The ferocious beast looked at the child proudly, for he had just caught a rabbit, all by himself.

The brunette's eyes sparkle as he hears his father figure let out a mighty laugh, leading the young boy to giggle with him. The young boy sets the rabbit down and runs to his father's claws, hugging them tightly, the beast stopped laughing and looked down, seeing a small boy cling onto his giant claws. 

The dragon wanted to hug him back, but due to its size, it was unable to. Instead, he curled his claw and lifted it slightly into the air, earning a giggle from the boy.

Years went by, and the boy grew up and learned about the dragon he calls his father.

The teen sat by the river as the moonlight shone brightly against the water, making the fish's swimming elegant through the clear water.

Sighing he looks at his father looking at him worriedly, "James, what's the matter? You've been quiet." James averts his eyes, looking at the water once again. After a few minutes of silence, James spoke up, "I heard stories of you in town, they call you a monster yet...you act more human than they do," Bringin his legs up to his chest he stares at the water intensely "What are you?" Looking at the dragon with desperation in his eyes, he stares into the yellow eyes that hold many secrets. 

The dragon rested his head on his paws as he closed his eyes, "A long time ago I was a human, like you. But when I was about to die, my wife made me a potion," The dragon shifted his head to look at the forest, "The potion ended up failing, and poisoned me. I died at that moment, but my will to live made me reincarnate into a dragon." The boy leaned against the beast's scales and closed his eyes, enjoying the moment.

"It sounds like you're stuck in your body," Looking up at the sky the boy speaks, startling the dragon "Would you stay like this? Or be free?" The dragon lifts his head, looking at the different colours in the sky as stars sparkle above the ones that fall, all of which compliments the full moon.

The dragon chuckles, "I'd rather be free."
