Alex Rider : Another Way To Be Discovered (1)
A boring school day. What could happen during an assembly? Nothing bad, surely.
So, another Alex Rider story, huh? Yep! Another way to be *majestic music* DISCOVERED!! Okay, maybe we should get into this....
Alex sighed. It was boring. It was Chemistry. It was - okay, no more words.
Alex leant back in his seat, waiting for when the lesson would be over. He sneaked a glance at the clock, inwardly groaning when he saw that it was a full hour until the end of the lesson. School seemed so - so mundane compared to his life out of it. Though Alex was glad that he did, at least, have some normality left in his life. MI6 seemed to have taken most of the normal things in his life and thrown them away. In the bin. Where they had been picked up by people and taken to a yard, where it was then destroyed forever.
Okay, so maybe he was thinking a little too much into this 'MI6 destroyed his normality in the weirdest way possible' thing, but at least it passed the time. There was now only (quick check at the clock), fifty minutes left! Wow, he'd been thinking about MI6 ruining his life for ten minutes? That just showed how much they had ruined it.
Alex changed his thoughts to the assembly that was happening straight after this lesson [1]. It was a strange time to be having an assembly, right in the middle of the day and on a Wednesday. Usually his assemblies were on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, so it must be something important. Of course, Brookland School had sometimes had assemblies on Wednesdays, when important people came there, when it was extremely hot (which didn't happen often, especially on a Wednesday) and for another reason that Alex couldn't quite remember.
Finally, only ten minutes left! Alex smiled, then immediately schooled his expression into the emotionless one he usually always wore.
That was a strange thing about Alex Rider. He never showed his emotions, not the boredom from Maths, not the fearlessness when he was attacking his enemies, not even the scared feeling he felt when his enemies (usually Scorpia) captured him. He refused to show - as he called it - weakness, it would just show the he was, in fact, a fourteen year old boy who was blackmailed into being a spy. Which he was. By the supposed 'good guys'.
Well, Alex thought to himself, I suppose that MI6 aren't all bad, otherwise they wouldn't of tried to stop Sayle, or Grief, or Sarov, or Cray, actually, I went after Cray myself! Though, that just shows that even though I refuse to think that I'm a spy, it's in my blood. I hate it. I did go after Scorpia myself as well, though MI6 made me go back to them when I just ESCAPED them!
Alex dwelled in his thoughts for a few more minutes, until the teacher interrupted them by saying, "The lesson is over, pack up your things and line up by the door for assembly, please."
Of course, everyone, other than Alex, immediately packed their stuff up, wanting to be near their friends for the assembly. Alex didn't really care, his only real friend was Tom and he always went to the back, so Alex just there.
"So, what d'you think the assembly will be about?" Tom asked curiously. Alex resisted the urge to face palm, even though he was a spy, that didn't mean he knew every little thing!
"I don't know, mate, I just don't know," Alex answered. Tom mock-gasped.
"The great Alex Rider doesn't know what the assembly is? The world must be ending!" he exclaimed, exaggerating.
Alex shoved him, "Shut up, Tom," he whispered, "You've got to be quiet. The be -teacher's glaring at you."
He had to hold himself back from saying 'beaks'. Keeping up the old 'bad boy' cover at Point Blanc had really taken a toll on him, meaning that he had to force himself not to say 'beaks' instead of teachers.
Alex's class went down to the hall, where the assembly would take place. All the students in there were, surprisingly, staying quiet. Though, who wouldn't be surprised when they saw a pop star on the stage! Alex couldn't recall the name of the pop star, that just showed how much of the real world he had missed whilst being on missions, but he knew that he was popular. Extremely popular, in fact, if he could make the entire school be silent by just being there.
For some reason, Mr Bray looked unusually flustered. Alex supposed it was because there was a world-famous pop star sitting next to him.
The guy stood up and said, while flashing a smile, "Hello, everybody. I am glad to be welcomed to this school to be talking about..."
Alex tuned out the guy's voice and thought, instead, of an email he had gotten a few days ago. It had been from an unknown number, yet Alex knew it was from Scorpia. Who else would keep a grudge against a fourteen year old boy? Scorpia were the only international criminal organisation that (well, for one, the only international criminal organisation that Alex had met) would bother finding a teenagers email address to send them an email.
Just then, Alex's phone vibrated in his pocket. As he was sitting near the back, it would be easy to extract the phone from his pocket and see what he had got. As well as the fact that Alex was a spy, so no one should notice if he was a good spy. Which he was. An extremely good one, in fact. A great one, even!
Alex took his phone out of his pocket and quickly read the old email he had gotten, before reading the new one, to see if they would add up.
To: Alex Rider
Beware.
From: Unknown
That was the old one. It gave Alex an ominous feeling, as though it was warning him. Which it was. Warning him that he should be careful, wouldn't want Scorpia to attack him when he wasn't ready. Alex quickly read the second one, so he could slip his phone back in his pocket and pretend that he hadn't been ignoring the speech by a worldwide celeb.
To: Alex Rider
Scorpia never forgives. Scorpia never forgets.
From: Unknown
That just meant Alex was right. It was from Scorpia, both messages were. Now all he had to do was slip his phone back into his pocket and-
Before he could finish his thought, about thirty masked men in black clothes entered the hall. All the children were screaming, the adults were trying to calm them down, the pop star was panicking, thinking that the men were coming for him, as he was the only (well, the only known) famous person in the room, the teenagers were panicking as well, not wanting to die. Other than Alex Rider. He simply took his phone back out of his pocket and phoned someone called 'Never Ring', who was, of course, Alan Blunt and Tulip Jones.
Mrs Jones answered the call, "Yes, Agent Rider?"
Alex was glad that the phone wasn't on speaker and that he had a talent for not speaking loudly (better than what his classmates can do). "Mrs Jones, this was the emergency call, I would like it if you came to the school now!" He ignored the fact that he was called Agent Rider, choosing to call Jones up about that another time.
"Of course, Rider, but why?" Mrs Jones asked.
Alex rolled his eyes, "There's an emergency at my school, most likely Scorpia after me, now come!"
Mrs Jones said, "Alright, Rider, we'll be there in forty minutes, try and hold them off until we can come."
Alex hung up on her without saying goodbye, as a masked man started speaking. "We are Scorpia. We never forgive and we never forget. So, we will never forgive someone here and we will never forget him until he is dead."
Alex started to stand up, but the man started speaking again, "I am Caleb and I am here for Alex Rider."
Alex once again started to stand up, until someone (most likely in his class) shouted, "What do you want with druggie?"
Tom stood up and yelled, "He is not a druggie! He's been helping you! So shut you face!"
Alex tried to stand up, but only succeeded in pulling Tom down, as Caleb started speaking again, "Rider, come to the front or watch your friends die."
Caleb took a young girl at the front (Alex believed her name was Madison) and put his gun against her head. "Come on, Alex. Don't you want to save this little girl from death? I suppose you aren't as kind-hearted as people say..."
Alex finally stood up, glared at Tom when he tried to stop him and said loudly, "Why don't you bother looking for me yourself? It'd sure be much easier."
The entire school gasped as one when Alex strode up the front fearlessly.
Okay, part one, finished! Look out for part two!
