Prom (Leonard Snart)
Prom. The biggest night of my life and I was sure I was going to miss it. Travelling on the Waverider was great. Except for times like this.
Rip had recruited me right out as I was starting my last year of college. He wanted me for my historical knowledge. I loved every second of travelling through time and could not believe some of the things I got to see. It was magical to an extent. But the most magical thing was falling for the cold criminal on board. Leonard Snart. It wasn't planned but then again nothing on this trip went as planned. Hell, nothing in my life went as planned after Rip asked us to join him on this mission. But Leonard definitely wasn't part of any plan I ever had. And I loved every second of it.
Prom was a week away and Leonard could tell that something was bothering me.
"Everything ok (Y/N)?" He asked for the millionth time. I sighed and fell back dramatically on my bed.
"Ugh!" I let out. Leonard smirked and carefully laid down next to me. "I've just been thinking." I finally answered, rolling over to look at him. Leonard stared up at the ceiling above my bed.
"About what?" He finally asked as he turned his head towards me. I sighed again.
"My prom would be next week." I said quietly. "It's silly I know but I kind of wanted to go. I didn't have a date but I had the dress already and the ticket and I just really wanted to go. My last party as a college student. Hell, probably my last party until I got married!" I laughed. Leonard smiled and gently took my hand.
"It's not silly." Leonard said as his attention went to playing with my fingers. I smiled and shook my head.
"To Rip it is." I muttered. Leonard's head snapped up.
"What?" He asked. There was a fire in his eyes that I only saw before a mission or he tried to steal something. I flinched a little from the sudden change.
"Rip thinks it is silly and doesn't want to go back just for the night. He thinks I'll have plenty of chances to go to more parties after the mission. Especially since he plans on dropping us back off exactly after we left." I said. Leonard let go of my hand and got off my bed quickly. I watched him as he left my room. I couldn't figure out what was going through his mind. I figured I didn't want to. When Leonard was like that, it was best to leave him to his thoughts and plans.
It wasn't long before the Waverider landed. I looked up from my book confused.
"Miss. (Y/L/N), Mr. Snart wanted me to inform you that we are outside your dorm in the year 2016. He also wanted me to inform you that he plans on leaving for the dance in 2 hours so please hurry in your preparations." Gideon said.
"What dance is he talking about Gideon?" I asked, confused and hopeful.
"I believe Mr. Snart called it a prom." Gideon replied. I smiled and jumped off my bed.
"Gideon, where is Leonard?" I asked.
"Mr. Snart is no longer on board Miss. (Y/L/N). I can track him if you would like." Gideon offered.
"No thanks Gideon." I said as I ran out of my room and off the ship. I quickly ran into my dorm hall and up the stairs to my room. I didn't have a roommate and for once I was grateful that I didn't. I quickly threw off all my clothes and took a quick shower. After my shower, I walked back into my room in a towel and opened my closet. I pulled out the dress and shoes that I planned on wearing. I quickly dried off and put on the dress.
I quickly combed my hair and left it down to air dry. I fluffed it a little so it would dry a little nicer than if I left it alone. I didn't wear any makeup since Leonard always told me I looked better without it. I put on my shoes
and did a quick check in the mirror on my closet door. I fluffed my hair one last time and took a deep breath. Then the realization set in. Leonard Snart, Captain Cold himself, was taking me to prom. I smiled at my reflection and shook my head. I couldn't quite believe that Leonard would do this for me.
My head snapped to my window when I heard something hit it. I cocked my head when I heard it again. I made my way to the window and opened it. I stuck my head out of the window and looked down. Leonard was standing there in a dark blue tux with a peddle in his hand, ready to throw it. He smiled when he saw me.
"Are you ready m'lady?" he called up to me.
"I'll be right down Len." I called and he nodded. I smiled at him and closed my window, locking it since I didn't know if I was coming back here tonight. Or when I was coming back in general. I locked up my room and made my way out to Leonard. As I made sure the door to the building locked, Leonard made his way over to me. I turned around and Leonard stopped in awe. I saw the look on his face and blushed. "Len....." I said as he slowly made his way to me again.
"What?" He breathed. He was staring at my dress.
"You're staring." I whispered when he reached me. Leonard reached out and gently put his hand on my waist.
"You are so beautiful. That dress is perfect. It's so beautiful." He whispered back. I blushed a deeper shade of red. "It's like you knew I'd be the one taking you. Like I hit the dress with the cold gun. It's perfect." I giggled.
"I think you'll like my shoes then." I said as I picked up the dress and showed Leonard my shoes. They had what looked like little snowflakes on them. Leonard laughed and finally met my eyes.
"Perfect." He said. His smile fell a little. "Well......almost perfect." I looked at him confused. Leonard pulled out a little box from his pocket. "You're just missing on thing."
"What thing Leonard?" I asked. He opened the box.
"This." Leonard said as he pulled a necklace out of the box.
I gasped as Leonard let it dangle in front of my face.
"Len...." I whispered, tears threatening to run down my cheeks. "Its beautiful." Leonard moved behind me to put in on.
