David waited anxiously for (Y/N) to finish getting discharged. He held his daughter in her carrier and couldn't help but look down at her every couple of minutes. It was hard for him not to smile. His brain couldn't wrap itself around the fact that she was his. He had helped create her. But he couldn't be happier that he had a little girl to call his own. He wouldn't ever admit it, but watching the families walking the boardwalk got to him more than he would like. And when he found out (Y/N) was his mate, he started to dream of creating a family with her. His heart swelled as he looked down at the start of that family. She was currently sleeping and David was being extra careful with her because of it. (Y/N) walked over to him and took the bag that had been packed last minute by Max and brought up to the room while (Y/N) was getting discharged.

"Are you ready?" (Y/N) squeezed his hand as they got into the elevator. David nodded and squeezed her hand back.

"Yeah." He smiled over at her. "I can't wait to introduce her to the others." The elevator dinged as they hit the ground floor. David drew (Y/N) as they exited the hospital. Max had been kind enough to drive them to the hospital and he was now picking them up. They were just lucky that it all was able to happen at night. "Thanks Max." There was a hint of gratitude in David's flat tone. It was the tone he always used when talking to Max. (Y/N) discreetly raised her eyebrows but went about putting the bags in the car.

"It was no trouble." Max said. David nodded as he waited for her to finish before helping her get their daughter in the car. Max stood by in case they needed help. In the end, they did need Max's help. David let out a growl at first but a look from (Y/N) and he settled for holding onto her protectively. Once their daughter was situated in the car, David helped (Y/N) in next to her. He went around the car to get in the other side. Max drove them back to the cave where everyone was supposed to be waiting for them to get back. (Y/N) thanked Max as he showed her how to get the carrier out of the car and put it in. David hovered closely behind her and took the carrier as soon as Max went to hand it to (Y/N). She gave him a knowing look and David looked down at her sheepishly. Max drove off and the two new parents started the descent into the cave.

"Is everyone going to be there?" (Y/N) asked. David chuckled and squeezed her hand.

"Yeah." David said. "Well as far as I know." David gently guided her down the stairs and kept glancing down at his daughter to make sure she hadn't woken up. When they entered the cave, David noticed that the barrels were lit and everything was cleaned up but there was no one in sight. "If this is a surprise, don't you dare wake her up!" David called as loud as he dared. They waited a second but no one came into the main room. "I guess they all went on a hunt." (Y/N) nodded and walked over to a crib that seemed out of place in the large cave.

"What's this?" She laughed as she ran her hand over the rail, carefully pushing down to make sure that it didn't collapse.

"I guess Marko finished the crib." David laughed. He joined her and took her hand off the rail. He put the carrier down next to the crib. "Don't push on it! It's not going to collapse." (Y/N) leaned down and carefully took their daughter out of the carrier. David smiled as he watched her lay the sleeping baby in the crib.

"If Marko finished it, I'm double checking." (Y/N) giggled. She moved away from the crib and wrapped her arms around David. He smiled as he pulled her closer.

"Not saying I blame you." David chuckled. "Just have a little faith in Marko." They stood watching their daughter for a couple minutes before David spoke again. "Let's get some food. It's been a while since I ate and I know that you haven't eaten in longer." (Y/N) looked up at him with wide eyes. He chuckled before leaning down and kissing her. "I'm not talking about hunting. I'm talking about actually eating." She gently relaxed against him and nodded. He led her over to the fountain. There was a box of food with a note attached. "Looks like the boys did a little work of their own."

"Looks like they did a little more than a little work." (Y/N) chuckled as she read the note. "It says that once we eat we need to go check out our room." She looked up at David with a sly smile. He nodded and they took off towards their room. (Y/N)'s hands flew to her mouth as she looked around the room. David hugged her, knowing that she was just about ready to cry. Not just from post-pregnancy hormones but from the simple fact that the boys had gone through so much trouble to prepare the cave and their room for the newest addition to their little gang. "Oh my goodness." (Y/N) nearly sobbed. "David." She looked over her shoulder at him and he smiled at her. He kissed her temple and gently moved her into the room.

"I know sweetie. I know." He nodded. He hugged her a little tighter. He felt her body shake as she let out a choked sob. "I can't believe they did this for us." The room had a bassinet, playpen, changing table, and another crib. David gently rocked the two of them back and forth while (Y/N) calmed down. When she had, David gently led her back into the main room. He passed her a carton of food and sat down next to her on the fountain. They ate in silence, just enjoying the feeling of being a family. The silence was broken by the loud wails that only a newborn baby could make. David's head snapped up quicker than (Y/N)'s. He quickly looked over at the crib and was up in a heartbeat. He leaned over the crib and smiled down at his daughter. He reached out to check if she needed a diaper and his smile fell as he realized she didn't.

