Reader's pov
Different. That's what I was from my family. Though they didn't know..
Hi. My name is (Y/n) Clearwater. I was adopted into the family when I was 3, when I was found alone in the forest. No one knows where I came from, even though I was left with a soft, blue, baby blanket.
The police have tried looking for my parents but they are nowhere to be found.
I was abandoned.
The clearwater family accepted me as they had a young girl who was two years older than me.
She was delighted to have a sister to play with.
Few years later, Seth came along and with the new baby, no one really paid much attention to me.
That's when I found out, I was different from everyone.
I had gone wandering off into the forest, and the boys kept telling that there were scary monsters in the forest. That they were as white as the snow, and quicker than most wolves.
I'm guessing they were using the legends of our family history to scare me.
They kept trying to frighten me as I went to complete my dare.
Go into the forest alone, all the way to the river and come back.
I wasn't scared, more like excited.
I loved the woods but was never allowed to go in alone, without my parents or a trusted adult.
This was my opportunity and I knew it.
The boys continued to taunt me, as I stared at the dark, ominous forest.
But I couldn't hear their taunts, I was absorbed in my own world. I took a few confident steps towards the tall trees that covered most of our territory.
Soon enough, I ran into them, finally able to breathe.
'Fresh air...at last.'
I followed the small path, that was formed on the dirt. This would lead to the ocean.... For some reason, I hated water.
It would diminish the fire inside of me that I felt...Strange.. I never felt this roaring fire inside of me, trying to get out.
I heard a snap of a twig behind me, it startled me, which in result made me turn around.
"Guys? Paul? Embry?"
No response.
I shivered, feeling the wind wrap around me.
'Why am I cold?..'
Soon enough, in the dark, I spotted 2 dark red eyes.
Though they didn't frighten me.
"What do you want? Leave!"
A sudden act of bravery took over me.
"Mymy. What a brave and foolish child. Don't you know to not come into the forest alone?"
A growl ripped through the air, it had come from me.
"I said to leave...Ugh do you even shower? You clearly smell."
I seem to have struck a nerve in this odd creature, who walked out in front of me.
A human?!.....No. A monster.
A small flashback came to me.
~I remember my mother's warm embrace, seeing her elegant face as she set me down.
Soon she exploded into a ball of fire.
She took the form of a bird, but was engulfed in flames.
A white, beautiful yet fearsome tiger strolled on over.
His eyes held sadness, and a small hint of anger.
They both nodded at each other before running off into the distance.~
I gasped, and glanced around me.
The creature was missing.
All I saw was a circle of fire around me, and ashes that were still burning in front of me.
I went to give a sigh of relief when a screech came out instead.
My eyes widen as I went to cover my mouth, but was met with feathers and a beak.
'Gah?! What is wrong with me?!'
I spread my arms-wait wings and flapped them as I flew into the air.
'Wow! This is so much fun! I never want this to stop!'
All of a sudden, my wings turned into large white paws.
'WAIT WHAT?!'
I shrieked as I fell, hearing a loud yet powerful roar.
I grunted as I landed gracefully on my four paws.
'Paws?!....What is happening to me?'
My ears perked up at the sudden footsteps coming closer.
"(Y/n)! Where are you?!?!"
'Dad! Uncle Billy!'
I bolted towards their voices.
Once I spotted them, I was already back to normal. Just butt-naked.
"(Y/n)! Where are your clothes? And why were you out here,"scolded my father, before he picked me up, wrapping his coat around me.
My seven year old self finally understood the dangers in the forest that day and its secrets as well.
"...The boys told me to do it or they would steal my candy from me," I sadly said, batting my eyelashes as I looked at my father from underneath them.
He shook his head before walking back home.
Though Uncle Billy glanced back, unsure.
He gave me a curious look, yet somehow knowing look.
Did he somehow know? I was in deep trouble then......
~Timeskip a few years~
"Seth! Hey!"
I laughed at my 15 year old brother who gave me a goofy face.
It was my first day of school. I was homeschooled by my mother, as I had a few problems growing up ...uncontrollable shifting into a ball of fire or a tiger, which it was half the time.
Luckily my siblings hadn't found yet.
I couldn't bare to tell them, as I was afraid they would look at me as if I was some monster, like vampires ...besides Seth might shift... but Leah? She wouldn't be able to know..
"I'm so glad you're here with me for my second year!"
"Well you can show me the ropes, Turd."
"I'm not a turd," he grumbled as I ruffled his long hair.
