3rd POV
The clock on the wall ticked with a merciless cadence, each second echoing like a hammer striking against her chest. Reika sat in the dimly lit room, surrounded by shadows that danced in eerie synchrony with the turmoil in her mind. She hugged her knees close to her chest, seeking solace in the familiar embrace of darkness.
Outside, the world buzzed with life, oblivious to the silent agony that consumed her. But inside the confines of her apartment, she was alone, suffocating beneath the weight of memories too painful to bear.
It had been six months since she left-a hasty departure fueled by whispered arguments and unspoken truths. She remembered the way her lover's eyes had hardened, the finality in her voice as she uttered those damning words: "I can't do this anymore."
The wounds she left behind were still raw, festering with the venom of shattered dreams and broken promises. Reika had tried to move on, to fill the void she had left with distractions and fleeting moments of pleasure. But her absence lingered like a specter, haunting her every thought, every breath.
Like so many nights before, Reika found herself drowning in memories, each one a dagger aimed at the fragile remnants of her shattered heart. She closed her eyes, willing herself to forget, but her lover's face lingered in the darkness, etched into the fabric of her being.
She could still feel the warmth of her touch, the gentle caress of her fingers against her skin. She could still hear the echoes of her laughter, the way it had filled the room with joy and light. But now, those memories were tainted with the bitterness of regret, a bitter reminder of all that had been lost.
Reika reached for the photograph on the bedside table, her fingers trembling as they traced the outline of her lover's face. In the faded image, she smiled back at her, her eyes alight with a warmth Reika feared she would never feel again. She pressed the photograph to her chest, clinging to it like a lifeline in a sea of despair.
Outside, the city buzzed with life, the sound of laughter and music mingling with the distant hum of traffic. But in Reika's world, there was only silence-a suffocating, oppressive silence that threatened to consume her whole.
She had tried to fill the void her lover had left with work, throwing herself into her job with a fervor bordering on obsession. But no matter how many hours she spent buried beneath piles of paperwork, her absence remained, a constant reminder of all that had been lost.
And so she sat in the darkness, her heart laid bare, mourning a love that had slipped through her fingers like sand. She had thought they were meant to be together, that their love was strong enough to weather any storm. But now, she was alone, adrift in a sea of emptiness, with nothing but memories to keep her company.
The tears came then, hot and bitter against her cheeks, as she surrendered to the pain that threatened to consume her whole. She cried until there were no more tears left to shed, until she was left hollow and empty, a shell of the woman she used to be.
But amidst the despair, there was something else-a whisper of darkness that coiled around her heart, filling her with a possessive longing she could not shake. For the first time in a long time, Reika felt something new.
As the night wore on, Reika's mind devolved into madness and sinister plans. She couldn't bear the thought of living without her lover, of letting her slip through her fingers like sand. She had to have her back, no matter the cost. And this time Evelynn would never escape her grasp.
With a chilling determination, Reika began to form a plan-a twisted web of deceit and manipulation designed to lure her lover back into her arms. She would stop at nothing to make her hers again, to possess her completely, mind, body and soul.
Outside, the world continued to turn, oblivious to the silent agony that gripped her heart. But inside the confines of her apartment, a storm was brewing-a storm of obsession and madness that threatened to consume everything in its path.
And as the first light of dawn crept through the window, Reika's resolve hardened. She would have her lover back, willing or not. And woe betide anyone who stood in her way.
In the dead of night, Reika would take back what belonged rightfully to her. She would have to teach her pet a lesson for trying to escape her. This time no amount of begging would stop her from claiming what was hers.
"Keep on running my little one, because soon I'll make sure you won't be able to for week~"
