The Returns

He grimaced then smirked.

He silently shifted back into the terror I've been fighting for ages.

He waved his hand and there they were. Three magical cages in a bright neon green. My friends were capsuled in two, and... The mirror...

"Oh, I can tell reality from fake becuase I, have stayed in this lowly depth of a home for years! I rotted down here for the longest time!!!"

"Talk!" I demanded. My sword materializing.

"I will. Sis. Just give me your amulet and I'll set your friends and the mirror free for you. Ah, you loved betting and trickery as a sibling. Especially your hilarious jokes and pranks." He sighed. Obviously reminiscing. "Sadly, this is an important one you have to deal with wisely..."

I breathed in and exhaled out. Keeping the amulet out of sight. It wasn't as easy thing to do however. I don't know what Flaubert is fully capable of.

Don't do it Heather!!! This is terrible!!! Just leave!!! Don't be a hero with your life!!!

This voice was familiar. Not the evil one that tortures me with the weight of killing somebody. It was... Pitchy... Screeched... It was Pepper...

I took my amulet of my neck. My sword de-materialized in an instant.

Pepper, Sam and the mirror were released.

I slowly gave Flaubert the amulet and he smiled.

"Thank you dear sister..." He smiled maniacally.

I limped towards Sam and Pepper and picked up the mirror.

"Sam, let's go back..." I said.

He nodded and we were teleported back to Snoeshore.

"Why do these things always happen to me?..." I grumbled falling on their couch.

"Oh... It's just... Natural isn't it?..." Pepper said slowly going into the kitchen.

And then I laughed... I wouldn't stop. I went delirious. Probably

Sam looked at me like I was insane... Which I probably was...

"How are you laughing?!" Sam asked outraged. "I mean, geez kid! You just lost your only protection and you won't even allow me to protect you!!!"

Instant silence.

I turned my smile down to the minimum and walked over to Sam and put my hand on his shoulder... I mean, the understanding way.

"Heh, I didn't lose it." I smiled. I materialized my sword in my hand.

Sam looked like he was going to lose it. I pulled my real amulet right out of my neck under my shirt collar.

"It's right here..." I smiled smugly now.

"How?... What did you give him?!" He smiled.

"Oh... Ummm... I'm sorry Pep. I had to give him your communication amulet... Heh. Sorry."

She emerged from the kitchen wearing her apron and frowning. Her frown though, instantly turned into a smile. "It's ok! In fact, It's perfect!!!"

"You pranked the guy?!" He shouted laughing.

"Yep!"

I looked at the mirror I left on the couch. I instantly became silent. I levitated the mirror over to me.

"Would ya... Well... Uh... Well... Welp... I mean... *sigh* Like me to leave you alone Heat?..." Sam asked stuttering a little.

"I told you not to call-"

He hugged me. Tightly. "I just want you to be prepared for what you might see. Promise me you won't hit me... Please... Or... Kill yourself..."

I hugged him back a little. "You stupid idiot..." I tried to say through small teardrops.

"Yeah. You stubborn kid." He smiled.

I heard Pepper's fotsteps slowly fading which meant she left the room.

Sam was about to leave too but I grabbed him by the sleeve.

"Hey uhh... Would you... Well... Stay here with me? I don't know how things really work so... Yeah..."

"Heh. Sure. If you want me to." He said slightly turning into a slight blue shade.

I sat down on the couch and Sam Sat beside me. We had a few inches in between. I don't know about know, but we weren't cut out for those cuddling terms yet.

I placed the mirror down on the table in front of the couch. I stared at it for a minute.

"How do we even activate the thing?" Sam asked.

"Oh yeah." I levitated the book to me.

I flipped through the pages a bit. I finally found the mirror again in the book. It had a voice recognition setting in it.

"Sooo... Some fancy words..."

"Heh. Lazy ain't ya."

"Heck I know it." I sighed. "Welp..."

"You need this. Trust me... Kid, you'll need all the help you can get. And welp... This'll help ya." He said.

"Go on and call me Heather... Or... Heat... If you wanna." I said.

"Sure... Heat." He smiled.

"OK...

" If all else fails,
Then show us the past.
If all else is forgotten,
Make memories last.
If none shall return,
And all have soon left,
Then they'll be regained.
Faster than theft."

I felt dizzy a little but the gems on the mirror all glowed and showed a holographic screen of some sort. It was blank. It's bright neon blue blinding the room... Like a computer screen just turned larger.

"Show us... The time Sam first had Lacier cast the spell on me." I told the mirror.

The light left. Then it came back with a holographic image of Sam walking.

"It works..." I heard him whisper.

Sam entered the former hotel of Cyber. Geez, it's been a while since I've seen the place. The only thing I actually remember vividly was the time that became some horror hotel party.

Sam opened the door to this one room. One of the staff rooms. But it wasn't the usual lockers, desks and coffee maker kinda thing. No. Shelves brimming with potions, a table with some crystal ball and curtains draping in certain places, and the screen was tinted in a dark fuschia even with the light blue tinge there was still color.

When Sam instantly set foot into the room, a chair appeared. Lacier wasnt in her labcoat. It was something Pepper would wear and maybe not at the same time. Some very velvety fuschia kind of thing and her hair had some type of white shawl and some gem in the middle. The kind worn by fortune-tellers.

She smiled and giggled. "Did you finally decide to get with Flare?"

"*sigh* Your brother told me I'd meet you here. Welp, I need your assistance." He said.

