Chapter 17. Playing a game

"Jolt!"

The said mech flinched and gave us a sheepish smile. "WhereMs Thyst?" I asked. "That's a funny story actually," he said. Sunstreaker and I cocked our heads to the side. "So, after you dropped her off, Amethyst wanted to play a game and I sort of lost her," he said. "What do you mean, you sort of lost her?" I snapped and crossed my arms. "Like... she's somewhere but I don't know exactly where."

Sunstreaker punched his jaw. "Yo, Bro... calm down for a bloody second," I grabbed my brother and pulled him away from Jolt. "What's going on here!" Ratchet sounded snappy and irritated. "He lost Thyst! She was supposed to be here so someone can keep an eye on her but he lost her!" Sunstreaker sneered. I folded my brothers arms on his back to prevent him from hitting anyone else.

"She was full of energy... all she wanted was to play a game. She's just bored. What exactly did you expect her to do? Just follow me around and sit still?" Jolt argued back. "Enough, all of you! Just keep your damn mouth shut or I will get Prowl." We looked at Ratchet. "She's still in this building, okay. Probably still in the medical wing so what's the damn problem?!"

"The fact Jolt was supposed to look after her."

"She has lived on the streets since she was five. That's 13 years, Sideswipe. She grew up without parents, without rules, without chores, without proper care and without discipline. She was free to go wherever she wanted. That's the life she knows and you can't expect her to completely change her life style. She wants to do activities, she wants to keep herself occupied and she wants to learn. She's a smart girl, but sometimes I feel like you two are treating her like she's 2 years old."

"Don't be so strict. She hates it and you'll push her away further. Don't be mad at her for stupid things like this. It was wrong of her to go train, but she has the right to walk around and make some friends. Clear?" We gave a small nod in understanding. "Now, go find her!" He snapped and pointed at the corridor. We passed the two mechs while Ratchet in the mean time had a look at Jolt's jaw.

We searched everywhere for our charge but she was so hard to find. "Amethyst!" Sunstreaker called out, not too hard but loud enough she should hear it. My brother let out a scream and jumped up. Amethyst chuckled at his reaction. "Where was that for?" He snapped. "Because you did it to me this morning," she said in a matter of fact tone. She turned towards me, studying my face for a moment. I think she was trying to figure out if we were angry or not. "Where have you been?" I asked. She gestured us to follow her and pointed at a air shaft in the wall. "How did you get up there?" I asked.

"Flying..." she replied sarcastically. I crossed my arms and gave her a look. "What do you think? Climbing of course," she mocked and turned around. The air shift was just underneath the ceiling, so it's high. How was she able to climb in with broken ribs? She took a sprint again and disappeared. "No, running!" My brother shouted after her but I don't think she heard him. "This way here runs will never heal..." Sunstreaker sulked. I hummed in agreement. "Be right back."

Sunstreaker walked away and I caught up with Thyst. She was talking excitedly to Jolt. Despite he never found her, he was still excited as well and hugged her. "Come on, Thyst." I wrapped my arm around her and took her with me. "Where's your brother?" She asked, looking behind her. "I don't know... he'll come in a minute," I shrugged. "Are you mad?" She asked. "It's fine," I sighed. "So you are?" She asked. "I am not mad, why would I be mad? You didn't gave me a reason to be mad," I said. She hummed and walked over to her room.

Sunstreaker joined some time later. "Where were you?" She asked. "Oh, just a little chat with Ratchet," he said. I knew my brother was lying. "He gave me these medicines," Sunstreaker added. Thyst slid off the bed and took them from Sunstreaker. "For what? I am not sick," she said with a frown. "Makes sure you heal faster," he said. He handed her some water and two pills. With hesitation, she swallowed the pills and placed the now empty glass, back on the table.

She turned back to what she was doing but at some point she laid down and fell asleep. "Thyst?" I touched her arm but she was out. "What did you gave her?" I asked. "Makes sure she gets the rest she needs and doesn't walk around all day," he sulked. I took the small bottle and looked at what it was. "This is a heavy sedation. You can't do that. This stuff is strong enough to knock out a cow. I don't agree with this, Sunstreaker!" I snapped. Sunstreaker rolled his eyes, "she'll be fine. All I she needs is a little bit of rest. Don't worry so much for Primus sake," he scowled.

"You can't give her sedation like this without informing Ratchet, Sunstreaker," I shouted and snitched the phone out of his hands. "You can't do this... what were you thinking?" he snapped. "I did what I had to do... Ratchet wouldn't give me sedation at all," he scowled. "Yeah, for obvious reasons," I snapped and pointed at the female who was out. "I am not going to argue with you about this, Sideswipe. She's asleep and that's all that matters right now," he snapped. "You are a jerk, Sunstreaker. Seriously, how can you do this, without asking advice... this is wrong and you know it," I snapped. He shrugged and snitched his phone back. "I am going to get Ratchet," I scowled.

"No, you don't!"
"Yes, I will because you can't do this to her," he snapped. Sunstreaker rolled his eyes and sat back down, scrolling through his phone. "You're too worried," he scowled under his breath. "This is irresponsible, Sunstreaker. You know it," he snapped, with out in the open, I left and slammed the door shut behind me. I walked over to the meeting room where Ratchet was right now and knocked before walking. "Sorry to interupt... I need Ratchet... it's urgent." Ironhide raised a brow and got up as well. "No, Sunny and I didn't end up in a fight... honestly, I didn't injure him," I said. Ratchet gestured to Ironhide to sit back down and walked up to me.

"What's going on?" He shut the door and crossed his arms. "How strong are these?" Ratchet snitched the bottle out of my hands. "Sunstreaker gave them to Amethyst... he wanted to make her rest but I am concerned... he stole them from the medbay without telling me or Thyst anything. Her sparkbeat slowed down..." I scowled. "An overdose could kill her... where's she now?"

"In her room." Ratchet passed me and grabbed a few things before walking into her room. "You're an idiot, Sunstreaker. You can't just do this, steal medicines and give it to her," he snapped. Sunstreaker glared at me. "Don't look at him or I will go to Prime right away," he snapped. Sunstreaker avoided his eyes and looked down at his lap while Ratchet gave her an infuse. "I want you to keep a very close eye on her and come to me when this sack is empty, okay?" I nodded and watched Ratchet check some vitals. "You are coming with me for a little chat," Ratchet snapped as he grabbed Sunstreaker neck and dragged him with me outside.
