I was happy when that interview was over and the review with police, and the briefing that Hearthian are officially considered one of us. And me? Protector Of Purity.

I was sitting down at the doorway and I watched the rain die down slowly. The tempo of the atmosphere drowned out the noise and helped me think. Like I said once, the rain is my sunshine.

I folded my wings out a little at the back. I didn't want them taking up space. Suddenly, I felt a hand touch my arm. I quickly looked up and saw Sam.

"Hey Princess Purity." He smirked and sat beside me.

"It's Protector." I rolled my eyes. "I don't like being a princess jerk."

"I know. I know. We should stop making fun of eah other." He laughed.

I pulled his hood over his head. "Sam Frost, Protector and Guardian of Fun." I laughed so hard.

"Who the heck is Sam Frost?"

"Jack Frost. You seem a bit like him... Minus the fact you're lazy as heck... Although... You've lessened the lazy act a little."

"It's all the moving around I do to save you..."

"Anyway, what job did you or Pepper get?..."

"Peppers a higher grade... Two grades..."

"You're that lazy?!" I asked him laughing so hard.

"Yeah yeah, I'm lazy k?... She got a student job... She's Cyber's assistant in her business... Cyber is really successful... I mean, she's got a hotel, a talk show, a few restaurants, and a fashion line."

"No wonder she hired Pep." I said leaning back a little.

"I know right?!" He laughed but not so loud. He seemed a little startled.

I placed a hand on his shoulder. "Sam?... Are you ok?..."

He jolted a little. "Yeah! I'm good! Don't worry bout me!" Then he laughed. Something was obviously bothering him. I bit my bottom lip. I didn't like seeign him like this.

"I'll be honest... You?... You're amazing, life was like a slow movie. Everything replayed breakfast, jobs, texts, the movies we watch?... Nothin exciting can really happen... Until..." He smiled and a small bottle of Mountain Dew appeared in his hand.

"Until what happened?..."

"Until you came along... You brought me fun, happiness, a friend, and now?" He laughed. "Life seems faster."

"It's always been slower to me when I was up here in this world... Now that Hearthian are one and Hearth has been destroyed in the battle... Well, Hearth seemed faster, the time that went by was faster than this world, but even then, there was a lot that made me feel like it all zoomed by in an instant."

He nodded. "Join the club Heat."

I laughed.

He drank from the bottle he was holding and immediately spit it out. "What is this?!"

I laughed even harder my sides hurt so much. "It's Mountain Dew!!!"

"It tastes like Pepper's truth juice!!! But it's really fizzy and tastes gross!"

I laughed even harder and I was in hysterics  recalling the memory. Until I remembered how it ended and began.

Then, I was silent and blank.

"I'm always telling you what I feel don't I?... In a different way, not a way a bestie would." I said.

"I know. So do I Heat."

I just stood up and walked towards the rain. Is as getting soaked again. I didn't care. There were only drops coming down and weak splashes. I stared up. It was dark and gloomy with small patches of sunlight shining through.

Sam teleported beside me, that's when I noticed something.

"You're taller than me now?!" I looked at him. He wasn't a few inches shorter, he was a few inches taller.

"I'm not slouching for one." He smirked. He pulled his hood on.

I covered his head with my wing and he covered both of us with an invisible wall. We laughed a little. There was barely anyone outside and it was getting darker.

I pulled him close with my wing and be held my chin.

"Sam!" I said pulling it off. He chuckled.

"You cutie."

"I'm not cute." I said teasingly but still annoyed.

"Come on Heat." He said. "You're a sweetheart when ya wanna be. Stake my heart?... Ya gonna be a heartbreaker?... Ya tugging at my heartstrings?..."

I pulled him by the collar and kissed him on the lips shortly.

"I love you, you playful lil jokester." I smirked letting go of his collar.

"I love ya too, demon eyes." He smirked too.

"Sam Frost."

"Blood lover."

"I am not!" I pushed him a little.

"I don't freeze." He said.

"Trying to be cool eh? Chillax a bit. It's Ice knowing that you like puns like me. This ain't snow joke. Freeze stop calling me names." I said playfully.

"You pun-loving dork."

"I told you, stop calling me names!" I exclaimed happily.

He carried me high surprisingly. I was still laughing until I noticed that... "You're that strong?..." I asked him suddenly.

"Hehe... I never showed you. I was always stronger than people think I am. Even Pepper. But when she's mad, she's deadly." He laughed loudly.

I smiled widely and he brought me close and rubbed his nose against mine.

"You're so sweet for some strange reason."

"Wanna know another reason why I like you more than Flare?..."

"What?!" I asked suddenly all serious.

"She can't get wet and she can't rub my nose since she's made of fire."

Do you know what I actually did to him? What I did was levitate some rain into his face and I wet him. Do you know what he even did to me? He removed some part of the invisible wall and all of that rain that was on top of it splashed on me and I got wet as heck. And do you know what happened after that? We both got wet as heck. You wanna know what? We both just continued splashing each other and got wet as heck.

And what happened next?

Pepper yelled at us both.

