Chapter 34: Sunlight and clouds
XANDER
Sunlight spilled all over Mia's red curls and her beautiful body still entangled in his white sheets. Xander put the ham and eggs on the wooden table next to his bed. Mia stretched, not opening her eyes and Xander allowed himself to look at her for a moment. He admired everything about her, her toes, her thighs, her gorgeous, sleepy expression.
The sheer happiness he felt was almost terrifying.
"Kiss me." She mumbled, still not opening her eyes. Xander crawled over the bed and gave her a peck on the cheek, smiling lightly. "No, kiss me for real." She grunted and spread out her hands, searching for him.
Xander leaned in and kissed her for real, Mia immediately grabbed him by the neck and pulled him closer. The desire spread through him again, but he didn't know if he was capable of any more physical actions. They both got maybe an hour of sleep.
"Breakfast first, okay?" Xander laughed, unable to stop his heart from skipping beats and demanding her wildly. There was no way to explain the range of emotions he felt, from fear, to tension, to lust and happiness.
"Yes, give me food." Mia opened her eyes, greeting him with the most beautiful gleam there was. Xander could not stop thinking about how stupid Jeff was, for ever letting this goddess go.
She crawled over the bed and grabbed the eggs. They ate in peace, exchanging glances and small smiles. He might have gone to bed wanting her badly, but he woke up thoroughly in love with her.
"Aren't you supposed to be at work?" Xander asked for the sake of asking something. Otherwise, they would keep on giggling like two sixteen year olds crushing on each other.
"I had a fight with my boss, so now I'm asserting dominance." Mia answered, munching on the eggs.
"Sounds like a good idea." Xander said ironically.
"Eh, she's not gonna fire me, she's afraid of my father."
"So, you found a way to use your father's influence, after all." Xander enjoyed the saltiness of the ham caressing his hungover stomach.
"His influence followed me everywhere I went, I was just too stubborn to notice that." Mia said. Her boobs peaked out of Xander's shirt and he had to compose himself because the next thing he wanted to munch on, was her.
"Mia..." Xander began, deciding this was the right moment, before they both got lost in each other again. "My parents are home."
"Shit." Her eyes went wide and she put down the plate.
"It's fine, I can tell Zora to keep them occupied until you leave." He didn't want her to go, he never wanted her to go.
"Zora's here, too?" Her eyes widened further and her awkward expression was adorable.
"Yes. I didn't think we'd be here all through the morning." Xander admitted, realising in retrospect he should've taken that into account. He would never make her leave, but he thought she might insist.
"Oh, don't pretend like you thought we wouldn't end up having sex." Mia smiled, her hands found their way around Xander's neck again. The closeness of her body was enough to awake the desire in him again.
"No, but I didn't think we'd end up having sex four times." Xander laughed, she literally drained him. Mia gently pushed him back on the bed and then roughly straddled him.
"How about the fifth?" She asked and leaned in, tracking his collar bone with her tongue.
"You're insatiable, you know?" Her hair tickled his face and he wanted nothing more than to take her again and to keep doing that all through the day. But the sun came out and it was time to deal with what this all meant. Xander grabbed her by her waist and pushed her back on the bed.
"You're no fun." She pouted, her red lips demanding to be smothered by kisses.
"I hate the fact I have to be the mature one right now." Xander whined and the saddest of expressions crossed over Mia's face.
"I just realised we don't have any condoms left." She said.
"Yeah, okay, let's say that's the sole reason we should not do this again." Xander's brittle laugh sounded foreign in his ears that got used to hearing moans.
"Name one." Mia said playfully.
"How about the fact you're technically still with Jeff?" Xander asked and this earned him another sad pout. He sighed.
"I'm gonna break up with Jeff." Mia rolled her eyes like it was the simplest thing in the world. But Xander knew she was just as high on sex as he was, and neither of them was thinking clearly.
"Alright, but until then, I'm not sleeping with you." Xander put his finger up in the air, knowing full well all she had to do was take her clothes off and he was ready to forget all the promises he made.
