Superman and Lois-Father/Daughter Dance
Natalie was sitting at the dinning room table sketching in her notebook when Lois and Clark walked in.
"Hey Nat"
Nat didn't respond, she was listening to music and didn't hear her mother and so she continued to sketch.
"Nat?"
"She's got her earphones in" said Clark
Lois nudged Clark and he took the flyer out of his back pocket and put it on top of Nat's sketch book, making her look at it. It was a flyer for the father/daughter dance that was in two days.
Nat looked at it before tossing it aside.
"Yeah I saw it in the diner earlier, so what?"
"Why didn't you tell us?" asked Clark who sat down at the table
"Because I'm not going" said Nat who hadn't looked up from her sketch.
"Why not?" asked Lois
"what's the point?"
Clark looked up at Lois with a sad face, he felt guilty that she felt that, he hadn't noticed that he had neglected his daughter a little.
"We're going to that dance" stated Clark
"Dad..."
"No buts and I think the world can live without superman for one night"
Two nights later and Clark was, in his tux, waiting in the living room waiting for Natalie, who was still currently in her room.
Nat was standing in front of her mirror looking at herself in her dress. Jordan and Johnathan walked in to see their sister.
"Woah" said Jon
"You look beautiful Nat" said Jordan
"Thanks"
The boys went downstairs and waited in the living room with Lois and Clark as Nat began her journey down the stairs. Clark and Lois's faces lit up on seeing their daughter all dressed up.
"Oh my god, Nat you look amazing" said Lois
"Thanks mom" she said with a smile.
"Wow, you look, beautiful Nat" said Clark
"Thanks"
"Alright pictures"
Clark and Nat posed for a few pictures that Lois took. She then took a few with Jon and Jordan with Natalie.
"Alright we're gonna be late" said Nat
Nat and Clark walked out of the house and towards the truck followed by the boys and Lois.
"Go, go and have fun" said Lois who was waving.
Clark parked in the parking lot but Natalie made no move to exit the car.
"What's wrong?" asked Clark
"I...I can't dance"
"Honey no ones going to care and besides Its not like you could hurt me if you step on a few toes" said Clark with a smile
Clark and Nat walked in to see many fathers and daughters already there. The hall looked beautiful, there was a slideshow on the stage playing through pictures that the fathers had sent in.
Once the night was well underway and Clark and Nat were dancing, Clark noticed Sam standing in the corner, he was trying to locate them.
"May I cut in?" he asked
"Sure" said Clark
"Grandpa what are you doing here?"
"Well I am your grandfather, it seems only fitting" said Sam with a chuckle
Nat chuckled at his joke.
"That's the first time I've seen you smile all night, care to tell me why?"
Nat sighed and explained that Clark was only doing this to make up for neglecting her.
"I'm sure that's not true"
"It is"
Nat was unaware that Clark was eavesdropping on their conversation and was tearing up, he had no idea that's what she thought.
Clark's attention was diverted when he heard people whispering. He looked towards the door to see his brother Tal walking in wearing a tux. He walked up and stood beside his brother.
"Hello brother" said Tal just loud enough for Clark to hear.
"Tal, what are you doing here? How are you here?"
"I am very resourceful brother as you know and do you really think I would miss this? This is a big night for my niece after all"
Clark noticed Lana staring daggers into Tal, he nodded at her and she softened her glare but it was still there.
"May I have a dance brother?" he asked
"Its not me you should be asking" said Clark still watching Nat dancing with Sam.
The song ended and everyone clapped, the band began to play again this time with a slow song.
Tal straightened his tie and walked over to Sam and Nat.
"May I have this dance?"
"Uncle Tal...How?..." smiled Nat before she hugged him
"Magic"
Sam walked over to Clark and both watched as Tal dance with Nat.
"So how's the other earth?" asked Nat
"Getting back to normal"
"With your help I assume?"
"Well..."
Natalie laughed
"How's things here?" he asked before her spun Nat around
"Mom and Dad are going after a crime boss, Jordan has become a superhero and Jon is training to be a firefighter"
"Well I wish them luck, but what about you?"
"Me?"
"You told me about the boys and your parents but not you, why?"
"I have nothing to tell"
"I doubt that, what about your drawing? How's that coming along?"
"Its fine, I started drawing comics but I don't have dialogue to go with the pictures"
"I see, well I hope to see them when I visit again"
"You're not staying?"
"Unfortunately not, there's still a lot to do on the other earth"
"Oh ok" said Nat as her smile dropped
"You haven't seen the last of me, I promise"
The song ended and everyone clapped, Tal took Nat's hand and kissed the top.
"Until next time Natalie"
Natalie hugged Tal before he walked away.
'Fathers and daughters this is the last dance of the night, so father find you daughters and enjoy one last dance'
Clark walked up to Natalie and took her hand and they began to dance to the slow music.
"Thanks for tonight dad, I really needed it"
"Anytime and I wasn't just doing this to make up for not spending time with you"
"You heard that?"
Clark hummed
"Nat I know life has been busy lately but that doesn't mean I don't want to spend time with you"
"I know it just feels like Superman gets more screen time than Clark Kent does" explained Nat
"I know and I will try to balance them out more, reset the scales as it were" smiled Clark
The car ride home was spent in comfortable silence. Nat and Clark walked into the house and both went to bed.
From that night on Clark carved out time every week to spend with Nat and the boys so that they wouldn't feel neglected again.
