Chapter 17: The Fight Continues
(A few weeks later)
With Backlash in two weeks, the card is stacked up as follows:
Becky Lynch (c) vs. Liv Morgan - Singles match for the SmackDown Women's Championship
Kevin Owens vs. Baron Corbin - Singles match
Dominik Mysterio (with Rey Mysterio) vs. Sami Zayn - Singles match
Luke Ardiente (c) vs. Jey Uso - Singles match for the Intercontinental Championship
Roman Reigns (c) vs. Cesaro - Singles match for the WWE Universal Championship
It was two weeks since NXT was rebranded from black and gold to a bright and colorful set. Luke saw the highlights and was both puzzled and confused.
Luke: okay so Kyle O'Reilly gets attacked backstage and his replacement is a dude named... Von Wagner. And you got Scott Steiner's nephew and you gave him a ridiculous name. I need to calculate using Steiner's math... just add Kurt Angle into the mix, and the chances of a successful show drastically go down. Well McMahon and your balyena partner, the numbers of ratings will spell disaster for you at Sacrifice
He then saw that he will defend his Intercontinental title against the Tribal Chief's Right Hand Man, Jey Uso.
Luke: interesting... just hope his brother won't interfere and when will Cesaro and I get a tag team title shot? Oh right, it's up to the balyena
But the match that made him smile big was Liv's title opportunity against Big Time Becks. The Nomad nodded and smiled at the card.
Luke: this is your moment babe. Take it and go for it
Tonight was SmackDown, and Luke or Cesaro was not booked for the show yet, until WWE's COO Triple H came walking in and found the Nomad.
Triple H: hey Luke, you're on for tonight
Luke: really? But I thought that creative didn't have-
Triple H: don't mind what those corporate nimrods have in store because I personally went to the office and ripped the script up, so for tonight, it's all freedom for the Superstars tonight
Luke: excellent, that is what all of us wanted
Triple H: well if the Superstars like it, let's see if the fans like it
Luke: I'll bet you $100 that tonight will be successful
Triple H: I'll accept your bet. You're on
Luke: so what's my match?
Triple H: I put you and Cesaro in a non-title tag team match against the SmackDown Tag Team Champions, the Usos
Luke nodded in approval.
Luke: alright, that's cool. Cesaro and I can work with that
Triple H: put on a great show tonight
Luke: yes sir
Triple H: I'll be watching from the back, if there's anything the fans don't like, we'll fix it
Luke: got it sir
The COO took his leave and went to the gorilla to get ready for the show. Meanwhile, Luke went to the locker room to give Cesaro the news, but he was stopped by none other than the creative head, the balyena Prichard. The Nomad smirked as he saw Bruce's irritated look.
Luke: aww, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed
Bruce: did you tear up the script for tonight's show?
Luke: no I didn't... Triple H did
Bruce: w-what?
Luke: because he knew it will piss off your biggest clients, the people sitting in the arena right now
Bruce sighed deeply.
Bruce: you and Cesaro's tag team match is not happening tonight
Luke: oh it is
Bruce: no-
Luke: talk to the hand, balyena
The Nomad did Maryse's signature hand gesture and then shoved Bruce down.
Luke: I got a job to do
The Nomad smirked as he walked to his locker room to get ready. After putting on his attire, he forwarded the news to Cesaro. The Swiss Superman was excited for the match and hope for a tag team title shot, and eventually a showdown against the Tribal Chief. Their match was the main event, so they had time to get ready for later.
While Luke was going to catering, something or someone jumped on his back, but he already knew it was as he felt some soft lips on his neck.
Luke: babe?
Liv giggled and laid her head on his shoulder.
Liv: it's me!
Luke: oh you're such a cutie
Liv giggled as she pepper his cheeks with kisses while she still hung on to him.
Liv: I heard you and Cesaro had a tag team match tonight
Luke: yeah, unfortunately it's not for the titles, but hey we have to work our way to earn our shot
Liv: yeah, just like me
Luke: exactly
Liv: quick question. Are you, Cesaro and I in a faction together?
