Larien/Thranduil

This is for WitchDoctor21 hope you like it!

The pale sunlight filtered through the trees, casting eerie beams of light throughout the dark forest. Larien sighed as she walked along the stream with her horse. The mare raised her head to look at her. Larien rubbed the horse's soft nose and started to walk back to the palace.

She gave the reins of her horse to a guard and walked into the palace. She made her way to the throne room but found it empty, save for a few guards. She looked down shaking her head. Her husband, the Elvenking Thranduil, had been neglecting his duties as ruler. Larien found herself taking over the roles as both a king and a queen. She couldn't blame her husband, he was grieving the loss of his son.

Legolas wasn't dead, he had left for Valinor after King Elissar (correct me if i'm wrong but that is what the elves called Aragorn right?) had died and the crown passed on to his son. Thranduil knew he would never see his son again, so it would be just as hard if Legolas had died.

Larien walked through the maze that was Thranduil's Hall, until she came to a room that was in a secluded part of the palace. She gently pushed the door open and sure enough she saw her husband sitting on a chair besides the window.

"Thranduil?" Larien called out softly. He turned and looked at her. She could see the sadness in her eyes. It pained Larien to see him this way. She stepped over to him and he pulled her onto his lap, wrapping his arms around her. She rested her head on his chest and he sighed.

She looked up at him, brushing a hand against his cheek. "Melamin, you are hurt,"

He frowned and stroked her hair. "Your heart is hurt, Thranduil,"

He looked away, his eyes downcast, she heard him mutter "My son,"

"You cannot let your sadness overcome you," she said. "Your heart will heal,"

He shook his head, unconvinced. She ran her hand through his hair and he looked at her. "I will help you, Thranduil, you are not alone,"

He kissed her forehead and she smiled, she looked up at him and he smiled back.
