Chapter 18. Mistake
"Amethyst?"
I rubbed her head but there was barely a reaction from her. She has been sleeping for six hours straight and I began to worry something might be wrong with her. Her eyes were dull and she seemed to be off this planet. "Sweetspark... you need to wake up," I mumbled. She hadn't heard me and closed her eyes again. "Damn it, Sunstreaker," I cursed and looked up. My brother was nowhere to be seen, still not back from his meeting. I picked Amethyst up and held her in my lap. I gently placed the glass of water against her lips and helped her drink. She needed to stay hydrated and hopefully, the water will flush the sedative out of her system.
My brother walked in. "Look what you did to her. She's not even responding to her name," I snapped. "Yeah, but she got the rest she needs," my brother snapped back. I laid Amethyst back down on her bed and covered her up. She felt really cold for some odd reason. "Look, the sooner she's healed, the sooner she can do whatever she wants, okay? Her ribs are broken and she keeps running around like a toddler. We can't have that. We are already busy enough. If she doesn't want to stay in her room and do as she's told then we do it our way," he snapped. I looked back at the femme again. Her breath started to slow down at a point she was barely breathing. I got up and sat on the edge, checking her heartbeat. "It's too slow... we need to get Ratchet and check her over," I said, looking at Sunstreaker who sat down beside me and checked her heartbeat.
"I am sure her spark is beating just fine... who cares if it's a little slower?" he mocked getting up. "For humans that's really dangerous, Sunstreaker. You can kill her, what if you gave her too much of that sedative... then you poisoned her," I snapped and got up. "You know what... we wait five more minutes and if her spark beat isn't back to normal we go get Ratchet, alright?" he asked. "No, I want to get him right now... this isn't normal and her sparkbeat won't go back to normal either!" I sneered before I pushed him out of the way and marched over to the door. "The only reason you don't want me to get Ratchet is because you're scared he'll tell Prime and Prowl about the sedative you stole!" I snapped.
"You are so overreacting right now... all I want to do is make sure she'll heal faster!" he snapped. "There are other ways to do that! I am going to get Ratchet!" I snapped and left, slamming the door shut. As I reached the medbay, I walked up to a nurse. "I am looking for Ratchet? Is he around?" I asked. "No, he's in a meeting right now, but you can leave a message with me if you'd like," she said and flashed me a smile. "No, it's urgent," I sulked. "There are other doctors working here––" I cut her off. "I am going to find Ratchet." I turned around and walked off. I found him in a meeting room and knocked on the door. "Sideswipe, is it urgent?" Optimus asked. "Kinda... I came for Ratchet," I said, glancing at the medic. He got up and walked over to me. "What's wrong?" He crossed his arms and was rather annoyed with me for interrupting him.
"Amethyst heart dropped... like... drastically and her breathing slowed down as well. Sunstreaker wanted her to rest and stole these medicines." Ratchet took them, "that idiot! He'll kill her!" he snarled and walked off. I sprinted after him back to the medbay where he grabbed a few things and headed for our room. Ratchet didn't even look at Sunstreaker as he came in and pushed my brother aside. He sat down, checked her over, gave her some medicines and a water infusion. "What were you thinking, Sunstreaker? You could have killed her with these medicines. How much did you give her?" he snapped. "Two pills," he replied. "That's an overdose for her, Sunstreaker. Even if I would give her these pills, she would get ⅓ of what you just gave her. If Sideswipe hadn't told me... she would be dead in an hour," he snapped before he left and slammed the door shut.
I sat down next to Amethyst and brushed some hair from her face. "You're a selfish brat!" I snapped, glaring at my brother. "Why was this selfish? Because I wanted to make her rest?" he snapped back. "You should have known that it was dangerous... you gave her an overdose," I hissed. "I made a mistake but she'll be fine," he growled. "You can tell her what you did, that you lied to her and nearly killed her," I snapped. Sunstreaker shot me a glare, "why would I do that?" He crossed his arms. "Because if you don't... I will tell her the truth and tell her everything in detail. You broke her trust so you deal with the consequences as well," I snapped.
I stayed awake all night to make sure she was okay and next morning around 10 AM, she finally woke up. "How do you feel?" I asked quietly, kissing her head. "Tired..." she replied. "You're okay..." I mumbled and kissed her head. She pulled away from me and looked at the infusion in her arm. I think she slowly started to realize something was wrong. "He poisoned me," she hissed. "He didn't poison you. He'll explain what happened, okay?" I asked. "I know exactly what happened. I heard him talking to you. He gave me a sedation," she spat. "Amethyst. He didn't mean to get you in a life threatening situation, okay? All he wanted was to make sure you would rest," I said and brushed some hair from my face.
Sunstreaker walked in ten minutes later. "You lied to me!" she shouted. "Amethyst, it wasn't like that. I didn't want to get you killed," he said and approached. "You were the one to give me a speech about trust and then you gave me a heavy sedative and lied about it. You never talked to Ratchet and I know because I heard you talking to Sideswipe about it," she snapped. "I am sorry. I didn't mean to harm you in any way, I just want you to listen for once and rest. You keep running around all day and that way you don't heal," he snapped back. "That's enough, both of you. Sunstreaker... you were wrong and not her. There are other ways to make her rest but not the way you did it," I stated. He snorted and left.
