Prom Night
Sometimes, you will never know the
true value of a moment until
it becomes a memory.

I pull on my tie to make sure it's tight enough before spraying some nice cologne on my body. I check my light brown quiff in the mirror and then open my bathroom door. I walk out and grab my phone from my night stand. After grabbing my wallet and keys, I walk out of my room and down the spiral staircase.

There was a knock on the door as the smooth wood of the railing ran under my finger tips. My mom appeared in the hallway after coming out from the kitchen and opened the door. A smile tugged at my lips as Jason stood there in his black suit. Our blazers, slacks, and undershirts were black while our ties were red.

A huge smile spread across his face as his icy blue eyes met my chocolate ones. His honey blonde hair was slicked back, making him look older than what he actually is. I'm very lucky to have this man in front of me.

"Hey there beautiful."

My cheeks burn at his greeting as my mom smiles big. He walks through the doorway before coming over to my side and pecking my cheek. My mom immediately whips her phone out for pictures.

"Say cheese!"
"Cheeese."

We both smile wide as he wraps his arm around my shoulder and I cuddle into his side. A few more pictures are taken, considering my mom loves printing them out and putting them in frames. There are a few of me by myself and then Jason by himself, the others being more of us together.

"Have him back by 11, Jason."

He nods at my mother before interlocking our fingers. We make our way out the door and into his car full of our best friends. Marie was first to stretch over to the front seat and hug me from behind. We've been best friends for years and really, nobody will ruin that.

"Hey bestie!" She squealed causing me to laugh. Jason smiled widely and I look at him with my eyebrow raised. "Your laugh is music to my ears." He says, causing me to blush hard when my cheeks just returned to their normal shade. Everybody cooed at us before we stared driving.

Colorful lights were pouring out of the door as we opened it, music blasting throughout the gymnasium. Crowds of people surrounded us and the smell of sweat as well as food filled my nostrils. Marie ran over to an empty table and sat in a chair, Chris and Jacqueline following suit.

Yes, Marie is here as a single person but she has all of us. Chris and Jacqueline aren't ones to leave her out. Jason and I have tried to get her to dance with us but she always says we need our time. Apparently the other's don't matter.

The night started off with fast songs which we all got into a group for and started messing around. We Found Love came on, causing us to dance at a normal pace.

The song played as we all laughed at Chris who was being the dork he is. His green eyes were even brighter in the dark. Is he Green Lantern? Sometimes, I wonder if that's his favorite hero. My favorite is Batman, nobody being able to change that.

More songs played as lights flashed. Prom King and Queen were just about to be announced so the music went quiet and everybody stopped their dancing. One of the student council members, Alyssa, stepped onto the stage and tapped the mic. "The votes are in, ladies and gentlemen." There was a drumroll from one of the marching band snare drummers before the King was announced.

"The 2018 Raisbeck Aviation High School prom King is...Jason McCann!"

Everybody in our friend group, jaws dropped and eyes wide, watched as Jason made his way up to the stage and accepted his crown. "Now, the prom Queen, or shall I say other prom King, is..."

I was wondering who it was, knowing it isn't likely wasn't me. Nobody really knew me nor liked me. These people by my side have been with me since elementary. "Justin Bieber!" I choked on my saliva as my name was called. Marie pushed me towards the stage and got my legs moving. Cheeks flushed, and head down, I accept my crown..

I feel Jason's finger against my chin before he lifts my head up. "The prom Kings, everybody!" Jason took my hand and we bowed before moving down to the floor for our dance. Say You Won't Let Go by James Arthur came on as Jason rested his hands on my hips. I immediacy wrapped my arms around his neck and looked into his beautiful orbs.

We pressed our foreheads together as everyone else joined in with a partner. Marie bumped into her crush, Rylie, before asking for a dances. He agreed and set his hands on her hips once they made their way towards us. I smiled at her and smiled back.

"You're so beautiful." I heard Jason say. A smile broke out of my lips and I look him in the eyes once more.

Our faces got closer, lips almost brushing. I could feel his minty breath fanning my face

He closed the gap and our lips moved in sync. No tongue, just a passionate kiss that showed each other how we felt. Love and adoration is what Jason is showing me. We pull away and rest our foreheads together once more.

And I'll thank my lucky stars for that night

"I will love you forever and always, Jay."
My heart fluttered as he said that. "I love you so much, Jase." I say back. The rest of the night was full of laughter and fun dances.