"Easy to say when you've already slept with me." Mia winked.
"That was just a taste." Xander remembered what her touch felt like and wished they could just skip everything and go straight to sex again.
"Fine, I'll talk to Jeff. But first, I have to leave somehow."
"You could just..." Xander couldn't believe what he was about to propose. "Introduce yourself?" His heart hammered against his chest and he didn't even know why.
"Are you sure you want to introduce your one-time thing to your parents?" Mia asked suspiciously.
"Don't be stupid, you're at least a four-time thing." Xander laughed and Mia hit him with a pillow. "Ouch!" She pulled him in for another kiss. This one wasn't so demanding, it was gentle and loving. Which made it all the more frightening.
"I'll introduce myself if you're okay with it." She said.
"It might be the more natural thing to do, compared to you jumping out of the window." Xander shrugged his shoulders. His parents were cool that way, both understood that not every woman one brought home was one's future wife.
They got dressed quickly and left the comfort of Xander's room. He still had some work to do today and Mia definitely had stuff to deal with. Otherwise, they might have stayed in bed all day. They ran into Zora on the stairs.
"Ha, I thought I heard noises coming from your room in the morning." Zora smiled widely when she noticed them. Her eyes were red and tired and her face was pale. Mia's cheeks turned bright red immediately.
"Go to sleep, Zora, you're hallucinating." Xander brushed her off.
"No way, dude, I'm heading out."
"Where could you possibly go? And did you sleep at all?" Xander looked over his baby sister.
"And did you sleep at all?" She mocked him. "I'm going to an after party."
"If you don't slow down, you're gonna be dead before college begins." Xander warned her, but Zora gave him the finger and rushed down the stairs. She shouted her goodbyes to their parents and disappeared out of the door.
Xander's heart picked up a pace as him and Mia approached the dining room, where his parents sat around a glass table, sipping coffee. Xander's parents were the epitome of sophistication, which was an illusion carefully crafted for the masses. His mother, Amelia, wore her age exceptionally well, even in her white mantel in the morning. Her curled black hair looked as if she woke up early just to get it done and her piercing blue eyes, so similar to Zora's, looked intrigued.
Xander's father, Charles, kept the white strands of his hair visible, not ashamed of his age, but proud of his wisdom. Everyone claimed Xander looked like his father, which was not a bad deal.
"Good morning." Xander's mother said, a smirk forming on her lips. Xander turned to Mia, seeing the awkwardness written all over her face.
"Mum, dad, this is Mia." Xander gestured towards her and Mia approached, offering her hand. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea, but it was better than sneaking her out. Xander knew his mother would notice.
"Hello, Mia, I'm Amelia, it is nice to meet you. Xander, can I talk to you in the kitchen?" His mother offered a tight smile and he locked eyes with Mia, silently asking her if she could stay alone. But Xander's father was already up on his feet.
"Good morning, Mia, my name is Charles, would you like some coffee? Or tea? We have cookies somewhere, too." He chirped and Xander decided he could leave them for a moment.
"Coffee will be fine, thank you."
Xander followed his mother to the dark red kitchen, that was just a tad more alive than the rest of the house when it came to colouring. His mother turned around and offered one of her wise glances.
"You just broke up with Annie." She pointed out, hiding her face behind the mug.
"I know, I know. But it's... complicated." Xander didn't want to talk about this right here right now and his mother nodded, realising it.
"So, should I be nice? Are we expecting to see her again sometimes?" His mother inquired matter-of-factly, like him and Mia were nothing more than business meetings.
"Be nice." Xander warned and they returned to the dining room, where Xander's father laughed out loud at something Mia said. Her eyes found Xander's and a certain tranquillity passed between them.
"Xander! Did you know Mia is a lawyer? Oh, I have been waiting for a lawyer to fall from the sky!" Xander's father gleamed happily and they continued their conversation.
Xander looked at the girl that sat in his dining room, wondering if they both got too high on each other, wondering if it clouded the reality.
