Poipole's Friend
(A/N: Some of you might recognise a certain character in this as an OC I've used in some Pokémon roleplays. I figured that since I love their complex backstory, I'd fit them in. I figured Poipole would be a great friend for them, too, since they're both so playful and excitable. Hope you like them!)
The group all ended up in a forest. Serena let Poipole out again while Clemont returned Abra. "Poi! Poi!" Poipole cheered excitedly, floating towards a bush. After a few moments, it whizzed out again, looking around.
"Poipole, what's going on?" Serena asked. "Poi!" It grinned, pointing, then it flew off in that direction. They all followed it curiously.
Soon they saw a large, flowery clearing by a sparkling lake. It was beautiful. And there, in the middle of it all, was an Eevee, dancing happily around and around.
"C-Clemont?"
Everyone looked to Bonnie, who was just waking up. "Where are we? What happened? I only remember brushing Braixen, and then... now we're in a forest?"
"You... Uh... we decided to get some fresh air, you fell asleep on the way," Clemont came up with an excuse, looking at the others with pleading eyes. He clearly didn't want Bonnie to know what had happened.
"Uh, yeah," Serena hesitantly backed up his lie. "But be quiet. Look at that Eevee over there! It's like when I first met Sylveon!"
They all looked back to the dancing Eevee, who's smile was wide and clear. "Aw, it's so cute!" Bonnie whispered. "Look at it dance!"
Suddenly, Poipole came into view, rushing at the Eevee. "Poi!" It called out excitedly, then scooped the Eevee up in a hug. The Eevee yelped, startled, but then giggled and hugged Poipole back.
"This might be why Poipole brought us here," Ash realised. "It's friends with that Eevee!" "I guess you're right!" Serena nodded, smiling at the two Pokémon.
"Poi!" Poipole said, placing the Eevee back down. "Poi Poi Poi! Poi Poi! Poi?"
"Eevee? Vee, Eevee Ee?" The Eevee asked, cocking their head.
"Poi Poi!" Poipole nodded. "Poi? Poiiiiiiiiiiiii?"
"Eevee Vee Vee Eevee!" The Eevee grinned, nodding.
"Poi!" Poipole cheered, then the two friends hugged once again before Poipole flew back over to the group, the Eevee following.
The Eevee froze when it saw them all.
Poipole flew over to Bonnie's bag and looked inside. "Poi?" It called. Squishy stuck it's head out, tilting it curiously.
"Poi Poi Poi? Poi Poi?" Poipole asked Squishy, to which the Zygarde nodded. Poipole wanted me to tell you that this is its friend Sophie and that she agreed to help us, Squishy announced with Telepathy, freaking May out as she was preciously the only one who hadn't heard Squishy's Telepathy before.
"Thanks for the help, Sophie!" Ash grinned to the little Eevee, kneeling down to pet her. Sophie quickly flinched away from his hand as though she'd been hurt. Getting the message, Ash backed up again. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare ya."
"That's a lot like Sylveon, too," Serena remembered how shy the Eevee has been when they first met. Upon hearing the word 'Sylveon', Sophie looked at Serena curiously.
"You can meet Sylveon, if you'd like," Serena smiled, tossing Sylveon out. "Veon!" she greeted Sophie, who looked at her in awe.
"Yeah, let's let everyone out!" Ash said to the others. Pikachu hopped off his shoulder.
All the Pokémon were then sent out. Sophie looked around at them all, excitement filling her big brown eyes.
Something else was in the eyes of a certain Grass type.
Chespin came over to Sophie. "Pin Pin Ches!" He greeted eagerly, causing Sophie to look over to him. "Eevee!" She smiled at him, her fluffy tail wagging like an over-excited puppy dog's.
"There goes Chespin again," Bonnie shook her head. "I think he has a thing for Eevees." "At least Sophie doesn't seem to mind too much," May said, watching Sophie greet all the other Pokémon as though this was a regular occurrence for her. "She seems really friendly."
Suddenly Chespin's stomach growled, making Sophie giggle. She then ran off, gesturing for them all to follow. "Vee!"
Chespin and Poipole were instantly rushing after her. The others all laughed and followed suit.
It didn't take long for Sophie to get where she was going; a grove filled with berry bushes. "Wow!" Serena looked around. "I could bake so many Poképuffs with all these!"
Sophie hurried over to an Oran berry bush and ate a berry happily, then picked another one and gave it to Chespin, who turned bright red. He then started hugging Sophie. She giggled and hugged him back.
"Aw, they're so cute!" Bonnie squealed, watching them. "They're already such great friends! I wanna get hugged by Sophie, too!"
She hurried over to them both, but Sophie scurried back a bit, scared. Poipole floated over to her, trying to calm its friend down. Bonnie stopped, frowning. "Oh, sorry, Sophie. I just wanted a hug."
"I think Sophie's pretty scared of Trainers," Clemont realised. Sophie and Poipole both nodded, then Poipole lead Sophie over to Bonnie slowly. Sophie gently nuzzled Bonnie's leg, still visibly scared, but trusting Poipole's faith in these humans.
Surprised but happy, Bonnie knelt down by Sophie and gently petted her. Sophie froze while Bonnie did this, but didn't run away. Poipole continued to encourage her.
But poor Sophie couldn't last long and was soon backing away again. "Poi!" Poipole praised her efforts, to which she smiled weakly.
"She may be scared, but at least she's trying!" May smiled at Sophie. "You did great!"
Sophie grinned at May, then went around the berry bushes, picking out specific ones and giving them to the group's Pokémon. Serena picked plenty of the berries as well, deciding to make Poképuffs with them when she next had the chance.
"I'll have to make a special one for Sophie to thank her," she said to Ash as they both watched all the Pokémon enjoying their snacks. "She's being so nice, especially since she's afraid of us and we dropped in out of nowhere. After all that, she's still letting us stay and she's already taking care of everyone."
"Yeah, she's great!" Ash nodded in agreement. "But do you think she likes Chespin back or not? I can't tell."
"You think Chespin likes Sophie?" Serena asked in surprise. She wasn't surprised by the thought, of course she knew, she was surprised that Ash realised, too.
"Serena, even I'm not that dense," Ash chuckled, pointing to Chespin, who was staring at Sophie as she trotted around with a smile on her face.