"How close are you with my brother? Best buds?" She asked.

"Yeah. We'd hang out a lot especially as kids. When you know... He was around."

"*sigh* That kid was real cute. I loved calling him Flaurby." She giggled again and sat down on a chair in front of the crystal ball. "But, enough about the past. I only have two reasons why people visit me. One, for my advice on relations. And two, my spells on relations."

"That's really what I wanted to talk to you about." Sam told Lacier.

"Come, sit down and tell me who the lucky girl would be." She giggled once more. "A warning ol Sammy. These wear off depending on how the person acts."

Sam Sat down and looked at the crystal ball. "The names Heather. She's a human with Hearthian power."

"Just like Flaurby's adopted sister isn't it." She said slowly waving and hovering her hand over the crystal ball.

"Yep."

"Describe her or show me a pic." She said.

"Uhhh... Brown hair, pretty eyes, a joker, sweet, helpful, tomboy... Uhhh... She's got this sweet necklace... Or amulet?..." Sam said.

"Well... I can make do and try to track her. So let's see." Lacier said.

She mumbled something that sounded like static on the mirror. Then an image was slowly forming in the crystal ball.

It was me. Sleeping...

"When was this?..." I asked him feeling myself go scarlet a bit.

"This was... Around the first time we met... I liked you. It was a really... Weird thing to choose when we could have just been friends..." He said. "Welp. Welcome to the future."

I looked back at the mirror hologram. The crystal ball shone brightly and the mirror was enveloped in bright light. Then, the mirror deactivated and shut down again but the gems still glowed.

Time passed. We re-watched older memories until the most recent ones which were the ones at the lab...

That's when I finally knew how it all ended. The reason why he was so sweet, the reason he knew me, the reason and everything.

"So... It's over isnt it?..." I asked him. "No more adventures in that old ruin?"

"Yeah... I guess it is." He said. "But it isn't late to go on."

I smiled. I knew something was going to come up sooner or later. I guess I like it though. Adventures all this... Survival... I dunno... I just seem to have a thing for it.

"Hey Sam."

"Yeah. Heat?"

"You're getting the hang. Well... Thanks for... Everything even if it invovled a well... A love spell."

"Yeah. Sorry bout that." He smiled nervously. "Hope ya don't Heat up."

"Old pun. But Sam-ones getting the hang of it."

"But seriously. I'm definitely sorry about the love spell... Or charm... Or whatever. I just thought it was a great idea at the time..." He said. "You know... We were so alike. I just had this crush then it all turned into some relationship we immediately went headfirst into."

I pushed him a little. "Try arm first!"

He had a smug grin and pushed me off the couch with my left arm on top of the coffee table, right leg on his lap... Awkward position. He held on to my leg and I dragged him down by bending my leg towards myself. He landed on my back.

"You!" He said playfully and levitated me on the couch and teleported a pillow on me.

"You!!!" I said and threw the pillow at his face as soon as he stood up.

"Pillow fight rematch?" He asked holding out another one and teleporting a different pillow on my stomach.

"Just like the good old days." I smirked. "Game on..."

He hit me with a pillow and I hit him back.

He suddenly teleported. I looked around cautiously. My foot hit one of the coffee table's legs and I fell back on the couch. I clutched my foot and squeaked a little. It hurt a lot. It was always my legs and the feet that people aimed at me for.

I was suddenly in mid-air still clutching my foot. Sam reappeared from behind the couch his eyes glowing and his hand covered in a blue and slightly black glow.

"Looks like Sam-one caught a Heater... I caught you one step ahead of ya... Ya wanna leg go of ya leg?..." He asked teleporting right in front of me.

"Those were worse than usual and not accurate but yeah... You're a laugh." I said still upside down.

"I know."

"You're a stupid fool." I smirked.

"I know that." He grumbled still smiling.

"You're smol."

"Heck I know it."

"You're cute."

"Yep- wait... What...?" He said startled.

I rolled my eyes.

"You're easy to fool."

He smirked. "Ya sure?" He put me down and I picked my self up and stood normally.

"Yes I'm-"

He kissed me.

"You stupid-"

Again.

"Moron-"

And one last long one.

"I hate you." I grinned.

"I know." He said.

I hugged him again. He hugged me back.

"The whole time we were on that island... We didn't have that much fun... You acted like you hated me... I wanted to die but you kept me safe... I don't know why you were like that... So wishy-washy... You even let me help a little during your sandwich problem... I missed this... All this fun we had drained away when you technically lost your memory."

"You call kissing me fun? Yeah right." I said

"Its not fun." He held me by the chin. And levitated up a little to get a bit taller than me. "It's amazing knowing that you exist. I'm glad you're back.

I smirked and pulled his hand away. "I'm not any ordinary girl. I'm not Sam-one normal... I'm fired up and ready. And I understand this crush that turned into this now. Maybe I like it." I said.

He smiled. And pushed me back on the couch. I pulled him along with me and he landed on top of me and he looked startled his face was tinted in a light blue.

"You're cute like that." I smiled smugly.

He smiled smugly himself. "I hate you too kid."

I turned him around on the floor I was the one on top of him.

"Don't worry. I'm not killing you at all ." I said.

"You cute lil dork." He said.

"I can't harm you in this way anyway." I said.

"But I will..." He said. "I could slap you and levitate you. And blast you with Aurora's..."

"I could love you to death?..." I said.

"I hate you way to much."

"I know." I said. "You sweet idiot."
