Chapter 44: The Agrument
Zeb and Ezra were arguing one day in the kitchen and The crew were about to break it up but when they walked in, they were too late.
"I'm not a coward, your a coward. Read my lips. You. Are. A. Coward. You ran while your parents suffered. You left them while you ran away. You truly are a DIRTY LITTLE LOTHRAT!" Zeb yelled in Ezra's face. Ezra stepped back as his face fell into a frown and a tear slipped down his face. He look at Zeb right in the eyes and said "Your right... I'm a coward. I ran after I watched my parents die. I've been beaten, abused, whipped, enslaved, starved, and jumped countlessly times in front of people but I'm still coward in everyone's eyes. So I'm sorry I have been in your way with my dirty self." Every bodies eyes grew wide as Ezra said his speech. As tears streamed down his face, he grabbed a knife off the counter and left the room before anyone could say anything. They stood there for a minute before Kanan ran out of the room.
Kanan ran and ran till he saw Ezra's Tower. He looked up at it and slightly felt Ezra's signature in there. He quickly ran up the ladder, afraid his fears came true. He ran up to the door but it wouldn't open. He sighed and closed his eyes, focusing on the force. The door quickly opened. He ran in and gasped as his fears came true.
On the floor in front of him, was a pale and bloody Ezra. He saw a knife in one hand and his other wrist cut open deeply. He ran and got down on his knees. Kanan pulled the limp body into his lap and held two fingers to his neck.
'Thump... Thump.... Thump'
Kanan sighed in relief and picked him up from the metal ground. He bridal carried him all the way to the Ghost.
The crew were waiting on the ramp for him when they saw a distanced shape. They gasped in shock and fear as they saw the pale and bloody Ezra in his arms. Kanan ran past them and Hera went after him. Sabine and Zeb stood shocked.
After a minute of shock, they ran after the others and ran into the Med Bay. Ezra was lying down on the bed with monitors and tubes everywhere and a mask over his mouth and nose. Kanan and Hera were running around like Black Friday gathering more things. Sabine focused on the constant beeping but suddenly there was none.
Hera gasped and grabbed the crash cart. She quickly grabbed the paddles of the defibrillator and counted. "Three, two, one! Clear!" She shocked him once but had no pulse.
She continued for ten minutes still having no pulse. She opened her mouth just about to declare but suddenly a beeping filled the tense air. All left loose a breath they didn't know we're holding. Hera quickly put away the paddles and traded it for a stitch kit. Rolling up his sleeve, all saw was blood. She grabbed a wet clothe and dabbed it on the skin, riding it of the thick solution. After she was able to see the pale skin, she gasped in shock as she saw the real reason behind his sleeves.
Rows upon rows of scars littered his arm. They others went to her side and saw the damage. They all gasped but all she did was sigh and grab the needle and thread. Slowly threading the needle through his skin, she said to the others "Why were you fighting in the first place?" Zeb was startled by the question but replied "I was telling him one of my stories from Lasan in which my friend fell into a river trying to retrieve his food on patrol and he said he was acting stupid so I got mad at him." She looked at him with a pointed glare and said "That is stupid. You don't go fishing for food. Now look at the damage you caused. Ezra, a kid who has worse pasts then all of us, is laying on my table, half dead." Zeb's ears folded back and he looked down in shame.
Hera continued to stitch in silence, no one daring to speak. After she was done, she picked up her mess and grabbed a syringe and bottle. She quickly filled it up to a half mark and stuck it in Ezra's neck, making him stiffen and then relax. He sighed and his body went lax completely. Hera smiled gently and unhooked the rest of his machines and his IV. She grabbed him under his legs and shoulders, picking him off the table. She had a surprised face but said "Ezra's moving in with Kanan so you can keep an eye on him" Kanan nodded. Hera nodded in reply and maneuvered her way out of the Med Bay.
She quickly went through the halls of the Ghost, landing at Kanan's door. She opened the metal door and wen to the bunk. She laid down her light crew member on the top bunk, taking a blanket from the bottom one. He snuggled down into the blanket and Hera smiled.
She went to the living room, finding everyone there. They all looked towards her and she looked at each and everyone in the eye. "We all will keep an eye on him. If he even remotely looks depressed, you will send him to either me, Kanan, or his room which is also in Kanan's. We don't want a relapse of this happening so let's follow this simple rule. Any questions?" Everyone shook their heads in 'no' as a reply. She nodded and walked out to the cockpit.
Sitting down in her chair, she moved around buttons and levers but she wasn't paying any mind to this. She was thinking instead
'Why didn't we see it sooner? He was showing all the signs! But no matter, everyone is protecting him now. He's got a family now, even if he doesn't know it.'
