T/W: Homophobic Slurs, Inferred Sexual Harrassment.

*Titania's Pov*

"C'mon babe, it's just up the road" I promised my girlfriend. I spun the steering wheel and the car crunched into the driveway.

"You said that ten minutes ago!" She complained. I sighed.

"I'm telling the truth this time, I swear."

"Better be," She grumbled, squishing down into her seat. She huffed exasperatedly and mumbled something unintelligible into her sweatshirt. I smiled at her and she stuck her tongue out at me.

"Aww, don't be like that! See, we're here!" I told her. Hippolyta pouted.

I eased off the gas, pausing by a small ticket booth. A familiar face looked through the glass.

"Hey Mitch! Two please," I told him. Mitch smiled. He handed me the tickets and waved me off.

"I have to pay!" I protested. Mitch shook his head, smiling.

"Don't argue with the owner! Besides, your mom would skin me alive if she knew I made you pay. Now go!" Mitch waved as I drove away.

"Can you tell me where we are yet?" Hippolyta asked, poking her head out of the open window. I yanked her back inside.

"I told you not to look! Get your head back inside the car!" I scolded. Hippolyta ignored me, glancing out the window again.

"I think I know where we are!" She gasped suddenly. I raised an eyebrow.

"It's a drive-in movie theater, isn't it? 'Tania you know how much I like drive in movie theaters!" She squealed, face lit up with excitement. I let out an exaggerated sigh and smiled.

"You got me," I conceded. Hip yelled out a triumphant "Yes!" as I pulled into a parking spot. I turned towards my girlfriend who was doing a small victory dance in her seat, completely oblivious to the rest of the world.

It was adorable.

"Babe, do you want to come with to get snacks?" I asked her. She nodded, abandoning the dance and unbuckling her seatbelt.

She practically skipped the entire walk to the snack bar. Her excitement was infectious.

"Do you think they'll have old fashioned snacks too? Like cola in the glass bottles? I've always wanted to try that!" She gushed, grabbing my hand and running up the steps of the building.

A bell chimed as we walked in.

Hip threaded her fingers through mine properly when we entered the shop. I smiled, ignoring the few odd looks that the gesture earned us. People would always be assholes, there was nothing I could do to change it.

"I hope so! That'd be cool! I've heard the glass makes it taste different." I replied. Hippolita was beaming, her smile radiant.

"I think that's just a myth. But, in any case, it doesn't matter! This place is perfect already. Thank you so much for bringing me here, babe, I love it!"

"Of course darling," I said, squeezing her hand.

"That's just vile! Absolutely disgusting, forcing their ungodly ways upon us normal people!"

I heard the whispers and whipped around.

There was an older woman behind me with disgust written clearly across her face. The look on her face created a sinking feeling in my stomach.  Another woman stood next to her, mirroring the expression.

I turned back to my girlfriend. She let go of my hand, obviously hoping to avoid confrontation. I took a step to the side, creating an obvious, and frankly uncomfortable distance between the two of us.

"Honestly, the diseases on those people! They shouldn't be allowed in the public! You remember the AIDS epidemic, don't you Marjorie?" The second woman blathered to her friend.

Shame built in my throat and an angry blush spread across my cheeks. I hoped that neither of the woman behind me could see it.

"Don't listen to them, Hip," I whispered. Hip glanced at me with a steely expression and nodded.

It was our turn at the counter. Hippolyta ordered for us and then yanked me to me to the side of the counter.

"You heard what happened back there," she said. It wasn't a question. I nodded, annoyed at the blush that was still present on my cheeks.

"You know what we're gonna do?" She asked me. I shrugged, head ducked.

"We're going to go back to the car, eat an obscene amount of popcorn, and have a good time!" She smiled, giving my shoulder a reassuring squeeze.

"Yeah, you're right. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to let them get to me," I mumbled.

"Order for Hippolyta!" A woman's voice called. My girlfriend turned towards the counter and grabbed an armload of snacks, smiling triumplantly.

"Let's do this!" She declared, marching towards the back door. I scooped a container of popcorn and some sodas out of her arms.

