREW OFF, RODNEY!" Nonsense suddenly shouted. Shock ran through me and my friends. Our eyes widened. The shout made us speechless. Nonsense— SULLIVAN— had just basically swore at us. I blinked blankly. Then, I turned and stumbled away. Clive, Noel and Graham followed after me. We stopped by our usual corner in the school. Clive and Noel stood beside each other. Graham was standing beside me.
"Okay, guys," Clive said. "I think we can all agree we didn't expect it to go that way."
"What way?" Noel said with his accent. Clive smiled at him.
"The way it went with Nonsense," he answered. Graham turned toward me.
"Yeah. It was almost like..." he trailed off. I looked at the three. Clearly we were still in shock.
"Almost like.... Dumber may have won his crush's heart without him realizing it." I added on to Graham's statement.
"That must be great," Clive said. "To be no longer unrequited."
"Big deal, you romantic son of a-" Graham cut me off before I could say the word. Clive gazed at me.
"Rods, when you have a crush you'll understand how painful it is to be unrequited." I scoffed at Clive's reply.
"You've gone soft. Who even is this mystery girl you have a crush on?" I asked him. Clive blushed and quickly looked at Noel.
"No one important. And trust me Rods, the 'disease of love' will catch you soon enough. It sneaks up on you almost without your premonition."
"It might even be someone you least expect," Noel added. His gaze travelled over to Clive. "You never know, Rodney."
"One day it'll sneak up to you and you will then lose your 'love is a disease' mindset. Having a crush is the best feeling in the world and also the worst."
"How did talking about Nonsense and Dumber lead to this conversation?" I asked. "We don't usually talk about this stuff."
"Rodney," Graham asked suddenly, "are you hiding something?" I blinked.
"No."
"Rodney..."
"If anything's bothering you...."
"Let us know, we're your friends."
"Nothing's bothering me," I insisted. "I don't know where you got the impression that I'm hiding something. Cause I'm not."
"Rods, are you sure?"
"Yes. Plus love's a disease anyway..." I said.
"Love? Rodney... do you... like someone?" I gazed at Graham in horror.
"No. I'm not 'in like' with anyone."
"Rodney..."
"I don't. The love thing is Clive's thing. Now, can we please change topics?"