Luke didn't give a clear answer, but can only smirk and give Liv the quiet finger. Liv was initially confused, but she immediately knew that the three of them are a resistance and rebellious group combatting the terrible creative scripts made by Prichard, John Laurinaitis and WWE President Nick Khan, which made the WWE's biggest clients angry, the fans themselves.
Luke: I'm gonna go get ready for my match, babe
Liv: alright, I'll see you later, handsome
The two shared a kiss before the Nomad left to prepare himself. Meanwhile, there was an ongoing match between Toni Storm and the SmackDown Women's Champion, Becky Lynch. As Liv watched an idea flew into her head.
(Meanwhile)
Luke was putting his attire while he was watching the ongoing women's match between Lynch and Storm. He watched to the finish as he saw Becky setting Toni up for the Dis-Arm-Her, but Big Time Becks saw Liv standing on the announce table taunting the champion.
Becky had her back turned as she was distracted, but the tables turned as Toni snuck up from behind and got the champion for a roll up pinfall victory, surprising the crowd and Becky while Liv waved at Becky with a smirk on her face.
Big Time Becks dared her challenger to get in the ring, and Liv happily obliged. The champion and challenger traded shots before Liv ducked a right hand from the champion and dropped Becky with a dropkick, making her roll out of the ring and retreated with her title.
Liv posed for the crowd while she did the belt motion with her hands, telling Becky that her days as champion is numbered.
(Meanwhile)
Luke was clapping for his girlfriend after outsmarting the champion.
Luke: yeah babe, yeah!
(A few minutes later)
Luke met with Cesaro in the gorilla for their non-title tag team match against the SmackDown Tag Team Champions, the Usos. The Nomad and the Swiss Superman were ready for a tall task ahead.
Luke: ready?
Cesaro: let's do it
The two fist bumped as they watched the Bloodline make their entrance.
(In the ring)
Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman were sitting at ringside as they watched the Usos in action. Then Luke and Cesaro made their respective entrances. After the entrances were made, the two teams stared each other down, but also Luke was staring down at the Tribal Chief.
(Cesaro and Luke Ardiente vs. The Usos)
From the start of the match, Cesaro took down Jimmy Uso with a big uppercut and connected a shot to Jey. The Swiss Superstar went for an early cover, but Jimmy kicked out at one. The Usos retreated out of the ring to recover while Roman stared them down with a serious mob boss look on his face.
(Minutes later)
Cesaro tagged in Luke to connect some shots on Jey. The Nomad took down the Right Hand with a northern lights suplex and went for a pin, but Jey kicked out at two. Jimmy attempted to interfere, but he was caught by a scoop powerslam by the Intercontinental Champion.
Luke turned his attention back to his challenger, Jey Uso, but as he went to grab Jey, the Right Hand caught him with a superkick to create some separation for the time being.
(End of match)
The Usos took down Cesaro with a double superkick, and were about to end it with a double Uso Splash, but Luke got back up and pushed Jimmy off, making him crash to the canvas and roll out of the ring. The legal man for the teams were Luke and Jey.
The RIght Hand tried to hit another superkick, but Luke caught his foot, spun him around and locked him in the Katipunan Clutch in the middle of the ring. The Nomad locked it in tight while he stared down at the Head of the Table.
Jimmy tried to help his brother, but he was caught by Cesaro and the Swiss Cyborg locked in the Sharpshooter. The Usos tried to hang on, but they had no choice to tap out to Luke and Cesaro.
Greg Hamilton: here are your winners, the team of Cesaro and the Intercontinental Champion Luke Ardiente!
The winning team stared down at the Head of the Table and his special counsel while Luke raised his Intercontinental title and Cesaro yelling at Roman telling the Tribal Chief that the Universal title is his and this is the Swiss Superman's time to be world champion, something fans wanted to see since his debut in 2012 since they loved his athleticism, strength and speed.

The show ended with Luke and Cesaro celebrating their win as Backlash is near. Not only Cesaro, Luke and Liv are fighting against the blue brand's champions, they're also fighting against the unfair creative booking of the three headed beast known as Bruce Prichard, John Laurinaitis and Nick Khan.
