Chapter 48: Philippine Adventure Part 2: Poblacion Homecoming
Still reeling from meeting his celebrity crush Ivana Alawi, Luke continues to enjoy his vacation with his future wife Liv Morgan.
Liv: Lukey, since you mentioned that you have a town named after you, what do you think of us visiting there?
Luke: Poblacion Ardiente? Oh... I don't know about that
Liv recalled Luke's dark past with his evil biological family.
Liv: oh sorry Lukey, I forgot about that
Luke: oh it's okay, all I heard that the town is in peace thanks to their benevolent governor
Liv: your sister-in-law
Luke: yup, and I believe it's the perfect time for us to meet for the first time since kuya Diego's passing
Liv: I have seen pictures of its famous landmark
Luke: oh! The tall wind turbine, yeah I don't know why, but I believe the town wants to turn to a safer energy consumption using wind
Liv: or it just looks cool
Luke: I'll take the second option
Liv: let's go!
Luke: road trip!
The couple got in their car and drove to the namesake town of the Nomad.
Luke: alright, we will know that we're near by when we see the tall wind turbine
Liv: I'll keep my eyes out for a tall propeller
Luke and Liv drove along the open road while taking in the fresh air of the Philippine countryside.
Liv: it's so nice all the way out here
Luke: oh yeah, away from the loud noises of the city
After a few minutes of driving, Liv saw something in the distance.
Liv: ooh, I see a big propeller!
Luke: oh that's the turbine, we're close!
As they passed by the giant wind turbine, the two saw the main entrance gate to the town of Bagong Poblacion Ardiente.
Luke: welcome to New Poblacion Ardiente
Liv: oooh, Lukey's town
Luke chuckled as he and Liv continued to drive until they see the town in the distance.
Liv: wow it looks so nice
Luke: it now is thanks to Governor Cruz, it took a lot of work for her to rebuild the damage that was left from my so called grandfather
Liv: all that work paid off, let's go walk around
Luke: alright, oh I see a free public parking space
The Nomad parked his car in the public area and the couple got out to walk around the namesake town.
They went to the town center and saw a statue and monument that is dedicated to Luke's brother, Diego Torillo.
Liv: Lukey, is that him?
Luke: yup, that's my brother, Governor Diego Torillo
Liv: he looks like a good man
Luke: he is, and his remains are at the cemetery
Liv: you wanna pay him a visit?
Luke: yes, let's go
The couple walked to the cemetery hand in hand. They look around for the gravestone of Luke's brother.
Luke: there he is
Liv rubbed his arm, telling him she is with him. Then Luke knelt down at the gravestone.
Luke: hey bro, it's been a long time since I visited. I know you're watching from above and you're proud of what I become. I'm standing up for myself and I'm standing for what's right and for the people, exactly what you did for the good citizens of the Poblacion. Now, I have a beautiful woman who will be my wife
Luke waved his hand to tell Liv to come over. Liv smiled and knelt beside the Nomad and introduced herself to Diego.
Liv: hello Diego, I'm Liv, your brother's love, and don't worry I'm always by his side every day; he makes me so happy
After the couple said their respectful words to Diego, the couple left the cemetery and continued to explore the town. They saw a vendor selling Liv's favorite street foods.
Liv: lumpia and fishie balls!
Luke smiled and chuckled at Liv's cute appetite of the Filipino street foods. The couple went to the vendor and purchased some food. The vendor recognized the Nomad.
Vendor: ikaw si Luke Ardiente, yung pro wrestler (you're Luke Ardiente, the pro wrestler)
Luke: opo, ako si Luke (yes, I am Luke), pero (but) I'm never like my "family"
Vendor: alam ko yan, mabait ka (I know, you're a kind person)
Luke: sige po, ako na ang bibili ng pagkain mo (okay sir, I'm gonna buy all of your food)
Vendor: talaga sir?! (really sir?!)
Luke smiled and handed the vendor 5,000 Philippine pesos.
Luke: para makauwi ka sa maghapon at makasama ang iyong pamilya (so you can go home for the day and be with your family)
Luke put all the street food in a big bag and helped the vendor cleaned up his cart. Liv smiled and watched as Luke helped his fellow countryman.
Vendor: salamat sir! (thank you sir)
Luke: ingat po (take care sir)
The vendor walked home and Luke smiled as he went to Liv.
Liv: my fiancé is so kindhearted
Luke: oh I am
Liv: and he got me lunch and dinner
Liv giggled as she held up the big bag of lumpia, fish balls and kwek kwek.
Luke: alright, let's go to city hall and drop in on my sister-in-law
Liv nodded as she ate. Then the couple walked to city hall and hopes to see Governor Lily Cruz-Torillo. The two walked up the steps and the Nomad mentioned his name to the guard; the guard let the couple in and the two admired the interior of the hall.
Luke saw the pictures of all the past governors of the town, including his wicked grandfather Julio, his brother Diego and the current governor, Lily Cruz.
Liv: a roller coaster ride of history, huh?
Luke: oh yeah
As the two looked at the bios of the past governors, they heard a voice behind them.
???: can I help you two with something?
Luke and Liv turned to see a well dressed woman in front of them, but that woman was none other than the current governor of Bagong Poblacion Ardiente herself, Lily Cruz-Torillo.
Luke: ate Lily? (big sister?)
Lily took a second to realize that she is seeing her long lost brother-in-law.
Lily: Luke? Bunso? (young sibling)
Lily went to hug her brother-in-law and a tear fell from her eye, knowing about their close family like bond with the late Diego.
Lily: how are you Luke? I've seen your work in America, you're a big time name there
Luke: I'm okay and I'm doing so well
Then Lily turned her eyes to Liv.
Lily: Luke, who is she?
Luke: ah ate Lily, this is my future wife and fellow pro wrestler, Liv Morgan.
Liv: nice to meet you, Governor
Lily: please, you can call me Lily
Luke smiled as Lily and Liv shook hands with each other.
Lily: so when is the wedding?
Lily smirked and teased her brother.
Luke: ate (big sister)
Liv: we haven't set a final date yet
Luke: but we agreed that our wedding is here in the Philippines
Liv: we just don't have an exact location
Lily: oh, what about here at the town?
Luke: may point ka, ate (you have a point) the town is located in a perfect place in the country, and it's not too noisy
Liv: and I do like it here
Lily: sige (okay) I'll reserve the church whenever you guys have the date ready
Luke: salamat ate (thank you sister)
Lily: Luke, you're family, we're always there for each other, and we know Diego is happy and watching
Luke smiled and hugged his sister-in-law; then Lily went to hug her future sister Liv.
Lily: I can't wait for the wedding
Luke: me too
The Nomad smiled and gave Liv a kiss on her head.
(Time skip)
The couple went back to their hotel and rested for the day. With the church at Bagong Poblacion Ardiente as their wedding venue, the couple can only think is the wedding date.
Luke: I can't wait for our wedding, babe
Liv: oh me too, Lukey, but I'm really excited for the... honeymoon
Liv smirked and winked as she kissed Luke's blushing red cheeks.
Luke: oh Liv
Liv giggled and cuddled with her love. Then the two took a nap and rested as they will drive over to Baguio to visit the Nomad's parents.
