Chapter 30. Home sweet home

I sat on Jazz, his hood, listening to some music while chatting. 'The twins are coming back, huh?' he asked. I sighed and nodded, 'I hope they won't be too mad... Do you think they will be mad?' I asked. 'Most likely, they're pissed off for being thrown onto the streets. They probably blame you for that,' he added. I sighed softly and looked up. I slid off Jazzs' hood. The twins looked absolutely horrible. Despite being dirty, they also looked pretty starved, tired, cold and beaten up like they had been in a serious fight. 'Damn...' Jazz snickered. I wasn't so amused and neither were they. I walked up to them, 'you're okay?' I asked quietly. Sunstreaker slammed me against the wall. 'You have signed your death wish,' he whispered near my ear before dropping me. 'I didn't suggest it... it's not my fault,' I said. Sideswipe glared at me, 'that's true... we made the mistake to look after you. We stop looking after you, we are done with you... we don't ever want to see you again,' he snapped. I hoisted myself up. 'but–' Sideswipe raised his hand to silence me and walked off.

I sadly watched them walk off. 'I screwed up...' I muttered to myself. I looked up to them and it really saddened me. I wanted to train with them and be just like them but  they hated me and didn't want to see me anymore. Later that day, I tried to approach them, but they completely ignored me. 'Twins...' I blocked their way but they pushed me aside. 'Guys, please... I know you are angry but...' I began but they didn't want to listen. 'It's not my fault...' I whispered. I sat down with them, 'it's not my fault... It wasn't my idea. I swear––' Sideswipe cut me off. 'we don't wanna hear it... piss off and go bother someone else,' he snapped. 'I know you two are mad but... Can't we talk about it?' I asked. 'No!' they said in sync. 'You are best buddies with Prime so why don't you go and see him instead?" Sunstreaker snarled. I saw Sophie walking in so I got up. 'At first I felt bad for you two... but not anymore. You're right... I don't need you two and there are better mechs... trusting you two was a mistake and I wish we never met.' With that open in the air, I waked off and pushed Sophie onto the ground with so much force she bruised her arm as she fell. 'Stupid bitch!' I shouted before storming off.

'Hey! Amethyst!' I stopped and turned to face Ratchet as he had followed me through the corridor. 'What's the matter with you?' he asked. 'Nothing, just leave me alone,' I snapped and turned around to walk off but he grabbed my arm and yanked me back. 'No, talk to me. I don't recognize you anymore,' he said. 'I am just mad and frustrated... that's all,' I snapped, pulling my arm back. 'It sucks... everything sucks,' I snapped and pushed him out of the way. I calmed myself down and decided to give them the same cold shoulder as they were giving me and forget about them. There isn't much I can change about the situation, they made their choice. They don't care, apparently they never did.

After two week, we had a fun activity we had to do as part of our training. We had to work with the Autobot. Each one of them was given an Autobot and we had to work with them for a day. It was more as a game and I guess the Autobot secretly liked it too. It's a challenge among them as well. The first one who finds the hidden flag, wins and gets a day off. So they were extra motivated. Mirage however wasn't allowed to be part of it, he cheats. As much as he hated that he couldn't join, he wasn't going to make a problem out of it. I secretly hoped to be partnered up with Jazz. We were joking about it the other day and we were really determined to win. Epps walked up to me, 'you're assigned with Sideswipe...' he said. My face dropped and I followed him, 'can I switch? I don't know if you have noticed but... we don't talk anymore,' I said. Epps halted and turned. 'I am sorry kid... I didn't make the schedule,' he said. 'Then who did?' I asked. 'Optimus did... you should hurry, some are already on the verge of leaving,' he said. This is great...

I haven't seen him for weeks and ignored him. I watched Jazz for a moment and sighed. I don't want to do this with Sideswipe. I am not gonna do this with him. I guess I will stay at the base then. Thyst!' I ignored Sideswipe's call and walked in the opposite direction. He blocked my way. 'Are you coming?' I didn't reply and turned my head away. 'We need to work together and I really want to win,' he said. 'Screw you!' I hissed and pushed him out of the way. He grabbed my arm and pinned me to the wall. 'We have to work together, Optimus orders,' he said. 'Not with you,' I snapped. 'You have no choice,' he said. 'Come on... please.' I snorted and turned my head away. 'I don't want to do this with you. I don't want to talk to you anymore,' I snapped. 'You have too.' I tried to get away but he pinned me back against the wall. 'It's just for a couple of hours,' he said. 'You never wanted to help me train so why would I now team up with you? Give me one good reason?' I snapped. 'Because it's me...'

