Medlinniel was sitting in a tree near the palace gates when the dwarves arrived. They had been found lurking in the forest, they claimed to be traveling through Mirkwood, but King Thranduil thought otherwise.

Medlinniel jumped down out of the tree and raced into the palace. She entered the throne room, making sure to stay out of sight. She hid behind a pillar, watching the Elven-King interrogate the dwarves.

She thought most of them were rather unattractive, except one caught her eye. He was short, well that was a given, and he had shoulder-length black hair, his eyes were dark and he look well-traveled.

He is rather handsome, for a dwarf, she blushed at the thought of it. She couldn't ever be a dwarf. Her people would not permit it.

Yet as the days passed all she could think of was the dwarf. She finally resolved to go down to the dungeons and see him. She snuck down into the dungeons, the dwarves were asleep. Carefully, she made her way to his cell.

She started to pick the lock. In doing so she woke him up, he looked at her startled. She put a finger to her lips.

When she got the door open she beckoned for him to come out, cautiously and slowly he stepped towards her.

She led him up to the main floor, then out the servants entrance. She took him to a small, secluded clearing in the forest near the palace. It was her favorite spot in Mirkwood.

"Why did you bring me here?" The dwarf asked.

Medlinniel smiled. "You seem nice, for a dwarf,"

He smirked. "My name is Kili,"

"Nice to meet you, Kili," she responded. "My name is Medlinniel.

He chuckled and sat down on a rock. Medlinniel sat next to him. They sat in silence for several moments, the Kili turned to her.

"I suppose I should thank you for bringing me here," he said quietly.

She bowed her head. "You do not need to thank me-"

He cut her off, placing a soft kiss on her lips. After a few seconds she pulled away, shocked.

He looked at her, embarrassed. "I'm sorry, I should not have done that,"

She shook her head. "No, Kili, I do not mind,"

He smiled at her and they stood up. Slowly and silently they walked back to the palace.