"Let's also be safe about it! We don't want to drop out snacks!" I said. Hip shrugged.

"I had it, you know!" She pouted, shifting the boxes of candy around in her grip. One tumbled from her arms and rolled into the grass a few feet away. I could barely see where it landed. It was a lot darker behind the building. I squinted, trying to make out the box again. Eventually I spotted it and picked it up.

"Sure you did," I replied sarcastically, sliding the box of candy into my arms.

I wasn't sure why Hip wanted to walk this way, we'd have to take the back paths. It'd be harder to find the car as we'd have to start at the front of the parking lot, but I shrugged it off.

"There's no need for the sass, ma'am,"

"Eh, I dispute that statement," I told her. She didn't reply, opting to hip-check me instead.

"What movie are we seeing, anyways?" She asked me, effectively changing the subject.

"That," I said. "is a surprise."

"C'mon babe, there's already been a ton of surprises tonight! Just tell me!" I shook my head.

Hippolyta sighed, leaning her head onto my shoulder.

I looked over to her, smiling and almost ran into something.

There was a set of bleachers in front of us. People rarely used them, opting to watch the movies from the comfort of their cars. Besides, the bleachers were super far away from the screen. You could barely hear anything out here.

"Jesus, that was close!" I laughed, keeping several feet between me and the metal poles. Hip walked beside me.

"Oh my god! Dude, look at that, lesbians! That's sick!"

Not again. Can't we go five minutes without this shit?

A group of boys sauntered up to us. (You can't use sauntered often, but seeing as I was there, the way these douchebags walked definitely qualified as a 'saunter').

"Hey babygirl," one of them said, putting his forearm on my shoulder.

I didn't say anything. Hip glared at the guy. I wasn't sure where this was going, but I didn't like it.

"Hey, how about you fuck off?" Hip asked him, throwing her snacks down and shoving the guy's hand off my shoulder.

"Ooh, a feisty one, I like it!" Another one crowed. I felt an arm entwine with my waist, too long too be my girlfriend's. I attempted to wiggle from the guy's grasp but couldn't. I turned around.

"Touch me again and I'll call the police," I warned the guy. He pouted.

"Aww babe, that's no way to treat a man!" He said. His face was close enough to mine that I could smell his breath.

He was sober. In several ways that was worse.

I glanced over to the others. Hip was nearly surrounded, a group of guys edging closer to her every second. She looked like she was about to cry.

I was seething.

"Stay away from her!" I yelled.

"Who's gonna stop us, you?" The guy holding me laughed. Another set of hands grabbed my shoulders and someone else wrapped their arms around my knees. The snacks in my arms were long forgotten. They tumbled to the ground.

I kicked at the hand that had snaked up my thigh, but the person dodged it. My movements were very constricted. I attempted to squirm out of their grasp, but they squeezed me tighter.

"You came here for a movie, right honey? Well, sit tight. My friends are going to give you quite the show."

"Hip, run!" I yelled to my girlfriend. There was a loud thud and a scraping sound. I heard Hippolyta scream. The sound made my blood run cold.

"Mitch! MITCH! Help!" I screamed, even though I thought it was pretty fruitless.

The guy holding my shoulders covered my mouth with a hand. I bit it, hard.

"Ouch, fuck!" He exclaimed, pulling it away.

Hip screamed again, and I whirled my head around so fast I was surprised I didn't get whiplash.

"Sugar, look the show's starting," someone said. The guys dropped me to the ground roughly and twisted my arms behind my back.

I opened my mouth to yell again, when I felt something cold press against my throat.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you," the first guy said, pulling me up by my hair.

The knife pressed into my skin a little harder. I resisted the urge to swallow, and closed my mouth gently.

"Get your filthy hands off of me!" Hip yelled, struggling against a few guys. Someone yanked her sweatshirt off. I watched it hit the ground.

"Stop!" I yelled, ignoring the pressure on my throat that followed my words.

Hippolyta glanced at me, a tear trailing down her cheek. One of her shoes lay on the ground next to her hoodie.

