Transcend
The bus suddenly stops and I bump my hard head on the seat infront of me. The pain immediately wakes up both my sleeping mind and body.
"Ouch!" I exclaim loudly as I rub my forehead. My eyes are still closed but they're starting to slowly open.
My vision is blurry but I know I'm gazing out the window. Wait... Do my eyes deceive me?! Everything is black with little dots made of pure gases of light.
I stare in disbelief with my jaw slightly open. The last thing I remember was me, a seventeen year old girl, riding a bus to my new school but how did I end up in... space?!
I raise my head just above the bus seats to see what the other passengers think about this situation but it turns out that I'm the only one here. Oh great! I'm alone in the middle of nowhere, floating in space with a bus that seems to be functioning as a spaceship?! I must be going insane!
I check my phone from the right pocket of my jacket. It's out of juice and besides, there's no cell service in space. I check my other pocket and I feel a thin wad of paper. I take it out and see that I only have ten dollars. Only ten?! Is this even enough to get me back to earth in one piece?!
The bus seems to be headed somewhere but even my immense knowledge of geography can't help me in space. I stand up and run towards the the front of the bus only to see that the vehicle had no driver. How is this bus driving itself?
I would be losing my mind right now but everything is so new and interesting that my mind can only think of all the knowledge I can get here.
I'm approaching a giant circular glass dome with what seems to be a city in the middle. I see other people inside but as I look closer, I see that some weren't even humans. Some were small with giant heads. Some where green and super tall. And I think I'm seeing two or three people flying in the air.
The bus suddenly stops. This is making my head spin so I'm forced to sit back down and hold a metal pole beside me as tight as possible.
My vehicle hovers down a few inches below the ground. Should I get off? I don't even know where I am. Before my butt can leave the seat, the bus starts to glow and before I know it, it evaporated like water on a hot pan. I fell on the ground with the loudest thud. Good thing no one is nearby to see me being a total klutz.
Now, what am I supposed to do? At this point in time, my mind no longer works properly. Instead of panicking and frantically trying to figure out where I am, I just stand there. Looking into the emptiness of the dark sky.
Just a few meters ahead of me is the city-like place in the center of the glass dome. Everyone is wearing some kind of white uniform with a blue round and green logo on the left part of the chest.
Then without me even realizing, I look at my own clothes, a pink floral bohemian dress with black leather boots, a plain peach scarf around my neck and a denim jacket. I dress differently from my peers back home. My friends usually wear t-shirts and jeans with rubber shoes but I find those clothes somehow uncomfortable. I sometimes like to think that I'm the only pink rose on a planet of lilies or that I'm the only beast in a crowd of Belles.
"Hey, are you the new recruit? Cadet... Ramos?" A deep and charming voice calls out from behind me. I quickly turn around and see the most jaw-dropping face I had ever seen. He's walking towards me and I can only stare into his icy blue eyes with my mouth slightly open.
He's wearing the uniform of the people inside the city like structure. The white cloth is hugging his muscles tightly.
"Ummm, excuse me? You are Cadet Ramos right?" He asks me again.
"Yes, my family name is Ramos! Where are we even? And do you know how I can get home?" I blurted out words I shouldn't have.
He looks at me for a moment before saying, "Well, if you're Cadet Ramos then you must already know that this place is the training facility for space rangers," he starts to explain. "And the bus back to Earth doesn't arrive until tomorrow morning, so you'll have to wait and you'd better hide."
"Hide? Why would I need to hide?" I ask him. My voice a bit shaky.
"Because we wanted Magenta Ramos to be here but instead we got her sister, Scarlet," he tells me with a creeping grin.
Magenta? Is she involved in any of this?
"I happen to be very good friends with your sister so I'M going to help YOU escape," he adds.
"So you're telling me that my sister was the one who was supposed to be here?" I aks him. My voice full of spite but before I know it I fall to the ground unable to move.
"If I'm going to keep you hidden then you need to shut up," he smiles at me. "You look exactly like your sister. You're lucky, being a space ranger isn't easy you know."
With his final words my mind goes blank and before I know it, I was riding the bus again but this time the destination was a blue planet, Earth.
My phone beside me vibrates like there's no tomorrow. I then hear a voice speak.
"Oh by the way, I charge your phone and gave you food for the trip. I did however, take your ten dollars away because earth money is worth ten times here. Oh and please do me a favor, please don't tell anyone about what you heard or what you saw. It would really be a problem for me and your sister."
The phone turns off and I'm now riding the bus to school. I get off the bus and see a lot of students. I look at the date on my phone. I rode the bus on the 15th of November and now its November 17th. I've been gone for two days.
The bus behind me drives away and this strange looking boy walks towards me. His blue eyes pierce his glasses and lands directly into my own hazel colored eyes.
"You've been up there, haven't you?" His voice is shrill. He points his index finger up into the vast sky. "You've seen my brother, haven't you? He's the one who helped you escape, wasn't he?"
I look at this strange man and as I do, he takes off his glasses and brushes his hair away from his face. At that moment I saw the face of the person who helped me get back home, the man who knows my sister and the one who took my ten dollars.
