The Best Fishing Trip Of My Life {Curtis x Dani [PC]}

Dani's POV

I was riding my bike in Nimbasa City, for some reason. My Umbreon, named Danielle after me, was running beside me. Anyway, I got a sudden urge to check my Xtransceiver. I did so, my heart leaping for some reason when I saw that Curtis was available to call. I called him and he picked up. I found myself smiling at his cute little grin. "Oh hi, Dani," he said, his voice sounding grainy. "What do you want?"

"I... Want to chat," I replied. Danielle's red eyes were looking back up at me, like she could see something I couldn't. The Umbreon had sat down.

"Y-you do? Okay, what about?" Curtis asked. His eyes appeared to be sparkling. "Actually," he said. He looked around. "I found this great fishing place not far from Nimbasa. You're in Nimbasa right now, right?" I nodded and his eyes lit up. "Okay. I'll meet you there once I'm off work. The place is just off Route 16 in the Lostlorn Forest." I nodded again and signed off.

~~~~~~~~
I followed his instructions until I was in a deep part of the forest, nowhere I'd been before in the forest. I had to use Danielle's Psychic to clear a path. The path led into a clearing. How Curtis found it, I have no clue. While I sat alone with my Pokémon waiting for him, I thought about what I felt. Curtis and I had only talked on our Xtransceivers except for two times he'd asked me to ride the Ferris wheel with him, once after he'd come to pick up his old audio-only Xtransceiver and the other after an incident. We now regularly talked. I didn't have much time to think about it for Curtis had appeared. He had a fishing rod slung over his back. I had already taken mine out of my bag. I stood up and returned Danielle to her Pokéball. "Hello, again," he murmured. His cheeks were rosy with a small blush, the usual one I pretended I didn't notice when we talked. It had appeared after a few calls. "I assume I don't need to teach you how to fish," he laughed.
"Nope!" I replied eagerly. After awhile we were set up and were busy fishing. I felt a sharp tug on the end of the line, and it wasn't long before the whirring started. I quickly reeled in my rod and when the Basculin surfaced its weight caught me off guard and I stumbled backward. Curtis dropped his rod and caught me, causing us to stare into each other's eyes. The Basculin broke free and flopped back into the water. Curtis's soft green gaze had met mine. I stood up before breaking into a fit of awkward giggles. Curtis was giggling awkwardly as well. Danielle popped out of her Pokéball. The Umbreon shot us a look. The look, to me at least, translated to Really Girl? It's pretty obvious. I had to admit I didn't know what could be obvious. Danielle's glare bore into me. The glare translated to You're ridiculous. I'm a Pokémon and I can understand what's going on! I wondered what the looks translated to for Curtis. He seemed a tinsie bit unnerved. I lay back in the grass, as did he. I made the mistake of turning to look at him for our gazes locked. I felt tranquil. Danielle's gaze had been joined by another. Catherine, my Arcanine, had also came out of her Pokéball. Unlike Danielle, I couldn't read Catherine's gaze.
"Dani," Curtis said suddenly. "There's been something I want to tell." I was suddenly intrigued. "Actually...."
"Wh-" Before I could end the question, he moved forward and kissed me. I turned as red as a Cheri berry. Danielle's expression changed. It appeared to be saying, Nice work, boy. Curtis broke off. My face was a delicate shade of scarlet. We lay in silence for the rest of the day. It was only at the end of the outing that Curtis spoke again.
"I've wanted to do that for a while now..."