"I don't know why you two always get into some sort of trouble!!!" She snapped her fingers and we were instantly dry and I stretched my wings again.

"Do you really have to stretch your wings all the time?" She asked annoyed.

"I'm not used to em yet." I said stretching my arms up.

"As for you!" She pointed at Sam. "Just because the human world gave us some enhancements like height and strength doesn't mean you're immune to everyone and anything. Like rain!"

"Geez! You're not my mom!" Sam said but he suddenly shut up.

Pepper suddenly started crying. "If I'm not, then who is?! If I was never there to protect you or care for you, YOU'D BE DEAD!!! YOURE TOO LAZY TO DO ANYHING AND YOU ONLY CARE ABOUT YOUR YELLOW FOODS AND HER!!!"

Everyone was silent suddenly. Me, Pepper, They both regretted what they said. I just stared at them and shut up.

"Look... You two... Please calm down, I don't like seeing you fight."

"I know that you're the Protector and all but that's purity. Not harmony!" Pepper spat while crying.

I took Peps hand. "Please. I don't like watching you act like this... Didn't you even ever act the exat same way me and Sam did when you were with Lace?..."

Pepper gritted her teeth. "He was more considerate! Protective! You two are just so clumsy and advenrerous and love risk-taking!!! You don't care about safety!!!... especially you Heat! You're the adventurous one!!! You get hurt more often."

I sighed. "Of course I care about safety... Why do you think I tried to save you?..." I asked calmly but not too coldly.

She shut up and rubbed her eyes with her hand. "I... I... Never thought of... That..." She admitted sheepishly.

I smiled. "Come on. Sam? Help me sort her out a little eh old pal?"

He nodded and smiled. I sat her down on a chair and got her some water. The water disappeared and became a yellowish liquid. But Pepper already took the glass from me.

"Wait Pep that's not water thats-"

She spat it out and screamed. "Truth-juice???!!!"

Sam was in the background laughing so hard. "It's Mountain Dew sis!"

"Sam!!!" I wanted to laugh but I was somehow furious.

"Your faces!!!" He laughed even harder.

Pepper just threw the plastic cup on the floor. It made a loud noise and spilled. Her fist was clenched and her teeth were gritted.

"I'm sorry!" He said suddenly not laughing. "I tried to get things back to normal!"

"It ist normal..." I told him.

Pepper wasn't talking and didn't seem to want to talk to anyone. Just then, Lacer and Lacier were walking by not in labcoats for once but in casual clothes like normal people.

I quickly ran up to Lacer to try to get him to cheer up Pepper.

He nodded.

He walked over to her and smiled and held her hand. Pepper instantly broke into a scarlet red blush.

I smiled leaning on a wall. Sam teleported beside me.

"Nice goig Heat."

"I know." I whispered back. We gave each other the small and short high-five.

Pepper was smiling again it was a big smile.

"Whaddya say, we go check out Flares new càfe up here?..."

"You love her food doncha?..."

"Hey! I've loved her food. But I love you more than that." He flirted.

"Stop it ya idiot!!!" I smiled.

"Here we go again."

"Why don't we make it even more fun. I know where she works." I said.

"How do we make it more fun?" He asked curious.

"Follow me."

I ran out the building. He teleported beside me. "Ready to see my worst idea yet?!"

"Yep." He smiled and sighed.

I grabbed him by his hand and threw him high hearing his shouts.

I quickly flew back up and caught him and placed him on my back. He was panting and breathing heavily.

"Don't. Scare... Me like that... Please?..." He asked tightly holding on to me.

"I told you. Watch." We weren't above the cloud layer yet so we were still getting wet.

I flew above the clouds where all was clear and the clouds looked so soft like you could sleep in them. I know Lacer would tell me they're made of water but eh. Who cares right?...

I looked up at Sam who was still holding on to me but smiling. I seemed to have gotten the hang of flying with these things.

I pulled my phone out of my pocket in my pants. The pocket had a zipper so I wasn't sure I'd lose it easily. I checked the map. It appeared we had to go below the cloud layer.

"Ready to get wet?..." I asked him.

"Wet back atcha." He made a wall above us again.

I flew down swiftly then slowed down a little. I checked the map again. Right... There...

I saw the shiny neon sign. Flare works for Cyber now. Shes the manager and organizing of her food company.

I flew down. The place was almost exactly how it used to be. With a little modern razzle dazzle. Like a gaming arcade and a mini dance floor.

"Looks like those two teaming up seemed to be a good idea." I said.

He nodded and picked out a table and teleported the menu in advance and pulled his hood over his head.

Flare seemed distracted. She had more waiters accompanying her this time so it wasn't a slow service.

I ordered pasta and orange juice while Sam got a burger and... Yep, a mango shake.

I showed him something while we were eating.

"I thought it got ripped during the temple fall." Sam said pouring mustard and ketchup into his burger.

"I know. Flaubert kept the joke book with him strangely." I shrugged.

We were outside again and the rain already stopped. I was about to spread my wings when Sam opened the joke book and asked me something.

"What did the prune tell his girlfriend who was a date?"

"Well... I dunno... What?"

"Would you date me?"
