Snooping, Uninvited Guests
Bonnie's POV:
I know I might not completely get into Pokémon Performances m, but I still want to have a go at it, just like how I'm not sure about whether I'll completely get into Pokémon battles. Maybe I won't like either and I'll just enjoy the fun, games and adventure of my awesome journey with my Pokémon. Maybe I'll go to the Hoenn region or the Sinnoh region and try out Pokémon Contests. Who knows?
But one thing's for sure; Sophie would be a great partner for a Pokémon Showcase. I wish I could catch her. Why couldn't I, though? I'm pretty sure she knows why I couldn't catch her. She looked apologetic and guilty before tapping the Pokéball. She didn't look surprised at all. She must've known all about this.
But what is it?
I look over at Sophie. Everyone's eating by now, even Sophie. We always make sure to give her food as well as the other Pokémon. She's eating with Poipole. It's really sweet that they're never too far apart. They're great friends.
Another reason why it would be really good for me to catch Sophie; I'm sure that she and Poipole will really miss each other when we leave. They always seem so happy around each other. They must go back a long time. That's why Poipole chose this as our safe place to go... well, that and the fact that there really aren't any humans around at all. No wonder Sophie lives out here in privacy.
"Bonnie? Are you okay?" Clemont asks a little worriedly, making me jump. I guess I kinda zoned out. "Yeah, just thinking," I sigh. Clemont, for once, seems to get it. "Just make sure you eat before your food gets cold," he reminded me, and that was it.
I nodded slightly and took another bite of my food, but I was still distracted, trying to think of why Sophie wasn't caught. I can handle the Pokéball taking her in, but her escaping. That's fine. But she didn't even go inside at all!
It reminds me of the time when we were all travelling around Kalos together. Serena tied my hair up differently, like a pretty flower, then the cutest little Flabébé flew over and landed on my head, thinking my hair was a fairy flower. I wanted Clemont to catch it and keep it for me, but when he tapped the Flabébé with an empty Pokéball it hadn't worked because the Flabébé...
Wait a second...
I quickly started shoving food in my face, finishing it up as quickly as possible. Ash, Serena and Clemont all seemed surprised by this. The exact moment I had finished up, I gestured for Dedenne to follow me for safety and moral support and the pair of us ran out into the forest.
~•~
I managed to squeeze inside the entrance to Sophie's burrow, then laughed at a little slide. Yup, this is Sophie's home, all right. I then looked around, thinking. I quickly went to what must be her nest-like bed. It seemed like the obvious choice since it was the only thing down here except for Poipole and me.
I checked in the bed, under the bed, between the leaves, everywhere. I found nothing except Eevee fur. Dedenne found nothing, either.
I sighed and looked around again. What would I do if I was Sophie? Well, I'd probably run around with a cute smile and make Chespin run around after me like a lovesick Rockruff, but that won't help me right now.
I lean back against the wall.
"Ah!"
I look back at here I leaned. My hand had gone through the wall, just past the vines that draped there. I pulled my hand back out and checked it over for any harm done when I realised something.
Of course...
I pulled the vines to the side. Just like I guessed, there was a hole in the wall. What I hadn't guessed was a dug out section at the back of the small hole that clearly was holding secret stuff. I found Sophie's secret stuff!
I started to feel a bit guilty. I'd just broken into Sophie's home and I was now about to go through all her secrets... did I really want to do this? Was I really going to maybe even ruin our friendship for this? Was it really worth all this?
Seeing my hesitation, Dedenne nuzzled me supportively. I smiled and petted his tail, making him chirrup happily. He's always loved getting his tail petted. "What do you think, Dedenne?" I ask. "Should we do it? Sophie might not like us too much if we do... actually, I guess what we're doing is kind of wrong, even if we're doing it for good reasons. She might get really angry at us, but we might be able to figure out what's going on. What do you think?"
I still just got a supportive grin from him, making me smile right back at him. He was going to stand by me no matter what I did, I could tell. That unconditional support was all I needed to finally make my decision. "Okay, Dedenne, go on in there and bring it out if you find it."
"Denenenene!" My little Electric and Fairy Type buddy squeaked obediently, then hopped into the storage hole. He pulled out things like a super cool-looking rainbow-coloured feather, a few random evolution stones (none of them will work on Eevees, though. Sophie probably collects them all because she thinks they look really pretty or shiny or sparkly or something) and a few emergency berries. Other simple things like that were pulled out and carefully moved to the side for now so that Dedennechad more room to keep searching.
"... Nenne..."
Dedenne then pulled out the one thing we were both looking for. It was a little bit scratched and faded and it was clearly never taken care of, but it was still there. And one thing about it was standing out as clear as day, but for all the wrong reasons.
I just really hope that poor little Sophie doesn't know how to read...
