Jack traced his fingers along Mark's cheek. "You're gonna be okay," he whispered. "Everything is going to be okay."

The wind whispered throughout the forest, the breeze ruffling Jack's hair. Blood stained the grass prickling through Mark's fingers.

Silence.

Why had they been chosen? There had been so many other people.. Yet they had been chosen, for the Hunger Games?

"I'm gonna die," Mark coughed, smiling sadly.

Jack's eyes blurred with tears. "Stop that!" He protested. "Y-you are not going to die, God damnit!"

Mark placed his hand on Jack's hand that was cradling his cheek. Oh, how he'd missed this after he was gone. "You better win for me,"

"We-we're gonna win together! You promised.. You can't b-break-break a promise.." He sobbed, his green dyed hair falling over his face.

The light was draining from his eyes now, a drop of blood trickled from his mouth.

"I, already.. Broke it.." Mark murmured, dozing off.

Jack patted Mark's cheeks. "H-hey there! Stay with me, stay with me! Come on!"

"I.. Love you... J.. ack.."

His breath hitched, "no, don't you fucking dare, you-you better not leave me- MARK! Mark you better stay with me God damnit, Mark-m-Mark! .. Hey..!"

Everything was crashing down around him, he didn't know what to think. He sobbed, picking up the bag that Mark was once carrying and muttering to himself as he fiddled around.

Eventually, he pulled out a sharp blade.

"I'll be with you, soon, Markimoo."

Jack didn't feel anything, but later, when a few people stumbled across the bodies, he was found holding Mark's hand, a knife in the other, with a large gash splitting his throat.
