Malec~Adoption

Magnus and Alec had been married for over two years now and they were now discussing adopting a child. They had been to almost every Downworlder and Shadowhunter group home trying to find the perfect fit.

There were approaching the final group home, if they didn't find the right child here, there search would be over.

They walked through the door and saw many children running around.

"You must be Mr Bane and Mr Lightwood?" said the social worker

"Yes" replied Magnus

"I am Jill, welcome, is there a child in particular you would like to meet?" she asked

"Not really"

"That's fine, the children are through there if you want to meet them"

"Thank you" said Alec

Magnus and Alec walked into the sitting room to see 3 girls and 4 boys sitting round the Tv.

One of the girls came up to Magnus, he knelt down to her level.

"Are you here to adopt one of us?" she asked

"Hopefully sweet pea"

"Leanna has been here a long, she deserves a family to love her" said the girl, she went back over to the group and sat back down.

"Leanna?" questioned Alec

"Leanna has been here for over 5 years, she never got adopted because of her...differences" said Jill walking up beside them.

"Differences?" questioned Magnus

"Leanna is a Downworlder and Shadowhunter. Her mother was a Shadowhunter-Seelie and her father is a Demon which makes her..."

"A Shadowhunter, Seelie and a Warlock" interrupted Magnus

"Yes"

"I've never heard of that" stated Alec

"Hybrids are becoming more popular but they are still rare"

"Leanna!" shouted a girl running into the house

"Rosie What happened?" asked an older girl walking into the room.

"Jack fell from the Treehouse and broke his leg" said the girl

"Again? Show me" said Leanna

Leanna followed Rosie outside to the treehouse, Jill, Alec and Magnus followed them.

Leanna walked up to Jack and drew the healing rune on his arm with her Stele.

"Thanks Le'" said Jack as he stood up.

Jack had broken the railing as he fell, Leanna used her magic to replace it stronger then before.

"Leanna?" said Jill

Leanna walked up to Jill "Yeah?"

"Your supposed to be studying, so why did you come out of the game room when Rosie called for you?"

"I was taking a break" said Leanna fiddling with her hands.

"Leanna, your Rune test is in three days, study, now" said Jill pointing to the house.

Leanna walked into the house walking past Magnus and Alec, the girl fascinated them, not just because she was different, because she was kind, strong and caring. It seemed Alec and Magnus had found their child.

"Gentlemen"

"Tell us about Leanna" said Magnus who looked at Alec, he had the same thought.

The next day Magnus and Alex returned to the group home to start the ball rolling, there was just one hitch, Leanna wasn't one to trust strangers.

Jill walked into Leanna's room to see her studying her Runes for her test.

"What?" asked Leanna sensing Jill standing in the doorway of her room.

"Those men who were here yesterday..."

"Alexander Lightwood and Magnus Bane, what about them?"

"They would like to..."

"Let me stop you, They don't want me, nobody does"

"Leanna they saw what you did yesterday, they want to meet you, spend the day with you and get to know you"

"No"

"Give them a chance, for me?"

"No"

"For Rosie, she was the one who asked them to consider you"

Leanna sighed "Fine" Leanna got up and changed her clothes for her day with The inquisitor of the Clave and the High Warlock of Alicante.

Leanna walked down the stairs to see Magnus and Alec waiting for her in Jill's office.

"Leanna, come in" said Jill as Leanna was trying to sneak out.

She entered the office and slumped down in the free chair.

"So today is a experiment of sorts, to see if the three of you get along"

"Whoopee" said Leanna sarcastically

"Good luck" said Jill staring at Leanna

Alec, Magnus and Leanna left the group home and made their way to a local café.

"Welcome what can I get you?" said the Waitress

"Latte please" said Alec

"Same" said Magnus

"Coffee, black" said Leanna

The waitress left and an uncomfortable silence befell them.

"So why me?"

"Why you?" asked Alec

"Yeah, you could've picked any kid, why me?"

"Because, you seem like the kind of person who has been through so much and we know what that's like" replied Alec

"Huh, so its not 'cause Rosie asked you?" said Leanna with a cheeky smile

"It was a factor" said Magnus smiling

Leanna chuckled

"So Jill said your Rune test is in a few days"

"Yeah I am totally prepared for it though" She said leaning back in her chair and crossing her arms.

Magnus, Alec and Leanna had a wonderful day together, a wonderfully short day.

They returned to the group home, laughing as they walked through the door.

"Have fun?" asked Jill

"yeah, I guess we did"

"So?"

"Leanna! Your back" said Rosie running up to Leanna and hugging her.

"Yeah I am" she said hugging Rosie.

"Did you have fun?"

Leanna looked at Magnus and Alec then back at Rosie who was looking up at her.

"You know what, I did"

"Really?"

Leanna nodded at the little girl who had the biggest smile.

"So are we making this official?" asked Jill

Leanna looked unsure bit she stayed optimistic for once in her life she had hope that she would finally have a family.

"We could do a trial?" asked Jill

"A trial?" questioned Alec

"Yes, Leanna would stay with you for maybe a few weeks then she could decide to stay or return here"

"Sounds like a plan" stated Alec

"I'm down" said Leanna "But I'm not missing my classes at the academy"

Rosie started clapping and shouting 'Its happening'. Then every other kid in the house came running into the hallway

"Code Black people!" shouted Rosie

Everyone started clapping and hugging Leanna.

"Rosie?"

"Code Black: Leanna gets chosen"

"Are you serious?"

"Yeah its been a thing for years" stated one of the boys

The next day Leanna walked through the door of the apartment in Alicante.

"Welcome"

"Woah, this place is cool" said Leanna walking into the living room with her bags in hand.

"Thank you, this is your room" said Magnus leading her into what was the spare room "We'll leave you to get settled"

Leanna heard someone at the door and she opened her door a tiny bit to see who was there but when she saw Magnus and Alec get thrown through the loft she closed the door, scared.

She opened her door again and saw a group of unknown people tied up alongside Magnus and Alec, but the women who tied them up was what stunned Leanna.

"Now where is she?" asked the women

"Right here" said Leanna walking out into the sitting room. "What are you doing here?"

"I came for you, you've grown so much"

"Yes she has" said a male voice from behind Leanna, she turned around to see the familiar face of her father.

"What fool summoned you?"

"Does it matter sweetheart?" said the women

"kinda" said Leanna pulling out her serif blade.

"You wouldn't hurt your own mother now, would you?"

"You may have raised me for ten years but you do not deserve the title of mother, Lilith"

"Now, now daughter, be nice to your mother" said Leviathan, Leanna's demon father.

"Why? you never were"

"Enough Leviathan!" Lilith walked over to Magnus "This one's magic is familiar...you are the bastard son of Asmodeus, aren't you?"

Lenna threw one of her daggers at Lilith "Don't you dare!" she shouted

"HOW DARE YOU!"

"What are you gonna do Huh?" said Leanna as she pushed her blade into the chest of her father, but when she did he turned into Ravens and flew out of the window.

"You have become quite disrespectful young lady" said Lilith

"Wonder who I got that from, bitch"

Lilith threw a ball of magic at Leanna but she sent it back to her with her blade. She went flying into one of the columns.

"Nice try"

"You will pay for that!" said Lilith as she dusted herself off and threw another ball of magic, but this time it ripped the blade of of Leanna's hand.

"And you will pay for that!" said Leann using her magic to banish Lilith back to Edom.

That night all of them sat at the table whilst Leanna explained what happened. The weird thing was that not one of them judged her, it seems Leanna had truly found a family of people who understood her more than most.