'I want to work with Jazz and not with you.' He sighed and looked at the mech below. 'Well, you can ask your teammate to switch,' he said. 'He would do me a huge favor,' I snapped and headed downstairs. 'Ey, Benj?' the soldier turned. 'Can we switch?' I asked. He grinned, 'teamed up with the only you hoped you wouldn't get?' he asked. 'Honestly, there are two mechs I don't want to have but yeah, mind helping Sideswipe?' I asked. Benjamin opened his mouth but someone else was faster. 'I am sure you will do great with Sideswipe.' I glanced at Ironhide. 'I am not going to work with him,' I stated and crossed his arms. 'We are not going to switch... you work with Sideswipe or stay here at the base,' he said. 'Then I stay here,' I sulked and turned around. Ironhide followed, 'Amethyst, hold on a second.' He blocked my way. 'Come on... it's just for a few hours,' he said. "I don't talk to him anymore and refuse to work with him,' I stated. He sighed, 'You are ignoring him for weeks... both honestly,' he said. 'They said they didn't want to talk to me anymore and I don't want to talk to them anymore.'

He shook his head. 'Come on, give him a chance. He's willing to work with you too,' he stated. I glanced at the corvette for a moment. 'go on.' I rolled my eyes. 'Fine,' I snapped and marched over to his alt-mode. 'I don't want to work with you... I hate you, I disrespect you and I certainly don't want to spend even a minute with you but I have too,' I snapped. Sideswipe gave a small nod. 'I just want to get over this as quickly as possible so I can get far away from you and don't have to look at your face for one more minute,' I snapped. He opened his door for me and I hopped in, I didn't have fun at all like I had hoped for. I really looked forward to it, but now that I have him, my mood changed within seconds. We said nothing and there isn't much to say anyway. 'Take a left turn,' I grumbled without glancing at his holoform. 'I don't like how it went between us,' he said after some time.  'You never intended to train me,' I sulked. 'You are the one who ruined everything with your delusional dreams.' I snapped my head towards him before pulling on the handbrake. His alt-mode jerked and came to a stop. 'Hey!' he shouted. 'You wanted me to come with you so you deal with the damn consequences! I was never offered a second change in life! You and your brother were the only ones who ever wanted to look after me. I had no one else... because of you I am still alive. Tell me, what am I supposed to do with my life! Apparently you forbid me to join the military so tell me... what do you want me to do? Shall I repeat how many job interviews I have had? How many times have I been rejected? I am even willing to give you their phone numbers so you can check if I am not lying because apparently,  you don't believe me!'

He sighed and stared out of the windshield. 'Tell me, what do you want me to do? What kind of job will suit met? Tell me, apparently you know it all too well,' I said. He looked at me again. 'Something that doesn't involve fighting or going into battle,' he said. 'If you have a good suggestion, I am willing to listen but as long as we stay in this gray zone, I am gonna do what I wanna do and I don't need your damn permission. There are plenty of mechs that can teach me and I don't necessarily need you for that,' I snapped. 'Have you ever thought about the consequences? Like... getting shot? Lose a leg or an arm or maybe you injure your spinal cord? Have you thought about that?" he asked. 'Of course I did,' I sulked. 'Yeah, sure you did,' he snapped and got his alt-mode off the handbrake. He rolled his eyes. 'I don't think you did. We don't want you to get yourself into trouble, that's how easy it is,' he said. 'Before you ask... we had no choice. It was war and everyone had to fight or you got killed... your world isn't in a war like we experienced. You have a choice and I don't want you to join the military, but my opinion doesn't matter so...' he trailed. 'For the first time you are right...' I sulked. He shrugged, 'don't come crawling towards me when you end up half dead,' he groused. 'I won't...  my pride is too high for that I would rather die than asking you for help in battle,' I sneered. 'We are so nice today,' he scowled. 'You know what... pull over.' He rolled his eyes but came to a stop. 'What are you gonna do?'  he asked. 'Going back to base... goodluck,' I snapped and slammed his door closed. I could hear him grunt.

I walked back to base. 'Amethyst? Where is Sideswipe?' Prime asked. 'I left him... at the side of the road. I can't do it! I skip this training, screw him!' I sneered and slammed the door of the hallway shut behind me.