"Run," She mouthed. I shook my head minutely. The grip on my arms tightened.

"I don't think so, little missy," someone said. I wasn't listening.

They hurt my girlfriend. I wasn't about to let them get away with that.

I did the only thing I could think of. I leaned back quickly, crushing the hands of the person holding me in place. The arms retracted and I grabbed the handle of the knife.

"Let go, and I won't cut you."

I kicked him where I knew it would hurt the most. He dropped the knife and scrambled away. I picked up the weapon and pointed it at them.

"I suggest you run," I told them.

"You won't hurt me," one of them said cockily. I raised an eyebrow.

"Oh yeah? Look at your friend over there, he's on the ground." I took a few steps closer to the group, pointing the knife at the leader.

"If you don't want to end up like him, I suggest you run," I told them. My voice shook a little, but I don't think they noticed.

"Let's go boys," one of them sighed. The boys sprinted back towards the parking lot.

I turned to Hippolyta. The group around her had dispersed, but it wasn't because of me.

Mitch stood nearby, a few of the boys standing sheepishly in his wake.

"If you ever come back to this place, I'll have you thrown in jail! You hear me?" He yelled. The boys nodded.

"Get out of here, now!" Mitch shouted, waving the group away. They practically fell over themselves sprinting away from him. Mitch could be pretty imposing if he wanted it to be.

"You two alright?" He asked gently.

My girlfriend jogged over and enveloped me in a hug.

"Oh my god, I thought they were going to kill you," she rasped. There was dirt on her face, and scrapes down her arms.

"But they said, t-they said they'd-" I started. Hippolyta cut me off.

"They didn't, okay? They're gone, and we're fine." She wrapped her arms around my neck and I tucked my face into her shoulder.

"I-I'm sorry. I should have warned you about the back route," I whispered. Hippolyta kissed my hair.

"It's not your fault. This is in no way your fault," she reassured me. I still felt guilty, I didn't want to ruin the date.

"I think some of the candy survived the fall," I sniffled. Hip smiled.

"That's my girl!" She said proudly.

"If I may interject," Mitch said. I turned to face him, confused.

"I think we owe you girls some free snacks," he said with a smile. I laughed.

"Now that," I began. "is a point that I won't argue!"

Hip grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the snack building.

"Molly's running the place, she'll get you all set up!" Mitch called after us.

"Thanks again, Mitch."

Later, we exited the snack building laden with more than enough snacks for the two of us. We practically had to run away from Molly before she could force more snacks into our hands.

"What movie is it?" Hippolyta asked for the second time. Before I could reply, Hip spotted the car and dragged me to it.

"It's The Matrix," I said, opening the door. I heard Hip let out a gleeful "Yes!" at the title. Smiling, I dumped the snacks onto the seat. After a moment of thought, I shoved the keys into the ignition and opened the sunroof.

"What are you doing?" Hip asked as I grabbed the blankets from the passenger's seat and clambered through the hole in the roof.

"Trust me," I answered, pulling her up with me.

On the roof, our view of the screen was unobstructed. I tossed Hippolyta a blanket and snuggled into her side.

"I love you," I whispered into her shoulder. I said the words so quietly I wasn't sure she'd hear me.

I hadn't said the words directly to her before, and frankly, I was a little nervous to do it. (I was more than a little nervous, not that I'd admit it.)

"I love you too, Titania," she whispered, turning around to face me. My cheeks were burning.

Before I could reply, Hippolyta leaned in and kissed me.

I leaned forward, cupping her cheek.

The movie started behind us, but I'm pretty sure that neither of us were paying attention.

A/N: Confession. This is definitely my favorite one shot so far, and I hope you guys like it as much as I do. I'm easing back on the angst (sort of) and I like the way this turned out! Plus, there are so many little things that I love about it.

Take for example, the location. I love drive-in movie theaters. If you've never been to one, you're really missing out. I suggest you drop everything right now and go.

Well that's all for now!

Love you, humans! Thanks for reading! Until next time, guys!
