The Man in the Clouds
There was a guy about 17 years old. He lived in a small house on the edge of a forest in the mountains. He loved to hike, he'd hike every day. He'd wake up before the sun and he'd go for a morning hike. He'd climb up the pathway he'd made from his daily walks, and he'd look at the things around him. He'd smell the fresh air and the sweetness of the mornings. He'd feel the cold air on his scruffy face, and he'd let the moist air dampen his hair. After about half an hour of hiking, he'd get to a small clearing where a fallen log sat. He'd than reach into his shoulderbag and pull out a moving blanket, setting it on the ground. He'd than lie down, and stare into the sky to watch the sun rise. Now why would he do this? Because he loved the beauty of nature. He'd always loved the colors of nature, and he'd marvel at any moment he got alone with it. He liked to listen to the wind rustle the trees, and the birds wake up from their sleep. He loved to hear the squirrels run around and the crickets crick, while the frogs croaked. He'd let nature surround him, than he'd daydream. His mother had always said that daydreaming was a way to express your inner thoughts, it was a way of thinking of better solutions and wonderful stories. So naturally, the man would let his day dreams dream. Everyday the dreams were different. Sometimes they were about a giant frog who grew pumpkins, or sometimes it'd be a dream of him owning a shop of some sort, but they always ended eventually.
However, there was one dream he had several times. He had a dream where the morning clouds would form a face, the face of a beautiful man. And everytime this man appeared, he'd smile, kindly and lovingly at the man bellow him. He'd let out a laugh, a beautiful, loving laugh that would shake the ground. And everytime he'd laugh, the seventeen year old would stand, and hold out his arms, as if awaiting an embrace. After awhile, he wouldn't recieve one, so what he would do instead is close his eyes, and wish.
Now what he would wish for in his dreams he had no idea, but one thing was for sure, whatever it was had to do with the man of the sky. He the man spent months trying to figure it out. He'd drawn many photos of the cloud man, and he'd written many theories as to what he wanted. He was running out of ideas, and he was about to give up.
Than one day, as he layed in his makeshift bed on the forest floor, he thought about the man again. He wondered why his mind had created such a thought, and why it always returned, none of the other dreams did, so why this one? As he let out a sigh, he started to close his eyes, hoping he'd fall asleep and see the man again. When he opened his eyes, he wondered where he was, he didn't recognize his surroundings at all. He appeared to be in a bed, to his left was a chair and a table. To his right was a door, and a small TV. It took longer than it should have for him to realize he was in a hospital room.
He looked down at his arms and saw a thin, clear tube sticking out if his arm, attaching him to a strange machine.
Confused as to how he got there, he lay silently.. waiting..
A few minutes passed, and he heard the door open. As he looked to his right, he saw a beautiful older woman walk in, carrying a clip board. As she reached his bed, she looked at his face with wide eyes. "Your awake" she whispered. Instead of waiting for a responce, she quickly walked out of the room.
Still confused, the man sat there, staring at the door, seeing it open a few minutes later. A young woman walked in and flashed him a smile. She introduced herself as Doctor Keith. She than asked him a few questions, like if he could move his body or if he knew where he was. After replying no to most of the questions, the doctor said it was to be expected. After all, he'd been in a coma for almost a year. Shocked at what he was told, the man sat there in silence, and his doctor asked a nurse to contact his only family to tell them he'd awoken.
As she checked his pulse and other vitals, he couldnt help but wonder who his "family" was. So he sat there, many questions as to where he was running through his brain. It wasn't untill he heard the door open that he was pulled from his thoughts.
When he looked at the door, he saw something he couldn't believe.
He saw the man from the sky. The man he'd always dreamt about. And he couldn't help but marvel at his beauty. He was now able to see him fully.
He saw brown eyes and copper hair, a slight whiskering on the man's jawline, and a tall, strong stance. But another thing he noticed, was that the man was crying. As the man from the sky saw his face, he practically jumped onto him, and he couldnt stop crying.
"Don't ever leave me again." He didnt know what to do, so he sat there and just hugged back. Later on, he found out his name, who his family is, and even who the man of the sky is.
He found out that his name was Jake, and that the man who'd held him was his husband, Skylar. He found out that, when he was seventeen, he'd been in an accident and almost died, and so when he was in another accident, four years later, the damage from before had made him go into a comatose state for a year.
He found out that Skylar visited everyday after work, and read him every day. He'd found his true love.
He'd found his man of the sky.
