"i'm going to australia."
taehyung had told jeongguk those exact words a month ago. it also took him a month to come to this decision after his mom left. it was a sudden, and jeongguk wondered if he did anything wrong during the time they had spent together. he did his best in trying to persuade taehyung to go for the first couple days after his mother left, but he was stubborn on staying. one day, after a nice date, taehyung had dropped the news. jeongguk being jeongguk of course supported the boy's decision and cheered him on. there wasn't a lot special kisses shared after that. the last amount of contact he had gotten from the older was a tight hug and a quick peck before he had flown miles and miles away from him. this left jeongguk even more devastated.
he once had a thought— more of a wish. a wish that he'd never met taehyung. he wouldn't be going through such heartache if he hadn't met the boy in the first place. truly, if jeongguk were to think about it, there was no reason for him to be so upset. they'd been together for only two months now, their relationship ended as soon as it started, twice, and it wasn't like taehyung was so upset. yes, he did receive the occasional "hey, how are you" text, but to jeongguk for some reason they always seemed planned, or even forced. as if he had a reminder set to text him. a reminder for him to not forget about the younger while he had a blast in australia. well, that's what jeongguk thought of the situation at least. every single time they texted, after jeongguk texted bye, his fingers would always type in "i miss you" and hover over the send button. he never really managed to send it, afraid the older wouldn't feel the same. every single conversation would be the same as they pretended everything was alright, well, except for this one.

i miss you :(
it was a text jeongguk wasn't quite expecting. it would've just ended off with them saying "ttyl" and both of them would do their own thing. he didn't want to make the other wait to long and regret his choice of words, so he quickly replied.
i miss you too
really? how much do you
miss me?
on a scale of 1 to 10, i'd say a good 11
how much to do you miss me?

the boy sighed, tossing his phone to his side on the bed. jeongguk brought both of his hands to the back of his head and stared at the empty ceiling. jeongguk didn't know quite how to feel about the whole situation. he should be happy taehyung will be returning, but he also feels as if he should feel bad for his family. they must've been so very ecstatic to finally have their son back, and now for him to leave must be the most hardest thing in the world.
he can't help but empathize for taehyung's mom the most. she proved to jeongguk once again that she wants to be a good mother to him, letting him do what he wishes if it means he will be happy. although jeongguk might not agree with taehyung, moving to a completely new country must be a very difficult transition.
he huffed out a loud sigh again, turning his gaze to his bedside table. a neatly wrapped gift box laid still. the box held a beautiful watch, quite expensive too. after jeongguk set up the website for commissions, business had boomed. many people from the auction had contacted him either via email or even coming to the shop itself. he had been able to save enough for both the renovation of the shop and a nice gift for taehyung.
sleep soon took over, letting jeongguk have a peaceful dream. one that included two princes, who went against the odds to have a happily ever after. that dream lasted until both princes were together, but to jeongguk it ended too soon ended when his phone began ringing.
jeongguk rubbed his eyes and grabbed the phone with his other hand.
"hello?" he spoke in a groggy voice.
"rise and shine, babe! you should start getting ready if you wanna pick me up. also sent you the details on where to get me."
"i said i'm not picking you up, bye."
"bu—" before taehyung could finish his sentence, jeongguk disconnected their call. he squinted as he looked at the time on his phone. "it's nine already?" he mumbled to himself. "well, better get ready."
the boy rolled out of bed, dragging himself to the bathroom to clean himself up. he hasn't seen taehyung in a month and he wants to look as good as ever. after he took a shower, brushed his teeth, and put on a nice outfit. he grabbed his phone again and dialed jimin's number.
"hullo?" the boy answered, sounding as happy as ever. it seemed that he didn't look at the caller id.
"it's me, jeongguk."
"oh! g'morning, gukkie!"
"good morning, hyung. can you do me a favour?"
"anything, just ask."
"can you maybe give me a ride to the airport? please and thank you."
"airport?" there was a pause before jimin caught on. "is taehyung returning?" he yelled.
"please don't scream through the phone, hyung, and yes, he is."
"i'll be there in ten minutes."
alright, now all jeongguk had to do was eat a quick breakfast before jimin arrived. he decided to just go with the leftover sushi from the other night. jeongguk hadn't gotten used to taehyung's apartment all too well and didn't want to burn the place down while he was gone, so he didn't bother using the stove and ordered take out. oh yeah, taehyung and jeongguk are roommates after the older heard of the boys light claustrophobia. taehyung emptied out his spear storage room and there was enough space for a bed and closet. it also put jeongguk's dad at ease to finally find out why the boy was so giddy all the time, and was more than supportive with the relationship. after taehyung had left for australia is when jeongguk began questioning their relationship, but now he's gotten a clear answer.
a couple minutes after jeongguk finished his small breakfast, loud knocks were heard. the boy quickly put on his coat and opened the door. jimin began dragging him to his car saying there wasn't much time left, even though he didn't know when taehyung's flight would arrive. jeongguk just smiled and shook his head as he followed the shorter boy.
"aren't you excited?" jimin questioned during there ride.
"why?"
the older rolled his eyes. "to see, tae, duh. it's been, like, a month."
"yeah, i guess so."
jimin shook his head and began fiddling with the radio station while still paying attention to the road. jeongguk on the other hand, could barely sit in his seat trying to hide his joy, although jimin wasn't able to see it. he gets to see his taehyung again since what seemed like forever. there are some times where jeongguk thought they were moving too fast, but he'd remember taehyung always telling him during those times, "maybe we're just soulmates and we're meant to be. the universe planned for all this to happen."
jeongguk smiled looking through the window, staring at the snowflakes that danced by. jeongguk was always fascinated by them. each and every one of them were different and unique, no two alike. they were like humans almost. whenever a snowflake lands on jeongguk, he thinks, "out of all the snowflakes that could've fell on me, this one did. huh, what are the chances?." this supported taehyung's strong belief in the theory of everything happening for a reason. he mumbled so he would be the only one to hear, "yeah, maybe we are soulmates."
