Chapter 19

"Smoking is not good Manky" Dhriti came to the roof.

"It's stress reliever" Mayank spoke puffing and making smoke rings.

"Give it to me" Dhriti asked Mayank to give the cigarette bud he had.

"What?" Mayank looked between cigarette bud and Dhriti totally confused.

"It's a stress releaser and I too need to be stress free" Dhriti replied.

Mayank sighed trampled the cigarette bud under his feet.

"Why are you so stressed?" Dhriti questioned.

"I just married my cousin, it isn't enough to stress out. Our families will disown us "
Mayank spoke out.

"Few minutes ago,you only said that this isn't a real wedding.Now what happened?" Dhriti asked.

"If you believe all the stupid superstitions and social conventions in our country, then yes we are married. Just because a guy puts a mark on her forehead, doesn't mean she becomes his for life. This logic works for objects and not for people" Dhriti explained.

"But let's just meet some priest to confirm" Mayank spoke out.

"Okay so if the priest says, I am your wife then what will you do?" Dhriti laughed.

"Hmm...plan a honeymoon" Mayank came with a savage reply and Dhriti turned crimson.

"Pandit ji (Priest) tell us when will Sneha again get married?" Gargi asked the Priest.

"Until and unless she gets married to the Peepal or Banana tree she won't get married happily" the Priest spoke out.

"Any prayer that we can do to get her married?" Sneha's mother asked.

"There is one way but that would require some dakshna" Priest replied.

"Take more money but tell us a way to get rid of Sneha" Gargi snapped.

"Out of all the remedies fasting on Tuesdays is also considered an effective remedy. Manglik individuals who observe a fast on this day should eat only toor daal (split pigeon daal)" the Priest suggested.

A hot spot for career socialite, Hauz Khas market isn't just a place anymore, Hauz Khas market in Hauz Khas village is an expression. Flocked with socialites from all over the city, the lanes of Hauz Khas village is usually flooded by those seeking to hang out and relax with their friends.

Hauz Khas Village market is majorly known for its never-ending lanes of Cafes, 62 cafes and restaurants to be precise. A combination of Soho and Greenwich Village, Hauz Khas.

"Why are we meeting in this pub called with a weird PCO (Pass Code Only)?" Krish spoke out to Shweta.

PCO, A speakeasy hidden in a quiet market, this is the epitome of a classic underground party scene. Enjoy signature cocktails while grooving to Frank Sinatra on the first floor (don't miss the hidden cigar lounge) or step down to the basement decked with wooden seats and flooring and dance to top 40 and old-school tracks while the DJ plays from a laptop balanced on overturned wine barrels. You'll need a passcode to enter (it changes a few times a week and is sent out to a private list of people).

"It's my favorite club" Shweta replied.

"How often do you drink?" Krish asked.

"As often as you smoke" Shewta shot back.

"Why don't you reply in a straight forward manner?" Krish scoffed.

"Your questions are crooked what can I do?" Shweta shrugged sipping wine.

Krish took out his cigarette
and looked for lighter in his pocket.

"Here you go" Shweta spoke out giving him a heart shaped lighter.

"Do you smoke as well!" Krish eyes bulged out of their sockets in shock.

"Yeah,I do but not this cheap brand that you are smoking,I take Marlboro" Shewta replied.

"And how often do you smoke?" Krish questioned.

"Hmm...once a week only" Shewta replied.

"Smoking and Drinking is bad,quit it" Krish advised.

"Look who's talking! You smoke so many times a day" Shweta mocked Krish.

"But atleast I don't drink" Krish defended himself.

"An addiction is an addiction if you smoke then admit that you smoke, don't be hypocrite" Shweta stated.

"It's okay if I smoke but it doesn't suit you to drink and smoke" Krish spoke out.

"It suits no one to smoke or drink but we are all humans are living like insects sipping fertilizers of cigarette and alcohol. Insects can't protect themselves from pesticides and insecticides but we humans ,the most intelligent beings are killing ourselves" Shweta spoke out thinking deeply.

                              ~~~
"Are we both married?" Mayank asked the local priest.
"No you both are not married" The priest replied.
"Thank God I am not married to Manky" Dhriti sighed in relief.
"No, these two are married"  another priest replied.
"But mantras were not chanted and pehras(rituals  of marriage)were also not done" the former spoke out.
"But the boy filled her hairline with vermilion in his scenes ,henceforth she is his wife now" the second priest replied angrily.
Both priests started arguing with each other. Mayank and Dhriti silently left the temple without being noticed by anyone in the temple,leaving the all  priests of the temple fighting over which 'priest is most superior in religious knowledge among all the priest' .
"Even Priest could not decide Manky " Dhriti chuckled.
"That means now we have to decide whether we are married" Mayank spoke out.
"For Madhavi ji we will pretend to be married and in lone time we are best friends" Dhriti replied.
"But what if either of us fall in love?" Mayank questioned looking at her radiant face.
"No,Monkey I won't fall for you" Dhriti laughed.
"Yes,Lizard I too won't love you romantically.You are not my type" Mayank smirked.
"Huh...what's your type?" Dhriti frowned.
"You are already acting like my wife" Mayank mocked.
"There is one bed here" Mayank spoke out.
"Okay you sleep on the bed and I will sleep on the floor" Dhriti suggested.
"No you sleep on bed,you have a trial as well tomorrow, rest properly" Mayank stated.
"You can't sleep on floor, I know it's your habit " Dhriti spoke out.
"I have slept on footpath as well. Life has taught this Monkey a lot" Mayank replied.
Dhriti and Mayank slept in anti parallel direction on the bed. Dhriti traced at the vermilion of her forehead on her fingertip.
"How drastically it happened, am I married or unmarried? Life is a bitch seriously " Dhriti thought and slept with a sigh of confusion.