"What's wrong?" (Y/N) asked. David shrugged.

"I think she's hungry. Hold on. Give me a second." He went to the mini fridge that was hidden behind one of the curtains. He found a bunch of bottles of milk and a little note from Star saying he would probably need them. David grabbed a bottle and went back to his daughter who was now squirming in the crib as well. He gently picked her up and tried to feed her. She kept turning away from the bottle and David grew more frustrated. (Y/N) joined him. The longer she watched their daughter fuss, the more concerned she grew.

"David, I think something is seriously wrong." Her concern was evident in her voice. David nodded in agreement. Then he got an idea.

"Hold on. I think I know what to do." He had a small smirk on his face as he went to the sink that was also tucked away. He poured out the milk and rinsed out the bottle. He reached for the bottle of blood before pausing in his actions. He walked back to where the crib was. With (Y/N) watching, David brought a finger to his mouth and let his fangs descend. He bit his finger and gently reached down so his finger was near his daughter's mouth. He started to laugh as she grabbed his finger and started to suck the blood off of it. Looking over at (Y/N), he started to laugh harder. "I think we have the answer to if she is like us or not." (Y/N) started to laugh along with him. David pulled (Y/N) close and they watched as their daughter drank from David. When she finally released his finger, David smiled down at her and gently rubbed her stomach.

"We're going to need to figure out something better than letting her drink from our fingers." (Y/N) said as their daughter drifted off to sleep again and they made their way back to their discarded food. David nodded as they settled in. They started to drift off to sleep before being woken by the chaotic noise of the boys returning home from a successful hunt. David heard someone shush them and he opened his eyes to see Star quietly ushering them all in. He smiled as they all stopped in their tracks.

"She's home?" Marko asked, excitement dripping from his voice. David nodded with a smile as Marko let out a quiet shout and nearly flew to the crib. "She's so adorable!" He was over by the lounging couple in seconds as the rest of the boys took their turns looking at the smallest member of their little gang.

"She really is." David whispered, gesturing to the still sleeping (Y/N) on his chest. "Very much like her mother." Marko nodded and sat down next to David.

"But she has her father's eyes and hair." (Y/N)'s voice broke through the silence causing Marko and the rest of the boys to start laughing hysterically. David playfully glared down at the mother of his child. "It's true." she whispered so only he could hear.

"Is she...." Star's voice broke through the boys' chattering. "Like us?" David nodded over at the woman who had come to stand on the opposite side of the crib.

"Yeah." He said, standing up. "Just found out." He turned to Marko and the other boys. "Speaking of we're going to need blood to replace all the milk you boys got us." The boys nodded before realizing what time it was.

"We'll go out first thing tomorrow. It's too late to go hunting again now." Dwayne nodded before motioning for the other boys to go take care of what they had already done. Star went with them to make sure that it was all taken care of. Only one person was left behind. He watched Star order the boys to rinse out the sink before attempting to fill the bottles with what blood they had left. David nodded over in the direction of their room and (Y/N) nodded before making her way to the room.

"Bring her with you when you are done." She whispered, gently kissing David's cheek before entering the room. David nodded as he watched her disappear into the room before turning to Michael.

"What do you think Michael?" He asked the half-vampire. "You've been awfully quiet." He motioned Michael over to the crib. "Let me guess. You don't think it's right because she doesn't have a choice." David looked over at Michael skeptically. Michael shook his head.

"You may have tricked me and Star into becoming like we are. But Laddie made a choice, even if he didn't know it. And in a way..." Michael trailed off. "She made the choice as well." David rolled his eyes at what Michael was insinuating. "Besides... she'll figure all this out for herself eventually." David nodded as he looked down at his daughter.

"That actually means a lot coming from you." David laughed. He looked over at Michael with a smile.

"Wait til you hear this." Michael chuckled. David looked at him expectantly. "With you as her father and (Y/N) as her mother, she's more than set for whatever this life brings to her." David smiled at Michael and nodded before looking down at his daughter again.

"On that note. I think it's time we all got to sleep." David chuckled. Michael nodded before going off to join Star. David gently picked his daughter up and turned around. He smiled when he saw (Y/N) standing in the doorway to their room with a smile on her face. He could tell just by looking at her that she had heard it all. Walking over to her, he gave her a kiss before going to the crib to put his daughter down. "You know he's right." David said as (Y/N) joined him on their bed.

"About what?" (Y/N) asked, sleep starting to overtake her. She could still make out that David was looking at the crib.

"That's with us as parents, she's going to be ok." David whispered, turning his gaze on the woman in his arms. She smiled up at him before leaning up to kiss him. She fell asleep not long after. David laid awake for a little while longer. "She's going to be ok." He whispered before falling asleep.