"If you say so, turd," I teased, continuing to walk forward.
'Leah must be glad to have been done with school....I still have this year and next.'
I glanced up to see a few guys staring at me.
'Don't they know staring is rude?'
Seth was by my side, explaining where the classes were.
Everyone gave me a few glares.
'Of course ...I was different. Everyone knows about me...(And my skin didn't help with blending in.(this is if your skin tone isn't the same as the tribe, ignore this if it is.))'
I sighed, glancing at my naive brother.
"Hey Seth, mind taking me to my first class...?"
He nodded with a smile and lead me to my first class...which most people hate.
English class.
"Thanks Seth..."
I hugged my little brother, who complained about not wanting to be embarrassed.
His cheeks were a bit pinkish.
"Awww you're blushing," I teased, pinching his cheeks.
"Why was I excited for you to come here? All you're going to do is embarrass me!"
I'll admit, it struck a nerve. I was sensitive about people not wanting me around.
I gave him a huge and a fake smile before turning away.
A hurt look on my face.
"See you around, Seth."
Seth tilted his head before he left.
I went into my class and noticed the one and only, Jacob.
He was sitting in the middle of the classroom while I noticed Jared, Paul, and Embry, sitting in the back.
They sure had changed since I last saw them. We hung out a lot as kids, but they all went their separate ways as we grew older.
I hesitated, before heading over to Jacob.
Why should I talk to them, when they started to avoid me? Embry left me for Jacob, as the other two left me for different friends.
That made me wonder. Why are they hanging out, again?
"Hey Jacob. Mind if I sit here?"
He glanced up from his books and smiled at me.
"Sure. It's been awhile since we last talked."
"Sure has. Been extra busy with babysitting Seth...as Leah is still mopey.
"Can't blame her, she truly loved Sam."
"Yeah... still can't believe he left her for Emily... though there must have been a perfectly good reason why."
"You're still sticking up for him? He left and started doing drugs. He turned into an asshole..."
"Alright, what's going on? What do you have against the "druggy gang leader"?"
Jacob scoffed and glanced back towards where I suspect the boys were.
"He took Embry over to the dark side."
I looked back as well, to see Embry staring at his desk, guilt written all over his face.
The other two were just staring straight at us.
Though right when Paul and I locked eyes, I felt all fuzzy inside.
A small gasp was let out from me, as I saw a fuzzy future with Paul and I together.
I held my head in pain, before standing up, suddenly.
"I-I-I have to go," I quickly muttered to Jacob, who was giving me a worried look.
I gathered my things, and bolted out of the room, not caring that the bell was going off.
My heart was pounding like crazy, I needed to get into the forest. Or else....
~Timeskip to night time~
My stupid ass just stared at the ocean in front of me.
I couldn't believe what I did.
Why did I do it?
Was the stupid thing worth it?
'I swear, I'm gonna Kill them. I hate the water and I'm getting my feet wet! Ugh... but it does help with my problems. Mom always said that water was my weakness and it helps control my rage from overboiling.....'
My thoughts were interrupted by a loud howl.
'That wolf sounds frightened, and confused.... I must help it.'
I ran across the sand, jumping over the log boundaries, and into the forest.
My mind was just on helping this wolf, I didn't care if I left my shoes at the beach.
Screw them, I just felt a connection to this poor creature.
I debated on which form I should take before deciding my white tiger, I could get there without burning things up.
My body started to shake as I ran, and soon my fur burst out at the exact moment my front paws hit the ground in front of me.
It took me a bit, to find out where the howls were coming from.
'I recognize this scenery... it's Uncle Billy's place!... Oh no. The stories about the wolves who protected the tribe... they're true.... they never told me.'
It hurts me that they didn't even trust to tell me, when I told them about my secret. Did they not trust me?
I peeked out of the forest, seeing a rusty-colored wolf, along with Uncle Billy.
"Jacob! Calm down! Help will be here soon."
'That's my best friend?! Oh no. Jacob!'
My calling out to him was in vain. He wouldn't be able to hear me.....
'(Y/n)?! What's happening?!'
My eyes widen in shock, he heard me?!
'Calm down. Please. You have nothing to worry about.'
While trying to help him calm down, I walked out of the forest, shocking the two males.
"(Y/n)," said Uncle Billy, from the ramp.
My fluffy paws shortened the distance between me and Jacob.
'Just think happy thoughts..'
My head whipped to the right, hearing loud pawsteps, and of course, a few branches breaking.