"Not as beautiful as you." He whispered as he hugged me from behind and placed a kiss to my cheek. I turned in his arms to look up at him. Even in heels, he was taller than me.
"Thank you so much." I whispered before I kissed him.
"You're welcome." he whispered against my lips. He pulled away and took my hand. "We better get going or we'll be late." I nodded in agreement and we started off to the gym not far from my dorm. You could hear the music from outside the gym. Leonard held my hand as we walked up the stairs to the doors, making sure I didn't fall. We both knew heels and me didn't go well together but this was a special occasion.
The music got louder as we walked in. I looked around in awe. I had been to high school proms but this was so much more than those. Leonard just watched me amused. We had our picture taken and Leonard put the pictures in his jacket pocket. He led me to an empty table and we sat down. It wasn't long before I was begging Leonard to dance with me.
"Please Leonard. You went through all this trouble. Don't just sit there!" I giggled as I gently tugged on his hand.
"It's ok (Y/N). You go. I'll watch." He said with a smile. It seemed the only time he actually smiled was when he was with me. I didn't mind. I tugged on his hand some more.
"Lenny....." I whined. I knew he hated that nickname, even if it came from Lisa. Leonard narrowed his eyes at me and cocked his head.
"Don't." His voice lowered a little.
"Please Lenny." I whined a little louder as I got closer to him.
"(Y/N)." He was practically growling now. I kept tugging on his hand.
"Please." I whined one last time as I gave his hand a firm tug. Leonard finally stood up.
"Fine. I'll dance with you." Leonard said. We made our way onto the dance floor just as a new song was starting. Leonard put his hands on my waist and started to sway to the music as I put my arms around his neck. (at top) I giggled at the song. "What?" Leonard asked.
"Neither of us are getting into heaven." I giggled. "If I gave you a boost would you pull me up?" I gazed up at Leonard who laughed.
"Of course I would." He said as he pulled me closer. "Know why?" I shook my head no. "Because you're the one habit I just can't kick." I laughed.
"Well you can't get rid of me." I giggled and Leonard nodded. We continued to dance through the night. Before we knew it, the dance was over and we were headed back to the Waverider. Long forgotten was Leonard's bowtie and the first few buttons on his shirt. Leonard had brought a jacket along with in case I got cold and I was currently wearing it as Leonard held me close. We entered the Waverider laughing. Once we entered the cargo bay, I stopped Leonard and held onto his shoulder as I took off my heels.
"Thank God those are gone." Leonard laughed. I laughed along with him.
"Admit it, you only dated me cuz I'm short!" I accused. Leonard pretended to think about it.
"Yeah pretty much." Leonard agreed as he took the heels from me.
"Hey!" I cried as I hit his arm playfully. "You should be glad you are holding the heels. Otherwise I would have hit you with those."
"Of course dear." Leonard said with a smirk. I hit him again as we entered the bridge.
"Jerk." I said as I walked away from him, wanting to show Sara and Kendra my dress.
"Trainwreck!" Leonard called after me.
"That's your sister!" I called back with a laugh. I wasn't exactly looking where I was going and ran into Rip.
"You two are late." Rip said. My giddy mood quickly disappeared.
"You never told us when to come back." I pointed out. Rip looked behind me at Leonard disapprovingly.
"I did in fact tell Mr. Snart to be back before midnight." Rip said. "And it is two in the morning now."
"But it is midnight somewhere." Leonard pointed out. I rolled my eyes at Rip.
"Look it doesn't really matter Rip. We aren't going anywhere anyway. What's two hours when you have a time ship?" I asked, trying to push past Rip and find my friends.
"It means quite a bit Miss. (Y/N)! While you were out partying with Mr. Snart, we were able to locate Vandal Savage. And now because you are late, we have lost him!" Rip practically yelled at me. I froze in my spot.
"Partying?" I asked. "Partying?! You think we were partying?! I was out living my life! For one night! That was all I asked! That was all Leonard asked for! One night of my life back! One night of the life you pulled me away from!" I yelled, advancing on Rip who didn't even flinch. "I'm sorry if that is too much to ask for Captain." I put as much sarcasm as I could behind Rip's so called title. I turned around to leave again when Rip's voice stopped me.
"You know Mr. Snart couldn't even come ask me himself for this leave? He had Mr. Palmer do it for him." I slowly turned around again.
"What did you just say?" I threatened. I didn't notice the look of sadness on Leonard's face. Rip just smirked at me. "Say that again. I dare you."
"Mr. Snart couldn't even ask for permission to come back to 2016 so the two of you could go to this prom." Rip said. "Mr. Snart asked Mr. Palmer to ask me." I glared at Rip. "Ask him yourself if you don't believe me." I looked at Leonard who couldn't look at me.
"Is this true Leonard?" I asked. After a couple of minutes, Leonard finally looked at me and nodded.
"I'm sorry (Y/N)." Leonard said. But I didn't hear him. I was already running down the corridor to the one place where I felt at home and at ease.
