Chapter 10. Shooting range
I looked up as Sideswipe came in and muted the TV. "Hi, you're okay?" he asked, handing me a tray with food. I gave a small nod and took it from him. "Yeah, I feel fine..." I mumbled. He flashed me a smile and sat on the edge for a moment. "Sunstreaker and I will be out for a couple of hours," he said. "That's alright. I will entertain myself. I am watching this documentary, so... it's fine," I mumbled, taking a bite. "You look really depressed," he noticed. "I am just sad that I put so much effort in fitting and still no one wanted me. You know that living on the streets means looking after yourself. I am scared for the future and scared my body will give up on me. I have the spirit but lately, I noticed that my body just doesn't want to work."
"You will be okay. Sunstreaker and I will help you through it and don't be afraid to ask for anything. I know you hate it, but honestly, we are more than happy to do it for you." I gave a small nod and watched him got up. "See you around, Amethyst," he mumbled and left. After my meal, I slid out of bed and walked around the base, ending up in the shooting range. I looked around and found a metal closet, as I reached for it, I noticed it was open. Slowly, I peeked inside and grabbed a gun. I looked at the dummies and decided to give it a shot.
I grabbed the warehouse as well and walked over to the white line. I stood behind it and pressed the button. The target started to move and I started to shoot. I hit every single one of them and stopped as the warehouse was empty. I pressed on the button to make the dummies stop moving and looked at my work for a moment. "You have experiences with guns?" I turned around to face Ironhide. "I am sorry... I didn't mean to just take a weapon..." I handed him the gun, which he took. "It's fine... do you have experience?" he asked. "No, never held a gun in my entire lifetime. I have seen others use guns..." I mumbled and shrugged, looking down at the ground.
"You are better than most soldiers here," he said. "What? No... you are overreacting." Ironhide watched me. "I am sorry. I have to go," I passed him. I headed back to my room and took a nice warm shower before laying in bed and fell asleep. It was already late.

"Sideswipe... have you seen Amethyst already?" My brother shook his head and jumped back on his feet. "She doesn't leave her room unless she has to. Maybe she wants to go into town with us?" he asked. I gave a small nod and we left. Halfway through, Ironhide walked over to us. "I think you are right." We both looked confused. "What are you talking about?" Sideswipe questioned. "Amethyst. She's an amazing sniper. Last night, she was alone in the shooting range and she hit every single dummy. Were you aware of that?" he asked. "No, she doesn't talk much about the things she likes to do or is good at. Amethyst is really hard and critical for herself," Sideswipe said. "Have a chat with her. She's better than some experienced soldiers..."
We watched Ironhide walk off and we made our way over to her room. As we walked in, she was sitting on the wind sill, looking outside. In her hands, she held a notebook and had drawn a couple of things but she pushed her notebook away as soon as she saw us like she didn't want us to see it. "Morning."
"Morning... are you busy?" I asked. She shook her head and pointed at the window, "I just watched Mirage and Jazz leave. Nothing special," she said. "Were you drawing?" I pushed. Amethyst shrugged. "It's more doodling. Just some quick... sketches. Anyway, what brings you here?" she asked to change the subject. I passed her while Sideswipe spoke up. "We wondered if you would like it to go into town with us." Amethyst watched me grab the notebook. "Uhm... yea- It's not beautiful or anything..." she marched over to me as I flipped through some pages. She had made a beautiful drawing of a cat and some cat studies. "It looks really good." I turned it around and held it up for my brother. Amethyst snitched it out of my hands and shut her notebook, stuffing it underneath her pillow. "Yeah, let's go into Washington DC. I would like to be outside," she said and grabbed her shoes.
She was uncomfortable and Sides and I both saw it. She got up and flashed us a nervous smile. "It's beautiful, Amethyst." She shrugged again and opened the door, pointing at it. We passed her and watched her shut the door. "Where did you learn to draw?" I asked. "I have a photographic memory... so it's really easy for me to remember how other artists draw and paint. It's not as good as real artists. It's just to keep my mind occupied. Shall we drop it?" I gave a small nod and looked at my brother for a brief second.
She safely decided to drive with my twin. I am not going to force her to drive with me but we slowly started to see what she likes and is good at. I don't understand why she's so hard for herself. It's not necessary and I love to see more of her drawings but I am sure she won't show her drawings anymore. Once we arrived, Amethyst was very quiet as she moved over the streets and walked ahead of us. She was constantly looking around as if she expected people to attack her. She halted and stared at something. Sideswipe gave her a soft push but she didn't move, instead, she sprinted down the road towards whatever she had been looking at and we had to chase her.
She was yelling at a guy in a different language. I didn't know what language but it was a heated argument and some punches were exchanged. I came between them and glared at the male. "She started this," he hissed and pointed at me. "Murderer!" Amethyst hissed and glared at the stranger again, but obviously knew who he was. "You got no proof!" I had enough and pushed the male away from her. "Get out of here, "I snarled. "You can't just keep running off, Amethyst," Sideswipe said, grabbing her wrist. "He killed my friend..." was all she said before turning around and walking off.
I pushed her towards the mall. The energy coming from the other humans helped Amethyst to get in a better mood and she actually started to enjoy this little trip, relaxing a little bit. I needed a couple of things from Wallmark. "Amethyst," I called her over she walked up to me. "You need female products," I said. She instantly started to protest. "No, Sunstreaker. You don't have to pay--" I cut her off. "But I will..." I said and pushed her towards the female section. She had a look around before she looked at me again. "Go on." Sideswipe stepped next to me and together, we watched her. "Let's free her from her torture," he mocked with a smirk and walked up to me after ten minutes. Sideswipe started to pick things for her.
As we headed down again, I noticed Amethyst stayed behind and looked over my shoulder. She was looking for a top. A white top. She loved it. "You want the top?" I asked. Shocked she looked at me and shook her head, passing us. "No, I was just... looking at it," she replied and headed downstairs.