Four, enormous wolves, walked out of the forest, three of them followed the one in front, who was jet black.
He seemed like the alpha, and he was bigger than the other three.
My eyes narrowed, growling as I stood in front of Jacob, protecting the rookie.
I'm not letting them touch him.
"(N/n) (nickname) it's alright. They're here to help him."
I felt a hand touch my back, I was ready to bite that hand off when I turned my head, to see it was Jake.
"Can you stay there.... I'm naked..."
I groaned and facepawed.
'Seriously Jake?.....'
My gaze turned back to the other wolves who walked closer.
My blood boiled with rage, did I not warn them to stay back?
Jacob nudged me to move with him towards the ramp where Billy was.
I slowly moved myself towards the ramp as I didn't want to embarrass Jacob.
He was already going through enough.
The leader of the wolves turned towards the forest with the others following.
'Ha! He doesn't need those scumbags!'
While I was thinking to myself, Jacob made a run for it.
'Man that is one cute ass...I mean! Fuck.'
I decided to shift back as well, skipping inside.
"Uncle Billy!!!!!!!!!!!!! Feed me."
Billy was already inside, talking to Jacob before he turned to me, chuckling.
"There's some cooked fish on the counter that your father made."
"Yum! Fish!"
I quickly ran to the kitchen, ignoring the door opening.
A few minutes later, while I was stuffing my face with the fish, Uncle Billy was calling me to the living room.
"I'm busy eating! Leave me alone!"
(Y/n), it's just for like 5 minutes."
I whined like a spoiled brat, wanting to eat in peace.
"That's way to long!"
"(Y/n) I WILL THROW WATER ON YOU!"
I growled and stormed to the living room.
"What?!"
Sam, Paul, Jared, and Embry were all sitting on the couch, staring at me in shock.
"Oh....Heyyyyyyyyyyyy..."
I softly laughed in embarrassment and looked towards Uncle Billy.
He sighed softly.
"This is Sam and you already know the other three. They're shapeshifters. A bit-"
"Yeah, I know already. Geez. I was raised hearing the tribe stories."
Sam raised an eyebrow and turned to Uncle Billy.
"I have a few questions. How does she know about shapeshifters? Why isn't she freaking out? And where did that white tiger go?"
"I can answer those questions for you," I replied, smirking softly.
The whole time, Paul was just staring at me, it started to bug me actually.
"Also, can you stop staring at me? I know I'm hot and all but it's annoying," I snapped, glaring at him.
I wasn't forgiving Paul at all for ditching me when we were younger for cooler friends. He was an ass.
This seemed to have made him snap back into reality and he quickly turned away.
Jared and Embry began to cackle at him, for getting caught.
He growled at them, though the boys continued to laugh.
Eventually, Sam got tired of them and snapped at the boys.
"Shut up!"
I rolled my eyes before beginning to answer Sam's questions.
"To answer question 1,2 and 3 all in one go, is that I remember the tribe stories/ I'm a shapeshifter as well. Except, I can shapeshift into a tiger, which means, I wasn't surprised about Jacob shifting I was just hurt that no one told me they were true. I been shapeshifting into a tiger since I was three!"
I locked eyes with Jacob, feeling pity for him.
Sure being a shapeshifter is awesome and it's kinda the only thing I have of my parents, but I get angry easily and I usually have to run into the forest, heading to the ocean as I don't know if I'm gonna shape-shift into my tiger or phoenix.
Jacob will get angry easier, and well he will have to be careful on not shape-shifting in front of others. Humans will freak out.
Right when we locked eyes, I saw a future of him and I. We were both happy, Jacob was chasing after two twins that seemed to resemble us. And I seemed to look down, seeing my belly round, pregnant with his other pup.
I gasped and shook my head.
'What the hell was that?! It happened with Paul.
While I was in shock, Paul seemed to notice Jacob was staring at me for to long and growled angrily.
"She's mine."
I snapped my gaze to Paul and snarled at this idiot.
"I belong to no one!"
The emotions in his eyes flickered to sadness before snapping back to anger.
Jacob was just confused but got closer to me.
I felt something pulling me towards him as I hugged his frame.
He seemed to enjoy the hug as he returned it.
Paul began quaking with anger as he was pulled outside by the other three.
Jacob and I ignored this event, only seeing, feeling, and sensing each other.
'Who knew Jacob and I would end up together?'
Part two? Or maybe a whole book? 2737 words. Been working on this for a year.
