A/N The outfit in the picture is obviously not the one described in the story, but I wanted to show y'all my gorgeous necklace. ;P
-Nina's POV-
As I waltzed through the school doors, I nodded to a friend before making my way to the bathrooms, smirking at everyone who paused to glance my way. Really, who cared about them though? I was here for one person only, and her name was Meg. Today I was gonna make my move, so naturally I actually planned my outfit instead of just picking something up from the floor, and I'd even brushed my hair.
Pushing open the door, I was secretly glad to see that it wasn't crowded like normal. Now I could brush my teeth one last time and check my outfit in peace. As confident as I felt, I was pretty sure I'd die if my breath smelled like cheese when I asked Meg out. Dumping my stuff next to the sink, I quickly double-brushed my teeth then reapplied chapstick. I hated how quickly my lips chapped, especially in the winter. Stepping back, I inspected my outfit in the mirror.
I had picked out a pair of low-slung jeans that rode comfortably on my hips, with a brown belt that circled my hips twice, a pink croptop that I'd DIYed a while back, my new chandelier necklace, and my fitted black jacket. And of course my lucky black fedora. I needed all the luck I could get to convince a *mostly* straight girl to go out with me. I sighed, letting myself wonder for a moment how on earth I was going to do this. What if she said no?
And then I realized: What if she said yes? Then I'd finally have the girl I'd been crushing on for months, and not only that, it would be awesome to know that I could convert a *mostly* straight girl.
Having gained my confidence back, I looked up and grinned at the mirror, only to feel an arm slide around my shoulders as I saw Liz in the mirror. "Big day planned?" She asked, grinning. I turned and winked at her. "You know it." I told her. "I'm going to ask Meg out today." She smirked and bumped her hip against mine, making me smile. "Good luck, tiger." She gave my shoulder a squeeze and released me, walking towards the door. Just before she left, she turned around and made the weirdest face. Laughing, I returned the gesture. "I get to be the first one to assess your girlfriend!" She called over her shoulder.
I sighed and shook my head. Assess nothing; Liz had encouraged me to go after Meg since the day I told her I had feelings for her. Taking a deep breath, I took one last look in the mirror and smiled. I could do this. Repeating that in my head, I pushed open the door and headed outside. I knew I only had two chances at doing this without an audience: before school or after. I wasn't sure which would be better, so I'd decided to wing it. Yeah, that's great logic, Nina. Laughing to myself at how silly that was, I began my search.
