Selena, the moon goddess, had a hobby of disguising herself as a human every midnight until before the sun rises to test men on how they would treat a woman.

If they pass, she'd give them gifts beyond imaginable, however, if they fail, they'd be punished--one would never want to experience. Fortunately, all men Selena had tested passed.

Everything's fun and games until she met Gin: an ill-tempered and a hopeless romantic women hater.

"What can you get for testing men though?" Celeste, the goddess of the stars, asked as she watches her friend, Selena, stepping into the portal between the celestial and the human realm.

"I told you I wanted to find a human husband for myself just like your sister did," her lips pooched.

"Well, not everyone is as good as her husband, Ezekiel. You might just get yourself killed down there."

"I've been doing this for I think more than a hundred times and everyone passed, it's just that I haven't met the one yet. But I feel like tonight, I will. Wish me luck," Selena waved Celeste goodbye and rushed inside the portal before she could stop her.

Just as the usual, Selena found herself behind an oak tree beside the park to where men usually pass after work.

She looked at herself who is now disguised as a party girl--short skirt, sleeveless tops--who lost her way back home.

"Perfect," she whispered before stepping into the light, a split second before the time ticked 12 midnight.

She waited for a couple of minutes until she spotted a man whom she thinks is the perfect person for her test.

The man looks tired and incredibly grumpy, but that didn't stop Selena from approaching him.

"Hello," she started in a soft voice, but the man only looked at her blankly which took her slightly aback.

"U-Uhm, I lost my w-way home, so I-I was wondering if you could offer me a place to stay for at least the night?"

Selena watched the man's lips thin into a cruel line.

"Do you have any idea how tired I am from working eight hours straight and another two hours overtime, talking to customers who owe us large amount of money and even had the audacity to curse us?!" He blurted out of nowhere in an incredible speed.

"No, I supposed not!"

Selena's lips parted and stared at him aghast, unable to speak. 'Twas evidently the first time someone had spoken to her in an atrocious manner.

"I-I'm sorry?!" She stuttered, still in disbelief.

"Apology accepted, now let me excuse myself," the man took a step aside and walked pass her as though nothing had happened.

Perturbed of what she calls her "First Time", Selena was been left standing like a statue in the middle of the sidewalk.

When she finally snapped back to her senses, she turned to look at the man who's slowly getting devoured by the darkness.

Selena had been amused rather than infuriated when Celeste teased her because she was planning to tail the same man for the fourth time already.

"But you are supposed to punish men who fails, am I right or am I correct?"

"Actually both," Selena raised a forefinger up. "It's just that this man is different."

"Of course! He's the only man who ignored you for four times in a row, All High and Mighty, Selena," Celeste sounded obviously sarcastic, but instead of being wary, Selena grinned.

"He literally ignored me, Celeste."

"You just repeated what I said," exasperated sighs escaped Celeste's lips.

Selena stood up from a diamond chair beside Celeste's throne and walked back and forth.

"I think I found the right man," she added, covering her mouth in excitement which made her friend wince.

"Don't talk to me anymore," Celeste stood up from her throne and left without a word.

Excited of what will be the outcome for the night's approach, Selena dressed as a respectable office worker and waited for the man to step outside the building he's working at.

Her lips curved an incredibly wide smile as soon as she spotted him walking towards her direction as it's the only way for him to reach his house.

"What happened to you this time?" The man cocked a brow as soon as Selena approached him. "Don't tell me you'd apply for a job because we're not hiring."

"I don't need a job," she beamed. "I kinda just wanna be with you tonight. Perhaps, will you invite me to your home now?"

The man rolled his eyes skywards. "I've said this for a couple of times and I'm gonna say it again," he paused, eyes narrowing at her. "I. WILL. NOT."

He emphasized every word and Selena pooched her lips out.

"How about tomorrow night?"

"No."

"The night after tomorrow night?"

"No."

"The night after tomorrow night's tomorrow night?"

"That doesn't even make any sense," he snorted. "But no and no, now go away and leave me alone!"

"Playing hard-to-get doesn't work on me. Now how about your name then?" Selena grinned. "After always waiting for you outside for five consecutive nights, I believe I deserve to know that at least."

The man sighed.

"Gin," he whispered.

"Selene!" Selena gracefully introduced herself. "And I'll wait for you here tomorrow night."

"Whatever, woman," Gin chuckled, the very first time Selena has seen a different emotion of him.

"It's Selene," she corrected.

Just as said, Selena waited for Gin the next night and FORTUNATELY, he has finally given up and invited her into his home.

Selena found out that Gin is married--separated, as one might say.

His wife left him with another man after he and their son got into a car accident which had his business rolling downhill leaving him with a lot of debts as his son had been staying in the hospital for already nine months due to coma.

Gin, being a responsible father, worked high and low in order to afford his son's needs in the hospital all by himself, no one helped, and with that being said--he despised his wife for leaving them--all women in general; he never loved again.

Although what escapes Gin's lips are words full of hate, after nights of being with him, Selena has come to realize that he still longs for his wife, something even gods can do nothing about.

It has been the 22nd night since Selena and Gin met and now, he decided to let her accompany him to the hospital to where his son is being treated.

As Selena watch Gin taking good care of his son, she has grown to admire him even more. She's thankful that she met him and wanted to grow a family with him, but when she spied his wife, she found out that she also wants her family back, so she made a choice.

"You're going away?!" Gin's eyes grew in circles and Selena answered him with a smile.

She held her arms together behind her back and bent towards him, giving him a teasing look.

"Why? Isn't that what you wanted before?"

"T-That was before," he stuttered. "Where are you going then?"

"Far, far away. To where you'll never find me," she grinned, turned her back against him and continued walking towards his house.

"How long will you be gone?" He asked, following her.

"I don't know. Forever, I guess?"

"Is it because I'm always rude to you?"

Selena faced him while walking. "That's a factor," her lips twitched.

"C-Can I come and visit you?"

Selena stopped from walking as so does Gin.

"You don't have to," a pale smile crept into her lips. "If you feel like you miss me, just look at the moon. I'll be looking at it, too."

Gin chuckled. "That's so cheesy, I could actually smell it."

"It's okay, I know you like cheese."

"But seriously, why do you have to leave tonight? You could have told me the other nights then I should have taken a leave to spend time with you, Selene."

Selena couldn't hide the happiness in her face that she could feel it burning though she's well aware that the feelings Gin has for her is only platonic.

"You need to work full time for your son and besides, yesterday; I've been tossing and turning in excitement to finally give my reward to someone."

"Reward?" Gin echoed and Selena only smiled.

Just then, a phone call cut their conversation--a call from the hospital, telling Gin that his son has already woken up.

The two rushed to the hospital and due to mixed feelings, Gin has not noticed, Selena is no longer with him when he entered his son's room.

Selena, who is now in her goddess form whom can no longer be seen in the naked eye, stood beside Gin who's happily embracing his son until a woman stepped in.

"M-Mommy!"

Gin turned around and tears started creeping down his cheeks when he saw his wife.

Shin of tears misted Selena's eyes as she watch the first man she loved fall into his true love's arms once again.

"Are you okay?" Celeste, who just materialized from nowhere, asked.

"No," Selena chuckled. "It's hard to let go of the person you love and it's even harder when you realized it's the right thing to do."

Celeste's nose scrunched. "That's what you get for not listening to me."

Selena tittered. "At least I made them happy."

"Of course. Now, let's head home."

Selena nodded, looked at Gin for the last time, and left together with the wind.
