Chapter 33. Coming back
'Can we talk?'
'Nope.' I passed Sunstreaker. 'We have to talk,' he said and followed me. Although, it was more limping. 'Why?' I asked without stopping. 'Because, you are about to leave and I don't want you to leave,' he said. 'Yeah, well... perhaps you should've thought about that before you decided to shoot me,' I snapped. 'I know I made a mistake. I don't want to see you die, that's why I did it.' I turned around. 'It's not good enough for me so... try again.' Sunstreaker sucked in a breath. 'I don't have a better reason. I just got attached to you and I don't like this entire thing. You working for N.E.S.T, going on missions, hanging out with that human male. I don't like it, not even a single bit. Look, shooting you was wrong.' He trailed off and grasped my upper arms softly. 'I would like to make it up to you. Perhaps we can work things out.'
'We have been there before. You say you would train but you don't. You made me happy with a dead sparrow. You hurt me over and over again. I don't see why you would change now.' I was much calmer than before. My anger faded and was replaced for sadness. 'We never had a choice but you do. You can do everything you'd like but not this. Listen to me, you don't know what it's like to be in the middle of a battlefield. I am protecting you, you don't want to be there. You're gonna get hurt, there are plenty of things you can do around here. I have enough experience, I've been through a lot. I've seen a lot and you have a choice. Don't do this, please.' I sighed. 'I didn't want to make you excited. That's why I refused to train you.' I pushed him aside and walked off.

'I told you she wouldn't listen.'
My brother approached. 'She's mad. She'll come around.' He shrugged and leaned on my shoulder. 'Let her experience what it's like. Perhaps she'll change her mind.' I sighed. 'Come on.' Sideswipe gestured to me to follow him. I laid in bed, made myself comfortable and shut my eyes. 'You're going to sleep?' I hummed. Sideswipe sat in the edge. 'It's unlike you to sleep in the middle of the day,' he said. 'Yeah, but I have barely slept. I can't sleep without you,' he muttered. Sideswipe snorted and sat beside me and pulled me closer. I rested my head on his chest and arm around his waist. His sparkbeat was so steady and calming.
I sneaked my hand under his shirt, warming up my stone cold hands on his stomach. Sideswipe whimpered and shivered. 'You know how much I hate that,' he scowled. A smirk pulled up on my lips. He snorted and hugged me tightly. 'It was supposed to be comfortable but you squeeze the hell out of me,' I sulked. He chuckled and let go of me. 'Go to sleep sunshine. You might be a bit more friendly when you wake up,' he cooed. I snorted and made myself comfortable once again. With the sound of my brothers breathing and heartbeat, I fell asleep.
I woke up a few hours later. Sideswipe had fallen asleep next to me as well. I nuzzled in his warm neck. He uttered a low growl. 'Look who's cranky now, huh?' I whispered and kissed his cheek. The mech glanced at me with half open eyes. 'You ruined my dream,' he sulked. He laid down and turned his back towards me. 'Sure I did.' He didn't reply, obvious back asleep. I took my pain medication before leaving. I learned Amethyst had left for a mission. I was pissed off about it, but I couldn't do anything. Perhaps my brother was right. Maybe I should let it go and let her experience it herself. If she doesn't want to listen, why would I waste my time trying?
((Amethyst P.O.V))
I got back at the base next following day. We had a our first mission. It wasn't a 'battlefield' but just a scouting mission. Ravage got me. He had left his claw marks on my back. The pain was bad and the attack made me realize that I am still not fully healed. My ribs hurt. Everything hurt actually. Beside all of that, I was exhausted. I don't have the same energy level as my team mates who didn't seem tired at all. I hated it. I wanted to keep up with them but I was so tired. I can sleep al day. If it wart for the pain, I wouldn't even go to the medbay but straight to bed.
I missed the twins. I wish they were more supportive. I strolled towards the medbay where Ratchet was waiting. 'That's a nasty wound, sit down.' He forced me to sit down and helped me remove my uniform. 'Is it bad?' I asked. 'It's deep but nothing I can't fix. Although, I suggest you take a few days off so you can recover because your body is not fully healed yet but you already noticed that. You're doing this against my advice,' he said.
'I can handle it,' I stated. 'Sure you can. Maybe you should listen to the twins a little bit more,' he said. 'Please don't start this argument too. I made my decision and they can't cope with that,' I stated. 'Because they know the drill. They know how hard it is fight battles and move on. You will get hurt, you're going to see horrible things. This job is not something we chose for. The twins want to give you a better future,' he said. I didn't reply and fiddled with my hands. 'I just wanna be like them...' I muttered. 'You're never going to be just like them. If you look up to them, that's fine but don't try to He like them. They've had years of training and pain to get where they are.'
'Sunstreaker shot me! He lied to me...' I waved my hand. 'I don't approve that. I know he's trying to make a point but never should've done that. You need rest, your body needs time to recover from this. Don't go on more missions until I cleared you and please, talk to the twins.' He stepped back,— removing the blue gloves. I slowly got up, grabbing my shoes and pants.
The twins weren't in the hanger or training hall. I doubted they had left, so, I assumed they didn't want to talk to me or see me. I sucked in a breath. This sucks.
I slowly strolled back to my room, refreshed myself and sat down on my bed. Maybe they were right, maybe not but I refuse to give up this easily. It's only been one mission. I heard a knock on the door before Sideswipe walked in a few seconds later. 'You're back, huh? How did it go?' He asked,— crossing his arms over his muscular chest. 'It went great. No complications...' I replied with the most positive voice I could manage to use. 'Right... no complications, huh? So the fact Ravage injured you was just something minor?'
'Its only a scratch. If it would be serious, I would be in the medbay,' I muttered and got up. 'You shouldn't try to be the hero. It will get you killed.' I shot him a glare. 'I wasn't trying to be the hero, Sideswipe!' I snapped. 'I was trying to complete the mission.' He snorted. 'Yeah, right... let me get this straight. You were send for a 'scouting' mission. The easiest missions there are, you never truly experienced a battlefield, got hurt, lied about it and you think you will make it one minute on an actual battlefield? You will flee with a tail between your legs. You will be terrified. There's no time to think, because if you do, you will die. If you make a wrong move, you die, if you get distracted you die, if you don't follow the plan, you will die!'
He approached. 'You are going to die! If you got hurt on the minor mission, I don't see you succeed on an actual battlefield!' He jabbed his index finger in the center of my chest. 'Think about that, next time you decide to leave. You think that because you've had little training, you know everything, but you don't. I am an ex-gladiator, I lived on the streets... I've fought hundreds of battles. I am born with battle instincts, you simply, did not.' I shove his hand away. 'Then teach me! Teach me how to be like you.'
'You can't be like me because you're too weak!'
A silence fell. 'It's because I am a girl, isn't it?' I snapped. 'Then I would be judging Chromia, Arcee, Elita-1 and Moonracer as well. They're actually strong femmes I can rely on in battle. You're too fragile. Do yourself and us a favor and stop this nonsense. Otherwise I can put you six feet under!' Another silence fell. 'You are unbelievable irresponsible and foolish. I hope you learned from this mistake.' He turned around and left me.
