The Shining Beacon Part 2
(Y/N) POV
Me, Ruby and Jaune FINALLY managed to find the auditorium, filled to the brim with people. Ruby looks over when she hears Blondey's voice.
Blonde: Ruby! Over here! I saved you a spot!
Ruby: Oh! Hey, I-I gotta go! I'll see you after the ceremony!
Jaune: Hey, wait! Oh well, at least I have you to talk to (Y/N).
(Y/N): Nope!
I teleport away and I teleport next to a random student. She seems to have 5 magenta spider like-eyes, a purple shirt, pink vest and red bows on her black pigtails, she also has spider legs. She looks similar to an arachnid I once knew...Wait...
(Y/N): Greetings.
???: AAH! Jeez don't startle me like that!
(Y/N): My apologies. Say, are you perhaps an Arachnid?
Isabelle: Yes actually. Name's Isabelle. What's yours?
(Y/N): Isabelle? Isabelle Arachne?
Isabelle: Um, yes? How did you know?
(Y/N): It's me (Y/N)!
Her eyes widen as she wraps me in a hug. She then releases
Isabelle: Oh my Oum (Y/N) it's been so long! Where have you been bestie?!?
(Y/N): Trying to eradicate the White Fang.
Isabelle: Tough mission but I'm sure you can take it! I mean come on! You're the One Winged Angel!
(Y/N): Ah yes, you're the one that came up with that nickname.
Isabelle: I mean, it sounds badass! Or would you rather have the One Winged Edgelord?
(Y/N): Let's stick with Angel shall we?
A loud ring of a microphone gathers all our attention to the podium.
Ozpin: I'll... keep this brief. You have traveled here today in search of knowledge, to hone your craft and acquire new skills, and when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose, direction. You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step.
Ozpin leaves and Glynda stands in front of the microphone.
Glynda: You will gather in the ballroom tonight; tomorrow, your initiation begins. Be ready. You are dismissed.
*****THROUGH THE POWERS OF WRITING, WE SKIP TO NIGHT*****
The first night at Beacon, students are splayed out in sleeping bags. Me? I'm just reading a book called "The Hunchback of Atlas" Ruby is in her pajamas and with a sleeping mask around her head, is writing in a journal when her sister crashes next to her, similarly dressed.
Blonde: It's like a big slumber party!
Ruby: I don't think Dad would approve of all the boys, though.
Blonde: I know I do!
She makes an arroused growl making me roll my eyes.
(Y/N): My assumption about her was right.
Blonde: What's that?
Ruby: A letter to the gang back at Signal. I promised to tell them all about Beacon and how things are going.
Blonde: Aw, that's so cuuuute!
Ruby throws a pillow straight at Blondey's face.
Ruby: Shut up! I didn't get to take my friends with me to school! It's weird not knowing anyone here!
Blonde: What about Jaune? He's... nice! There you go! Plus one friend! That's a hundred percent increase!
Ruby: Pretty sure Weiss counts as a negative friend. Down to one.
Blonde: Down to one?
Ruby: I also met a guy named (Y/N), Yang. He has a really cool weapon and outfit, he saved me from that white haired girl earlier-
Atleast I know Blondey's name now.
Yang: Sounds like you're in love.
Ruby: No! I don't know. Maybe?
Yang: What?
Ruby: Nothing!
Yang: Anyhoo, There's no such things as negative friends! You just made two friends and one enemy!
She gets hit by another pillow.
Yang: Look, it's only been one day. Trust me; you've got friends all around you! You just haven't met them yet!
I hear a matchstick being lit, I look in that direction and see Blake reading a book.
(Y/N): Might as well get to know her.
I stand up and put the bookmark in my book (where else? In your mouth?) and walk towards her, book under my arm.
(Y/N): Greetings.
Blake: Oh. Hey (Y/N).
I look down at the book she's reading.
(Y/N): Man with Two Souls. You have a good taste in books my cat friend.
Blake: H-H-How do you know I'm a faunus?
(Y/N): I mean, why else would you wear a bow that big on your head unless you're trying to hide something.
Blake: Good point. What book are you reading?
I hand her the book.
Blake: Hunchback of Atlas, that's a good one. Do you also like reading?
(Y/N): Yes I do, when I am not busy eradicating the White Fang and trying to kill Adam Taurus, I sit down back home with a glass/cup of (F/D) (favorite drink) and a book.
She seems to flinch a bit when I talked about the White Fang and Adam. I have to keep that in mind. She hands me the book back.
(Y/N): Anyways, it looks like you wanna be alone, so I'll see you later.
Blake: See you late-
Blake looks over her book to see Ruby unsuccessfully struggling against Yang's grip as she leads her sister over to Blake's spot before letting go.
Yang: Hel-looooo! I believe you two may know each other?
Blake: Aren't you... that girl that (Y/N) was with?
Ruby: Uh, yeah! My name's Ruby! But you can just call me Red...Actually, you can just call me Ruby.
Blake: Okay.
Yang pulls her sister towards her and they start whispering.
Yang: What are you doing?
Ruby: I don't know - help me!
Yang: So... What's your name?
She sighs.
Blake: Blake.
Yang: Well, Blake, I'm Yang, Ruby's older sister! I like your bow!
Blake: Thanks!
She sounds very irritated.
Yang: It goes great with your... pajamas!
Blake: Right...
(Y/N): Real smooth Yang.
Yang: Nice night, don't you think?
Blake: Yes - it's lovely! Almost as lovely as this book! That I will continue to read. As soon as you leave!
Yang: Yeah, this girl's a lost cause.
Ruby: What's it about?
Blake: Huh?
Ruby: Your book. Does it have a name?
Blake: Well... i-it's about a man with two souls, each fighting for control over his body.
Yang: Oh, yeah... That's real lovely!
Ruby: I love books. Yang used to read to me every night before bed. Stories of heroes and monsters... They're one of the reasons I want to be a Huntress!
Blake: And why is that? Hoping you'll live happily ever after?
Ruby: Well, I'm hoping we all will. As a girl, I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books... Someone who fought for what was right, and protected people who couldn't protect themselves!
Blake: That's... very ambitious for a child.
(Y/N): Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale. I can know that.
Ruby: Well, that's why we're here! To make it better.
Yang: Oh, I am so proud of my baby sister!
She hugs her as Ruby tries to break free.
Ruby: Cut it out!
Blake: Well, Ruby, Yang, it's a pleasure to ha-
Weiss: What in the world is going on over here?! Don't you realize some of us are trying to sleep?
She then sees me.
Weiss: Oh, not you again!
Ruby: Shh! Guys, she's right! People are trying to sleep!
Weiss: Oh, now you're on my side!
Ruby: I was always on your side!
Yang: Yeah, what's your problem with my sister? She's only trying to be nice!
Weiss: She's a hazard to my health!
Blake, who rolls her eyes at the fight, simply closes her book, reaches over to grab her candle, and blows it out, enveloping the room in darkness (then redness then whiteness?) I walk over to my sleeping bag and lay in it. I put my book back in my bag. I look up and see a sleeping Isabelle above me on a spider web, cuddling a spider plushie. The sight is adorable. I go back to sleep so that I can wake up early for initiation tomorrow and because I'll need tons of time in the showers tomorrow.
